Tempt with Discover is usually a 4 mana search for 1 land, at least at my table. Nobody else ever searches for a land with this thing. It's not terrible since it can be any land, but for 4 mana, that's not great.
I agree for all of them. Many players told me "lurking predators ? LMAO !" Until they got destroyed. As for Etali, i instantly put him in a Naya deck. Too good to pass up
my experience with tempt with discovery. If one person says yes, most of the time everyone says yes it's either gonna mostly give you 1 land or 4 lands

I love Lurking Predators in my Neyith Fight club deck. it usually goes: Land, Land, Fight spell, Land, Ramp spell, Impervious Greatwurm for free, that cant be responded to.
I think with Luxior, the opponent puts the counter on their "creature". With patron, YOU have to put the counter on something an opponent controls for the trigger.
Pet cards I never see others play but I put in almost every I can are lurking predators, black market, overwhelming remorse, akroma’s memorial, public enemy, life insurance, and a few more.
I have a Flash deck, with Damia, Sage of Stone as the Commander, and it’s basically a “draw-go” deck. I think it has one Sorcery in it. Anyway, I might have to find room for Elminster’s Simulacrum.
I can connect with the love for Elminster’s Simulacrum. I played against an Ur-Dragon deck and made a copy of Karrthus, and it ended up being one of the greatest moments my playgroup has ever had.

Speaking from experience, the moment you trigger Ob-Nixilis for the 2nd or 3rd time it's likely going to be a the biggest target on the board, for good reason. I have straight up killed people when thy were at 30 life just because I had an Ob-Nixlis on board and cast splendid reclamation.
Ob Nixilis The Fallen is easily one of my favourite cards in my Yarok lands deck. The ability to drain at least 6 life and gain 6 power and toughness every turn can get out of hand pretty quickly…once I one shot an opponent from nearly full with Awaken the Woods off just the life drain
Besides not wanting to buff my opponents creatures there are other better draw engines in green, maybe it your meta but using Generous Patron seems like one of those it could bite you later on. Unless im really hard up on lands(which almost never happens) i will always say no to tempt with discovery. If a player hasnt learned to say no then they havent played against the card enough. Everyone i know who saw farewell knew it was going to be an overperformer. It just hoses artifact and enchantment heavy decks. I Saw Etali in preview and new it was going to be broken. And now that iv seen gameplay with Etali and just one instance of this going off can put you so far ahead.
i've got an etali token deck i use green good stuff and treasure tokens to ramp and then copy etali with stuff like twinflame etc. sure the original goes back to the zone but the copy stays and triggers. this is bonkers ngl and btw sunbirds invocation is absolutely op with etali idc about the backside i just rush through everyone's decks and call it a day :D

I love Tempt with Discovery. One thing I use it for is if even 1 person gets a land, my second land is Demolition Field. So if the player get's their coffers or something, I can immediately stop their ramp.
That is so wrong and not a got move i cant even explain it to you. Basically, if that is the second land you're planning to get with tempt, dont play the card in your deck.
@@blakem000 given the scenario only one opponent picks a land which is cabal coffers and you then pick your demolition field as your second pick, you just spent 6 mana for a single utility land plus a basic land, while your opponent also gets a basic land and has a cabal coffers in his graveyard, which he can recure later. Please explain me where this is a good deal for you.
I get why serras emissary is good, but I don’t know why platinum angel is? I’ve found that it can stall the game long enough after reanimating it with some sort of easy reanimation in Sharuum

Generous Patron has also been incredibly good with Volo, Guide to Monsters as the token versión will see the 2 extra counters enter and you will end up drawing 6 cards.
Ob nixilis the fallen is in my angel demon deck with a crazy combo of three cards One is the worse lands in my opinion it returns to my hand every time it taps but if done right with this it is good
Can someone explain why Luxior, Giada's Gift on an opponent's planeswalker would trigger Generous Patron? Because you still need to put the counters on the planeswalker right? So if an opponent activates a +1 planeswalker ability, Generous Patron doesn't trigger, because it is not you putting the counters on it?
I played against Etali, primal conqueror recently as a commander. The deck felt unstoppable. There are so many ways for green and red to quickly ramp into seven mana, and the entire rest of the deck was just ways to make copy tokens of etali, each of which was a four for one. It felt like playing CEDH against Godo, bandit warlord where the instantly kill the entire table the first time it is cast. On turn five, there were multiple copies of apex devastator, etali, a number of random other spells cast for free hitting the entire table for lethal. There aren't many commanders I don't want to play against but I don't see many decks outside of CEDH and its quick infinite combo's being able to beat him or it.
That six mana copy spell is going straight into my mono blue Thyrax deck that cares about big dumb bomb spells! Much more fun to play than say.. Bounce all their permanents.
@@polk-e-dot8177 Most of the convoke cards suck that's why. It's only relatively recently with Clever concealment and Lethal scheme where the cards are really good and very playable
farewell is a total slam dunk BUT i have yet to be convinced that there is a better white boardwipe than winds of abandon. farewell will be exceptionally relevant in so many more instances that i don't disagree that it is in fact the best boardwipe in white but the symmetrical nature of exiling everything simply isn't ideal for me personally. i play several selesnya decks and to be blunt i'ma try to get all my shit back from the gy and loop rude awakening with an eternal witness/skullwinder and finally into a praetor's counsel and rude awakening again with a nyxbloom ancient. edit: to wit, just played a game on cockatrice where i was staring down 30+ 34/34 humans {kyler + call the coppercoats + kindred summons.) everyone else conceded but i had a selfless squire and a blessed respite. they swing and i get a squire with 900+/900 pt. they swing again i fog. i top deck a skullwinder cast wrenn n seven and mill winds of abandon with enough mana to grab it with winder and overload it. G-G .
I just looked up the rules for Serra's emissary and it says you can't chose Supertypes or subtypes it has to be a basic type like Land, Artifact, creature, ect. Subtypes include a specific type of creature but you could do blanket protection from creatures
@Devildude EMZ the reminder text of Convoke says "your creatures can help cast this spell. Each creature you tap while casting this spell pays for {1} or one mana of that creature's color" It's right there on the card lol
I run the new etali in my Mr. Orfeo and had kodama on field when I pulled etali of of a ziatora envoy trigger.....GG. I cheated out 20+ mana worth of spells and creatures.
Generous patron is insanely underplayed in lathiel. I really don't get it. Every game i play it it draws 5-10 cards minimum. put counters on their mana dorks! they aren't going to attack you with that no matter what

Crop rotation or map over discovery all day long gets you any land anyway without caring if you get any bonus or not
In my experience, either that happens or everyone grabs a Ghost Quarter type land

This is the exact reason why I don't run Karthus in my personal Ur-dragon deck. Meta has too many clones and a few players even play bribery.

40 is the correct creature count for Lurking Predators. The whiff rate at 30 is noteworthy.

I run Tempt with Discovery in my Gitrog deck as one of several ways to tutor for Dakmor Salvage. I never care if anyone takes the deal.

I just built a henzie deck for lurking predators. It was insane. I want to see if it's worth it in 40 or 30 creature decks though.
I put Protean hulk in my henzie just because its a guaranteed two card combo.

The battle angels card is importantly a knight as well as an angel. The knight support/precon is what spiked it to 30

The creature needs to be blue to pay for blue mana. Any creature can pay for colorless mana.

I play a pretty evil version of etali that has him as the commander and then a whole bunch of copying creature spells.
My first reaction to seeing farewell was it should be banned. Probably as close to something like sharazad we will ever see.

You can convoke creatures to pay for the colored mana as long as they are black creatures
