1:55 You are speaking wise words here. I have got the fiio KA3, which basically is a direct competitor with this dongle here. I use it with an iPhone and hence need a USB-C to Lightning OTG cable. Naturally, I first chose the fiio LT-LT1. Has a braided cable sleeve and feels sturdy-yet both units I bought broke within four months, despite me babying them (really). There's no damage visible, but they just stopped working. My guess is that the thin wires snapped because of me (gently!) bending it around to have the DAC dongle behind the phone. Absolute rubbish. Really, the original Apple dongle is sturdier than this! I now use a ddHifi MFi06 cable with angled plug-so far, so good, but I only have it since two weeks. Let's hope...
Just to stay consistent with the messaging between 3:58 and 10:14. The issue is with the intuitiveness of the LED-only indicator...colour choices are not the issue.
I don't own one, but the two main differences on Fosi's website state: - Different DAC chips - DS2 is more powerful Other than that, it's the cable and the shell design. Also, I don't know the significance of the different DAC chips - but they both output the same sample rates. I don't know about the functionality, especially the high/low level modes. I can't really imagine that they're so different from each other. I would guess to just go with whichever you think looks the best, or if you really need the slight extra power of the DS2 for some harder to drive larger planars, etc. If you want to go more deeply into research, then I would suggest finding out if there are any big difference between the DAC chips. - ES9018K2M - ES9038Q2M
Gives u a tips bro, when u doin dacAmps reviews n in this case delta sigma.. Critically the brands of chips used. Ess this 1 bro then everything else.. Peace!
If I could, I'd like to add some heat-shrink around the cable because aesthetics are quite important to me, tape would be ugly as hell... At least the cables ARE replaceable :/ Incidentally that cable (in the video) is already dead... that only took about 4 months... but since Fosi keeps sending me goodies, I've got 2 spare cables and I've already made the swap to the DS2 2024 Cirrus version which is SO much lighter than the DS1: in turn that should help the cable last a lot longer than the first one. DS1's weight just pulls SO much on the cable, I can only really recommend it for desktop use, like if you're taking your laptop to a coffee shop or want a better DAC/amp at the office computer.
there's nothing better than a freshly out of the oven warm dongle from GREQ to get me ready for the weekend. much love
Looks like a well thought out unit. Love the style and build quality.

Now what about the ds2? Somehow the 2 is cheaper. Is it worse? Better? Idk

That cable broke after one day of using the device, lol
Have you thought of taping the cable? I know it's better to have a sturdy one, but in the meantime it could give extra life to the poor thing :')

how come you, being an audio reviewer have an intro with such a saturated sound?
