I'm Brazilian, so I'll try to be brief in my explanation. After the World Cup, the president of our confederation announced that he would calmly look for a coach and appointed Ramon Meneses (under-20 coach) as interim coach, but in 2 of the 3 friendlies we lost to Morocco and Senegal, so the president lied saying that Ancelotti was hired and would arrive when his current contract ended (to calm the criticism) and announced Fernando Diniz (2023 Copa Libertadores Champion) as interim coach until "Ancelotti's contract ends." Diniz started well, but drew with Venezuela and lost to Uruguay, Colombia and Argentina and was fired. To replace him, they hired Dorival Júnior (probably the best Brazilian coach at that time), but Dorival is famous in Brazil for being "too nice" and this makes the "world-class" players not respect him, so he ends up being afraid to change the team, the tactics and the players who are playing poorly. As you can see, there are several mistakes and lies that harm the team.

as an Australian, our position is absolutely down to how shit Graham Arnold is
in his 2 tenures as Socceroos coach he's overseen 3 Asian Cup FAILURES, especially the last one earlier this year, absolutely golden opportunity but his persistence to play players out of position (Jordan Bos is a brilliant LB HE'S NOT A FUCKING WINGER), his dedication to his favourites out strips even Gareth Southgate's and Gregg Berhalter's dedication to theirs (seriously how is Duke and Behich making this team?) and his tactics make Jose Mouhrinio look like the most attacking manager ever known to man, he fucking parked the bus against Bahrain and Indonesia, teams we have absolutely no worries dominating, and player for player we are so so so so much better than
he's an absolute failure as a manager, and the fact the FFA has come out and said "We're backing him" is just depressing, I'm almost at the point of hoping we lose to China so they can just bite the fucking bullet and get someone else in to scrap us into 4th to get us on to the next round, cause if Graham Arnold sees this out we won't make it even to the next round
he is riding off of 3 good games, one of which was a Penalty shootoff, the other two v Denmark and Tunisia, at the WC, if we lose any of those 3 games he's not the manager of the Socceroos we have a better manager and we're doing better that simple

No, we are not ok, not at all...
TL;DR: The FA is a mess, brazillian coaches are bad, and the players don't care.
So, for me, these are some aspects that led to this crisis in Brazil's football:
    - THE FA: CBF, the Brazilian FA's, has been in some turmoil in the past few years... The last president, Rogério Caboclo, was removed due to allegations of harassment... Then Edinaldo Rodrigues, his vice, took over and since then some other legal shit (which i'm not able to explain in english) happened, which led to Edinaldo also being removed and then returned to his position as president. This inconsistency in the FA's command, alongside with some internal power struggles, has led them to some questionable decisions regarding actual football matters, which leads us to the next point...
    - THE COACH: There's a natural resistance to allow foreign coaches to manage Brazil's national team. People usually say that this would make us lose the "joga bonito" aspect of our game (although some can say that we already lost it). Because of that, we usually pick the allegedly best manager acting in the brazillian league to coach the national team. The problem is that nowadays, the best coaches are usually foreign, so we go for the "not so good" coaches instead.
After Tite's (Brazil's last WC manager) dismissal, CBF wanted to try something new and bring in a world class coach, even though a foreign one. Ancelotti was the main focus, and it was said that he had agreed to a contract to be Brazil's new coach from July 2023 onwards. While CBF waited for Ancelloti, Brazil went on with the U- 20 coach, Ramon Menezes as a temporary coach, which obtained very poor results. (it is worth mentioning that Ramon is considered to be a bad coach even for the U-20 level, so there's that.)
Then, July 2023 came and, as we all know, Ancelotti did not took over. Because of that, Fernando Diniz, a younger coach, who has very a unorthodox methodology to nowadays standards, was apointed. One of the main problems was that he maintained his job at the club level, thus being divided by both nation and club. This has also led to very poor results, which then led to his dimissal, by the end of 2023.
Then, now in 2024, Dorival Jr. took over. He's a more seasoned coach, which is known to do a good job when doing the basics. This has led him to win some trophies during his carrer, but never in a outstanding way. After Dorival's arrival, Brazil had good results, with a win against England and a draw with Spain. But this breath of fresh air quickly ran out, as we are all seing. By now, Dorival still has the job, but this can change if the the team does not improve by the next matches.
    - THE PLAYERS: For the past couple decades, there has been this feeling in Brazil that the players don't care as much for the national team as they used to... They go to Europe way too early in they carrers, thus not being able to really connect to Brazil's football culture as a player. This has led to a generation of really talented players who are more concerned to play for their clubs, making history there, instead of do the same for their nation... I think this happens mostly because it's a lot easier to see Real Madrid or Man City being great teams instead of Brazil's national team doing so... (I also think that Brazil's political status also contributed to this problem, but I'm not gonna go down this road in this comment).
    So yeah, there's that...

Time for the South and North America qualification zones to be merged with less places available and fewer games, anywhere else in the world if you lose 2-3 games you're pretty much done, Brazil, Argentina etc. can lose 6, 7, 8 and still qualify. While the likes of Italy, England, Holland have failed to qualify by unexpectedly losing the odd crunch game, there isn't the same jeopardy for the top South American nations.

I mean it’s something stupid like that. I still think that more African, North American and Asian sides should’ve qualified.

Another thing is that we only use Brazilian head coaches and they have way old things about how to play soccer… that’s very sad! Brazilian people don’t care about the national team anymore

There's no way Brazil won't qualify, FIFA gave south America a bunch of spots, no way we won't make it. It's all part of a plan, Brazil never won anything while playing it's best prior to the world cup, with a structured confederation, a coach with credit and a properly put together squad.

Interestingly enough, brazilian clubs now allow up to NINE foreign players for a matchday callup. Most top flight brazilian clubs have around that amount of foreign players in their rosters and they're usually the top players of their teams. Obviously, young talent still gets up being sold to richer leagues early, so there is an argument for brazilian talent not being kept in Brazil, but these days, if your 17-19 year old home grown player is having form problems, they just hire a big waged reject from Europe, making its development plummet.

  • @ioritenshi

It's been decades since our national federation became politics first, football second. Currently, the president of the brazilian football federation, Ednaldo Rodrigues, was appointed to the chair by a politician and to say he is unqualified for the job is a massive understatement.
This causes actions to be taken with football as a second thought from the calendar to the professionalization of referees and head coaches.
There's also a lot of arrogance from many brazilians top players and coaches because we were once at the top of the world and for years they preached we had nothing to learn from anyone else.
This is the result: the brazilian professional football is behind even compared to south american nations, our head coaches cannot understand how real football is played today, they are no match for pretty much any European coach and the national team is treated badly by its federation and lost so much value, pride and respect...
To sum it all: we are cooked.
