Happy to be of help, and if you haven't had the chance yet check out the podcast from Saturday as it's a great discussion about Admech with two of the top Admech players out there.
I'm working on one right now and it's not as bad as I thought initially but it's definitely a learning curve when it comes to the best way to sub-assembly it. I also made several errors while building it.
Luckily not yet, despite how often I've dropped it. Hopefully as I plan to transport it in a magnetic tray it won't shift around or get beaten up as easily.
I was surprised by how much of a boost the Sicarians received but I'm happy it happened, they needed some love for how cool of a model they are. And you should totally join the ranks of the Omnissiah's faithful.
It's a cool conversion and it appears in the original series as well. Check out the sub Reddit in the description as well as it's always cool to see people post conversions and armies on there if you're interested.
They're a good way to build out an army quickly if you're a slow painter like I am, but do keep in mind currently the Admech are split down the middle with their army of renown options, so it's a bit harder to mix an match Cult and Skitarii. The lists I covered recently show this pretty well, but on a more casual level it isn't much of an issue and even on competitive terms there is the rare mixed list that does alright.
@@Techpriest yeah a very clear split down the middle it seems. My army is more skitarii currently so i think ill stick with that option for now but i will still grab a box of Kastelans while sales are on. having the option to mix and change wont be a bad thing for fun. my games will be very casual
The nice thing about casual play, and really even most local monthly tournaments is you can be rather unoptimized and still have a rather good time. I mostly focus on tournament lists as they're made on a consistent level but I did cover a list that was very casual and still did rather well not long ago.
That is quite a lot. Realistically you can reduce it to 24 per 3 Kataphrons if you only magnetize the arms, which still is quite a few. Though you can also magnetize a couple options at a time and then add the others as needed.
Thanks and I'm happy to be working on it. I'm surprised how quickly I was able to make this, or at least how much I was able to work on it in a short window of free time.
A tip for ironstriders, instead of magnetising you can get skitarii models with a wide stance and clip out part of the robe so that it fits on the saddle. I built the bodies that come with the kit and dragoons and the converted skitarii bodies as balistarii.
My attention drawn to these guys with today's revised points list. Your presentation is very helpful. Unfortunately, Start Collecting boxes cannot be found. Thanks for your effort here.
Happy to be of help, and it's rather sad the Start Collecting boxes are so rare now as I like them a bit more than the so-so Combat Patrol Admech have. Should have an update with the new FAQ up in the next couple of days but the newest video that went up today amusingly enough has a list that didn't get hit too hard by the nerfs.
You have no idea how much i appreciate this series! Starting wh40k suuucks, everything is so confusing and expensive, it feels like i could waste hundreds if im not careful
Happy to be of help, and a big part of why I started this project was I was returning to the game and felt the same way. Though the nice thing is that with Admech you can find use for almost everything, although it's never fun spending a ton of time painting up models only the shelve them for later because they don't work well with what your army wants to do.
@@Techpriest Memes aside, Warhammer is super intimidating. The barrier to entry seems like a sheer concrete walls. Your guides are footholds that make getting into 40k feel doable. The community needs this content. Thank you.
Thank you, and a big part of why I started this was because I couldn't find anything like it when I was coming back to the game so I knew the pain of getting into the game even with prior knowledge. It's really awesome knowing I'm helping others with this project.
It's interesting to see that it's build Skitarii. No particular bias towards Rangers or Vanguard. It's kind of refreshing to see that the general feel is don't buy expensive stuff to start cuz you're not going to use it in a 500-point army but basically build what you want magnetize what you can.
For sure. Right now it feels like both Rangers and Vanguard have a place, as well as most other models. Even the stuff on the "avoid" list is more about budgeting and limited use case but can still be rather strong if built around. The only things I'd say are probably on the list of not very playable are Jezail Dragoons (though they did get a buff they're still not quite there), Skystalkers, and Transvectors. Though all of those can be played as other options that are rather good.
Yea, unfortunately it's just to many points and in a very crowded unit type slot. Maybe if you need a very cheap unit with the mobility and durability of a Dragoon but don't want to or can't spend the points on a taser lance you could include one in a list.
@@Techpriest if the profile for the trans uranic aquabus and the radium jazail were reversed they'd both be an auto include. It's a real shame because I think it's my best-looking model.
Luckily my parents and grandparents supplied me with the boxes that you are telling people they should avoid (which I agree with). So big shout out to my family!
To be fair, getting something like Raiders as a gift is the best way to get them as it saves you the feeling of paying for them but you get to play with them and they're very good.
Nice work! I'm glad to see AdMech get their round 2. I'm curious, are you going to touch base on using knights in our lists? I picked one up because they look awesome, and I have a cool kitbash idea in mind. I have absolutely no clue how to properly blend it into any army though. 9th edition is still so new, it's hard to find solid input on the matter.
Thanks, and I'm super hyped for the new series. I'll probably touch upon it in the series at times but I'm hoping for a full Knights book before going into deep detail as it's generally hard to weave them in as part of the series itself without making that dive. I do want a Knight though, they've really grown on me and look awesome alongside Admech.
Salamanders is in the plan, I'm just not sure when exactly they will get their series as Marines may need a different take than most armies due to how much there is to cover. As for the patrons I always send them a message on Patreon asking if it's ok to list their name as many people use their real name on there and I wish to respect their privacy. Two of them haven't responded yet so I have yet to update the end card with their name.
They'll be perfectly fine. The hardest thing about Admech is listing things to avoid as even the "bad" stuff is good it's just less versatile than some of the other stuff.
Props for having the best animation cell from DBSuper as an avatar. I know the pain, as I'm a slow painter and getting an army full painted for Admech is hard enough as it is. Though at least you can make it somewhat elite with some options which can be nice as you can build the elite version first and then swap things out with magnetization as you build up.
Question: As im just starting a Mechanicus army, I decided to start with some good ol’ fashioned Skitarii right In terms of army composition, would I be better off making all my Skitarii match (All rangers or all Vanguard) or would it be considered safe to have a little mixture (I’m thinking mostly Rangers with some Vanguard)? Also, in the discount boxes, are the Skitarii limited to what’s on the front of the box the same way the Chaos Marines are in the start collecting box for them? Or would I still be able to swap them to Vanguard Skitarii if I so pleased
Both are good for different reasons, so you can start with either or a mix. The Rangers tend to be more popular now than the Vanguard but that can change at any time as small tweaks to them over time has seen each in the spotlight. Also the special weapons are always in an interesting spot as they always find their way into the game as seen in the 2k list video with Plasma or the On the Fringe video with Arc Rifles and the Arquebus. Should be able to build either from the collection boxes, but I've only had the new and old one, not the Combat Patrol box. You still only get 1 of each special weapon which can be a bit of a pain.
@@Techpriest Alrighty! Thanks a lot! I’m glad there isn’t a set “meta” with the Skitarii as I like to have some variety in my basic infantry in games I play. It’s nice to see both the long range and short range guys get some love! And on that I’ll probably get a start collecting box too and just make that my second ranger squad to be safe, and probably get one last Skitarii box for Vanguard boys. Thanks again!
I have 20 man blobs of Vanguard, and 5 man Ranger msu. Rangers go upfield to skirmish, do actions, take objectives, screen, etc. Vanguards shoot. Can optionally put Transarq and Omnispex with Rangers, and Arc rifle, plasma, omnispex, and data-tether with the Vanguard.
