    I tried to play Yugioh online after watching some duel clips without filler a couple months ago. I played against a bot and used a toon deck to try and get a feel for the modern meta since I haven’t played since like 2005.
    The bot took so long playing cards that I got timed out on my turn and had to start again. In the space of that turn it played like 20 cards with huge paragraph text boxes I couldn’t read all of in time and, well, it was like watching a game of solitaire. I tried a couple more rounds and then eventually just gave up and decides to leave Yugioh back in the realm of nostalgia.

      Every TCG gets ruined after a few years by the creators. It always starts with banning cards, then changing key elements, and then almost all of the original cards are banned and it's a completely different game.
      Like George Lucas, and Disney they just don't know how to let a good thing be. Before you know it they've rendered your favorite game completely unrecognizable, and unplayable.
      I've seen it a few times, and like Thanos and taxes, it is inevitable.

Why does it have 2 lines of text saying that it can't be destroyed by effects or targeted while in attack position? It's text is "This Attack Position card cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects. Your opponent cannot target this Attack Position card with card effects." Why can they not condense that down to "While in attack position, this card cannot be destroyed or targeted by your opponent's card effects." And why can't they use symbols for things like "(Quick Effect)" and "Once per turn" or effects that can be activated in the grave or hand? They say that they don't want to add effect keywords because it would confuse new players but new players also really don't want to read a novel for half the cards in the game.

Also, the only reason I know Synchro cards is because Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's was my jumping off point where I said, "You know what, maybe I'm getting too old for this."
    Edit: I think some of you are misinterpreting my sheer surprise at just how much Yu-Gi-Oh has changed since I last played it, as some sort of slight at the game/changes to it. I'm not really too bothered with the changes, I was just jokingly poking fun at the amount of stuff I missed. Solo mode sort of does. If you notice from the solo gates, it actually progresses through each summoning method. The first 2 is monarch and elementalsabers, 2 archetypes with no unique summoning. Then Rituals with ruin/demise and Megalith. Then you got fusions through gem-knights and gladiator beasts. Synchros through karakuri and shiranui. Xyz through geargia and digital bugs. Pendulums with Dinomist and Qliphoth. and then finally Links with World Chalice. If you notice, The first version of each set is even the summoning version at its more basic level and then the second version adds a gimmick to the summoning method. Monarchs are just tribute summon but elementalsabers is setting up graveyard to special summon from hand. Ruin/Demise is normal ritual while Megalith uses the monster to ritual summon to form ritual summoning chains. Gem-knights is a simple fusion deck while Gladiator beasts contact fusion. Karakuri synchros on the field while Shiranui synchros from the graveyard. Geargia xyz while digital bugs have inherent rank up xyz mechanics build in. Dinomist is fairly normal pendulum summoning while Qliphorts pendulum to tribute summon tower. And if you go off the side path, you'll learn even odder variations of the deck.

    You know, the funny thing is that in the original Yu-Gi-Oh battle city manga, special summoned monsters weren't allowed to attack the turn they're summoned. If the real life game did that, it would have basically fixed the mass summoning bs

    • @tsukainova1928
      @tsukainova1928 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      It sounds good on paper but most modern decks don't really rely on attacking to win the game since the combo decks just want to set up an Omni negate board, and prefer to go first anyway which they're unable to use their battle phase anyway. That would just cripple anyone going second since they already have to break the negate board only to probably end on a monster they can't attack with, and monster attacking destruction is a pretty good form of removal against Omni negates without floating effects like crystal wing. Plus it would derail a lot of deck strategies like cyber dragon and ancient gears since their whole gimmick is attacking with a big number.

      @@rokingfrost8446 the decks I bought back then were the same price or sometimes cost more than the decks today. Buying a deck that doesn't do well is annoying.
