Hey Rodney, I can't believe 5 years ago my "Watch it played" journey began with Pandemic, the first board game I introduced to my family. We have enjoyed many more games since then. Sadly, my father passed away last week and I just wanted to come and thank you. Your wonderful videos introduced us to many games and helped created so many laughs and memories around the family table that we will cherish forever. Good video, thank you for the sparking memories. Our family always played with a heavy emphasis on the secrecy of "Information-After-Suggestion" phase of the game, keeping your detective sheet away from other eyes (your responsibility) and showing your card ONLY to the "suggesting player" and NOT to any other player 7:35 . Any time there was a skip to the "next" player (because initial player had none of the suggested cards) that was considered a ginormous bit of intel (also your responsibility to utilize).

I remember this game being so frustrating if you're a player everyone wants to accuse. Getting yanked to whatever room that might be far from where you wanted to me, roll-to-move meaning you can just get unlucky on your way back, etc. I kind of wonder if the game wouldn't be almost strictly better if all the dice and movement were taken out and people could just go to whatever room on every turn. Clue with only the decks and notepads would make it much more portable too.
No it’s because he is using the reimagined version of Clue. It’s not the current standard version of Clue where Mr. Green is still Mr. Green here in 2024.
I remember playing this game one time and track ever question and how answered it. Not only did I get the correct card but I also told each player what cards they had even if I did not see those cards.
What are the weapon tokens used for? You place them in the room where they were used in a suggestion, but they don't seem to be used for anything after that.

Also, I'm a little confused about the part at 8:00, how to use the clue sheet, do all the players get one sheet each and like u marked the rope in another box on side for CM, Can u explain how is that going and what're those initials? Hi. Can I make a suggestion immediately after entering the room? Or I can only make my suggestion during my next turn to roll the dice, while still inside the said room?
Such a great explanation of the game. I’m really enjoying your channel. I’ve got a version from the 1970’s that we use here. I must say they’ve done a nice update and haven’t messed the game up as often happens.
Quick question, when the game starts and you start moving one character, does it mean its your character? Or can you switch the charecter you were moving in the beginning with another suspect during your turn??
You'll find that covered here. th-cam.com/video/Vib1LsK4Ln4/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared&t=67 You pick a character and that's the character you control and move during the game.
Loved this video on one of my favorite board games. The clue cards remind me a bit of Discover the Secrets-my favorite Clue spin off they discontinued a long time ago. :(
Thank you so much, we were so confused haha 😂but your voice is so nice to listen to and of course you explained it wonderfully!! Thank you again, and hopefully I win this round 🤞
Hi so after I roll and receive clue symbol and 3 steps , what should I do? pick a clue card do whats needed and after that make a 3 steps + if i enter room I can do suggestion as well meanwhile?
Great video. This latest version is really nice. It's often possible to cross off a card without seeing it if you can work out that someone is holding it.
I'm surprised that the video game version of Clue/Cluedo has some minor differences with the board game version, such as the starting space being the same for everyone.
Hello,I have some questions 🙋♂️ 1. So if I suspect and move them from somewhere to the room I’m in . And some other character is blocking the doorway . Can the character exit the doorway ! 2. After rolling the dice 🎲 can I move only the character which is assigned to me ? 3. If the character I accuse is already in some other room can I still bring the character to the room I’m in ? 4. Do I need exact number on the dice to enter a room ? For example the room I want to enter is 4 steps away… so should I get total of 4 from dice ? Sorry I’m new to this game 😅

Came here to learns the rules after watching Dude Perfect's Mystery Detective Battle video. Rodney thanks for breaking down the rules once on a classic once again.
Hey Rodney loved your video and explanation... i just have two questions:- what if i rolled 6 but i can only move till 4 since someone is infront of me .....shall i just stop at 4 or do i go side and continue till 6 2. what if no one has the cards that i suggested does that mean that i win the game since no one has the card and that must mean those are the exact 3 cards which are in the envelop btw love your videos❤❤❤❤
1) You move up to the amount rolled, so you can move fewer spaces if you want. 2) You only win once you make an Accusation and confirm by looking in the envelope. In many ways, you are right, you "could" have just won, but maybe no one had the cards because YOU had one of them :) Either way, when you're ready to make an accusation, just fallow the instructions in the video and you will be okay :)
If a pawn ended its movement on the square in front of a door, is the player allowed to enter the room or need one more roll? When exiting a room, does the count start with the first square at the door?
@@andreys6459 For your first question, no, they don’t get a free move into the rook from there. When exiting, you count each space you enter. Hope that helps!
I play a different version of the 2 player game (I think it was in the 2012 edition) Before dealing the cards out to the players, put 4 Clue cards to one side of the board then deal out the rest, if a player makes a suggestion that cannot be disproved, then the suggester may look at one of the 4 cards
Question that you (and the rule book) didn’t answer clearly. If you roll a magnifying glass amd draw/play a clue card, is that your whole turn or do you also move your character the number of spaces you rolled? This is a great tutorial by the way!
My friends and I played this yesterday and I couldn't find anything in the rules about this, but if you use a secret passage and make a suggestion that turn, can you (in your next turn) just use the secret passage again, and keep going back and forth?
What happens if you are in a room and another player who is also in your room makes a suggestion about you in the same room you were already in? On your turn can you remain in the same room or are you obliged to move out of the room? I ask because technically you weren’t moved by another player but instead you were still suggested.
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
I have two Questions,1. whats the point of putting the weapons in rooms if you cant do anything with them , 2. When i first got the game i played it as 2 people and we found both if us just rolling to dice and moving around for no reason until one of us got the magnifying glass and got a hint, what are you meant to do just keep moving or make a suggestion?
1) I can't really say that it has a point - it's kind of a strange little rule, right? I guess it's a helpful visual reminder of the items. 2) You'll want to get into a room quickly and make a suggestion - that's how you start getting information quickly.
Nope, the objects on the board are really just to be moved around when you make suggestions so it’s a visual reminder of what your suggestion was. They have no effect on game play otherwise.
Would you be able to do an instructional video for the new version Clue:WWII spies & espionage, PLEASE!! The instruction book that came with it doesn't even describe how to set it up to begin the game. I can't find even one instructional video. HOPEFUL THANKS!

Thanks so much for the best video I've found yet. QQ though. When you roll a magnifying glass, I know you have to draw a Clue card and follow directions, but do you still move your player on the board the number of spaces that the dice total? Also, after you follow the directions on Clue card, is your turn over? Or could you make a suggestion if you land in a room?
After resolving the Clue cards, you then take your turn as normal, using the values showing on the dice to move (not including the die showing the magnifying glass, of course :) ).
@@WatchItPlayed Great thanks. You said to not include the magnifying glass as part of your total when you move your player. But I also heard that the magnifying glass is worth value of '1'. At what point would you include that value in your total? Just confused on that part lol.
@@danroden8561 I apologize for answering without looking up that specific rule first (I lent my copy to a friend, so I had to hunt for a rule book online to get the answer). You are correct, a magnifying glass counts as a 1 for movement purposes, so you add that to the value on other dice. Since clue cards are a variant rule (not part of the core classic edition of the game), I was giving a summary of their function in this video. In the video I also say that if you roll 2 magnifying glasses, you only draw 1 clue card (because my rules said that), but some editions of the rules say you do draw 2. Unfortunately, Hasbro does have a habit of including slightly different rules in different printings, so that part is up for some debate. You should have your group decide, or go by the printed instructions in the edition you have.
@@WatchItPlayed Great thanks! and no worries about losing your book and not being sure. Really appreciate your responses and additional clarification there about the potential rule variants.
Amazing Video! Just one question - If you make an accusation and nobody has those cards and you dont have those cards - How could it be wrong? And you can then immediately make the accusation? Thank you for your amazing insight!
Does anyone know if I draw a clue card that requires anyone holding the library card to reveal it, do I as the drawer of the clue card have to reveal the library if I have it? Or am I exempt since it is my clue card that I drew. I feel like the rules don’t fully explain it. It could force me to give up information when it’s supposed to help me when I roll a one.
If i rolled 5 on dice and i am in any of the room having secret passage like lounge so can i go in conservatory and proceed my turn by moving 5? Please tell me
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
@@traption4617 You only control and manage one character, but they are all put on the board. This is mostly so that you can move those pieces to the related rooms when you make an accusation that includes them.
I haven't counted the number of sheets, but you get a lot, and you can re-use a sheet, assuming you use pencil and erase after. I'm sure if you google you'll find new sheets you could download as well.
So what is the point of moving the weapons to the room? I assume pulling the character piece to the room is to disrupt that players progress in gathering information??
This is one of those odd little rules that doesn't really have any particular impact on game play, but is still "a rule". Not sure why they devised it to work that way.
I might have a copy somewhere in the house. Would you like me to see if I can find it? Tags... Thought they were a thing that didn't work anymore, even though they haven't taken it away? I think that the description holds more weight. You'd know more about that than me though.@@WatchItPlayed
Tip: let’s say you have the rope and know that someone else has(green) and know that someone else has a room(study), you ask either person for the rope, green and the studyroom and they will show you 1 card either green or studyroom now nobody gonna ask you about the rope they will ask others when they ask, before you get the chance to show the rope either you will be able to show another card or someone shows before your turn. Now everybody is confused because the will bet money that you don’t have the rope😂😂😂
First Time playing with these clue cards and the very first card is about revolver and no one had it so we knew straight away it was the gun after only one person rolling the dice. I don't know how I feel about this new system 😆
Got the 2016 Edition with Dr. Orchid for Christmas and everytime we play it my sister keeps calling Mr. Green "Chandler Bing" because she thinks he looks like Matthew Perry and that's just his name now.
I was surprised to learn this myself (here in Canada it's also called Clue) - I added Cluedo to the title of the video in honor of our European friends!
I had a disagreement with my granddaughter last night when, while playing CLUE, she rolled double 6's. She entered the room she wanted in FEWER than 12 spaces, made a suggestion, got the answer, and then claimed she could CONTINUE moving the remainder of her spaces. I disagreed. I said, once you enter a room, you can make a suggestion, and get the answer, but that means you forfeit the remaining spaces of your roll. Who's correct?

Unfortunately, Hasbro does have a habit of including slightly different rules in different printings, so that part is up for some debate. You should have your group decide, or go by the printed instructions in the edition you have.
@@WatchItPlayed Great thanks! and no worries about losing your book and not being sure. Really appreciate your responses and additional clarification there about the potential rule variants.
@@danroden8561 Thanks for understanding, glad I could help!
Amazing Video! Just one question - If you make an accusation and nobody has those cards and you dont have those cards - How could it be wrong? And you can then immediately make the accusation? Thank you for your amazing insight!
In a case like that, you would know everything you need for an accusation!
Since the instruction says "anyone", that would mean you're have to reveal it. An unfortunate turn of events for you!
@@WatchItPlayed Iam still confused help me please
@@ushajangid93 After you use a secret passage, you end your move.
Okay thank you so much ❤❤😊😊 I really liked the way of your explanation I liked your personality too. Your way of speaking is fantastic .
@@ushajangid93 Thank you kindly and have fun playing!
Wait so if im playing with just 2 people do we both have to play all the characters too?
@@traption4617 You only control and manage one character, but they are all put on the board. This is mostly so that you can move those pieces to the related rooms when you make an accusation that includes them.
@WatchItPlayed ohhh gotchu. Thank you!
@ You bet!
whats the point of moving the murder weapon into a specific room ,when a player suggest ??
I personally think it was an excuse to put the cool looking weapon pieces in the game - it doesn't really serve any functional purpose.
I have a question. There’s only 9 clue cards (the cards with the phrases) what happens if all of them are used, can we used it again ?
For the 2023 version
Hi there, does this part of the video address your question? th-cam.com/video/Vib1LsK4Ln4/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared&t=718
How many sheets do you get and can you re use a sheet?
I haven't counted the number of sheets, but you get a lot, and you can re-use a sheet, assuming you use pencil and erase after. I'm sure if you google you'll find new sheets you could download as well.
Can you be locked in a room so you cant move at all if all the doors are blocked?
Yes.
So what is the point of moving the weapons to the room? I assume pulling the character piece to the room is to disrupt that players progress in gathering information??
This is one of those odd little rules that doesn't really have any particular impact on game play, but is still "a rule". Not sure why they devised it to work that way.
Damn bro you are so kind thanks that was helpful since it was our first time opening it but still you are such a kind person
Hey, thanks for the kind feedback, really glad you enjoyed - have a great time playing!
does entering or leaving a room count as 1 move?
Yes. You count the room as a space.
I'm so excited to see Hasbro on your shelf!!🎉 Can you do Monopoly next?
Already have! th-cam.com/video/4nz-_hvFw44/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Do you have Connect 4 and Twister videos?
How do you play it with two players? Didn't get that part.
It’s in the video, please check the index.
can you make sure that you get the UK 'cluedo' into the description somewhere, make sure you get the reach?
I have it in the tags, but I'm not quite sure of Cluedo has the same rule set. Not something I was able to confirm.
I might have a copy somewhere in the house. Would you like me to see if I can find it? Tags... Thought they were a thing that didn't work anymore, even though they haven't taken it away? I think that the description holds more weight. You'd know more about that than me though.@@WatchItPlayed
@@illustrationmakingWould be happy to get confirmation on your copy of Cluedo.
Sneaky!
First Time playing with these clue cards and the very first card is about revolver and no one had it so we knew straight away it was the gun after only one person rolling the dice. I don't know how I feel about this new system 😆
Ha! Quite an early “reveal”!
What is the point of miniature objects moving one place to other.
What will change if those plastic objects do not exist
Not a thing. I’m of the opinion it’s more of a “toy factor” thing for the game.
Why do you put the weapons and character in a room when suggesting ?
I'm not quite sure how to answer that one, as that's more of a question for the game's designer.
@@WatchItPlayed 😅
What if some keeps suggesting your character and you keep getting moved to random rooms
Yep, that can happen.
very good explanation ,me and my family watched the video and was very impressed. thank you very much sir .
I hope you all have a great time playing!
Great video! My favorite edition of clue is the museum caper.
Haven’t tried that one!
Great tutorial😊
Thank you kindly!
I insist, the weapon tokens serve no use then?, you just move them cause the game says so?
Yep!
Just what i was looking for
Very glad to hear it!
They rebooted Clue?? Dr. Orchid has now gone back to a new Chef White? Crazy! Love all the new designs tho.
There have been a variety of character revisions and additions over the years I think.
thank you so much youre brilliant
Glad you liked it - thanks for the kind words!
Ah these crazy new games, whatever will they think of next
Great video
Thank you kindly!
Why do we have weapons, they dont serve any purpuse, I dont understand
Yeah, they really are just a toy factor for the game. They don’t serve a specific purpose.
What if you realize midgame that you're the murderer? Do you bust yourself or try to confuse everyone else in the hopes of getting away?
The only way to win is with a successful accusation, so make sure you do that (even if it’s yourself) and you win.
Got the 2016 Edition with Dr. Orchid for Christmas and everytime we play it my sister keeps calling Mr. Green "Chandler Bing" because she thinks he looks like Matthew Perry and that's just his name now.
A little fun info: In the USA you call it CLUE?? Here in Europe it's called Cluedo.
Please see 5:01
What's the point of moving the item in a room
No particular point that I know of. Just a rule (and perhaps to justify the inclusion of the weapon toys :) ).
Thank you!!
You’re very welcome!
Thanks a lot
You’re very welcome!
That "CM" player should be extra aware of the unnamed "TS" player ...
Wait a minute where are the line of sight rules? I mean once i pick up the pistol...
Those are only included in the Kickstarter edition :)
😂
If you are in the room, can you stay in a room as long as you want and keep making suggestions?

wow. ive been moving my pieces waaaaaaaaaay wrong. LOL

isn't it mr. boddy and not Mr. black
There’s no Boddy…
Different editions give different names.
They've combined the names in the latest edition
