- A Citrus County couple is mourning the loss of their of 10-month-old baby after she lived with a very rare genetic disorder, but say her short life made a big impact.

I had a Trisomy 13 baby. As soon as I was told about all the fatal problems, my husband & I put a Do Not Resuscitate order on him. We just couldn't stand to know he was suffering. He died at 12 days old.

Honestly I feel like they should've let her go. I know every baby deserves a chance, but once they saw her having seizures and many other complications everyday or almost every day, they should've let her go. She probably suffered those 10 months. I know they wanted to beat the odds and have their kid survive but once they saw that they should've let her free.

They never care. They put up “go fund me” accounts and claim that a “miracle” will happen as the baby is missing half of her brain and having constant severe seizures. The baby suffered for ten months.
And then the audacity to label this as some “lessons of beauty and love”
everyone is saying she was suffering but she was smiling in that final picture. She got to be held my her mum and dad, she got to be kissed and hugged, she got to play peekaboo and look at the trees and feel the grass. She didn't live long but she lived. She smiled

How does anyone know she was brave? The poor sausage never had a choice in the matter, did she? How does anyone know whether she suffered any pain? I know I sound harsh but I make no apology for the fact that these parents made a decision on behalf of a baby without any concern for the child - just themselves.

What a happy father of a child that didnt make it.
I think they didn't expect the baby to make it, so they had already come to terms with the idea. They were surprised she survived birth. So every day they spent with her was a gift.

No I'm not trying to be mean, but seriously why are so many people continuing pregnancies after they are informed the baby has a debilitating if not fatal abnormalities? The human brain does not begin to form memory tell late after birth, so why not terminate the pregnancy and potentially save a life from unnecessary suffering. Again, I'm not trying to be mean, I just don't understand how gambling with a life like that is worth it when the odds are that if the child actually does survive it's almost a guarantee that they will suffer a crippled existence, where the best case scenario is so bleak I just can't understand it.

Mt daughter was born like this 9th June 2015 , Atarah is still alive she is 9 years old today turning 10 this June. The whole community was praying for atarah we weren't warned or knew she would be born this way, she looks almost identical to how my baby looked when she was born, Atarah had 2 operations done , they joined the upper lip that was split completely apart and tried to fix her palate and we still waiting and still battling for her to get anything done. It's so sad , I have reached put to so many organizations. The latest is that she needs to wait until she turns 12 years old
if your daughter has this condition and is in fact the age you say she is then you must be very lucky because babies with this condition do not live longer than a year old.
My baby is with trisomy 18. We decided yesterday with the staff of the doctors to stop his heart in the 9 month. He is a boy and his is not borned yet. Now we are waiting to born a died baby. But this is the best choice we we had! Trust me! They put at first to the baby a medicament to be quite. And than they put the secodn medicament to stop his heart. Without suffering. Now we are waiting for the born of baby.😥 We will name him EDWARD... the same name with the syndrome that killed him. Trisomy 18 = Edward Syndrome 😥😔😥

the soul choses the parents. Her soul chose these parents, it is for a reason. So my guess is, in the end, it happened how it should have. She got to be cared for with love, at least and had even if rare, a few moments of feeling happiness snd feeling true love. It was important for her soul to get to live that. ❤

anyone who is saying "she was in pain" she was not, yes she had seizures, seizures are not painful, i fallowed the family and she was not suffering, she learned to smile, she giggled and cooed, she loved being outside and she loved the water, she could hold her own head up, roll over and even learned to sit up on her own, she was full of life and love, yes she was often sick, yes she looked different but she was never in pain, her family loved her so much and they were lucky to get ten beautiful months with their little girl. put yourself in her parents shoes when you see the comments of "oh she was always in pain they should have aborted" or "why did they let her suffer?" she was never in suffering

This story hits home i was told the samething my baby was born just like blakley omg. Her face remind me of my beautiful baby girl. She aas born Nov 4 2022. We had Multiple hospitals visits sleepless nights and a lot of scares. Feb 27,2024 is when we lost our battle and she gain her wings. This beautiful baby looks just like my beautiful Ava. She was only here 15 months and I loved every moment and learned a lot from her.
I would cry if I lost some beautiful baby like that. Well I would cry if I lost any of my babies

Those were sweet months for that family, wonderful enough to make up for the hard parts.
