    great set up for moose and he looked like he had a great time exploring . i have robo hamsters and have found a couple of them [ skylar and buddy ] do not like change ...all items must be put back in the same position in the enclosure or they appear very stressed and won't go near any area that has changed , but dart quickly back to their houses , yet my russian hamster bruno does not mind change although i always keep his house in the same position .

    • @ZoesPetitePets
      @ZoesPetitePets  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you!! He does, a lot of times I keep his cage the same maybe add a few new enrichment items but keep it otherwise the same. If I do change the setup it’s never like I change where the basic things are, his wheel is always on the same side even if it’s a different wheel for example, and his nesting/burrowing side is the on the left side always. In the past my one Chinese hamster [Gus] hated change as well. Just depends on the hamster’s personality! But overall trying to keep placement mostly the same works best for sure :)

    • @ZoesPetitePets
      @ZoesPetitePets  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@thuancarson7614 Well when I use bin cages for my hamsters I simply don’t allow urine to accumulate like that and stay on the plastic for a long time. Most of the times, a hamster is going to be peeing in their bedding or in a sand dish, so you can easily spot clean that. I haven’t had any issues with the plastic holding onto any smells ever.❤️

      Thank you for the concern! However the bedding I use for my hamsters is just plain paper bedding by Kaytee Clean and Cozy. It does not have any fragrance, and I completely understand that small animals especially hamsters shouldn’t be kept of bedding with fragrance because they’re prone to respiratory infections and it’s unnatural. • @ZoesPetitePets
      @ZoesPetitePets  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I buy my dirt; it's called Eco Earth! You can purchase it at most pet stores in the reptile isle. But what I mean in the video is that I then (after buying the big bag of Eco Earth *dry form*) sift it. To remove excess dust-which is harmful for most pets because it can cause respiratory issues, make sure it's dry, and I freeze it. I freeze most of my bulk pet items to remove mites, parasites, and bugs that can dwell in the package. So, like bedding, which I freeze to kill mites, I also freeze my eco earth. I also try to dry it out more than how it comes because of the nature of eco earth. Which is, eco earth is a high humidity substrate and hamsters don't do well in a high humidity environment. But that's great that you're seeking to improve your future hamster care :)

To be fair Moose, my hamster, and my past hamsters haven’t shown any signs of stress or negative behaviors in this size of an enclosure. It truly, in my opinion, comes down to meeting the bare minimum along with closely monitoring your personal hamster’s response relative to the environment. 💙
