In this shopify image optimization tutorial, I will be showing you how you can optimize your shopify images to improve your website loading speed, seo, and overall performance. Optimizing images for shopify comes down to 2 basic things, image compression, and image file optimization. Image compression can be done manually, or automatically with a shopify image optimization app like Crush.pics. For optimizing image file size you also want to ensure that you are using the correct image file format. Image file optimization involves naming your file name and alt text keywords that match your photo content.

Oh you actually don't have to re upload the images with optimized text, one can just change the images name in the Content -> Files
Does this mean that shopify's auto image optimization does not work? They say that they automatically optimize file compression and file type. However, I haven't found any indication of them actually doing anything and I've checked on many browsers. Files all load exactly as uploaded.
