We called it the "budget Spellground" since it's *technically* made of cloth and it's now something of a meme within my friend group. I've also unironically played a locals using the Budget Spellground mat and the reactions I got were as hilarious as you'd expect.

i have multiple Duel Power playmats to let new/returning players use against another one of mine. i did a 3 way duel with a new player and returning player so we linked them in a triangle, then my Synchron deck bricked and they ganged up on me with their decks of random cards and i lost first 😂 When a Synchron player goes second against a returning player and their Junk Synchron gets Trap Hole'd :'(
I remember when I started, I used an old knockoff paper mat. Eventually I upgraded to a War of The Giants Winged Dragon of Ra mat, which was stolen from my locker at school (or I dropped it, either way, it was gone and I never got it back), so for a short while I reverted to using a paper map of some variety. Can’t remember if it was my original or the Pendulum starter. Then I eventually bought a Battle Pack 3 kit, and started rocking a forbidden spells mat, and it served me well for a while. Then I kinda left for a while. During my hiatus, I entered a Rocket League tournament, and was given a game mat from the Internet cafe that hosted said tournament, so during casual matches afterwards, I decided that was going to be my new mat moving forward, as the cafe closed down soon after. It didn’t see much use. And when I decided it was time for me to competitively return, I bought a mat off wish that had artwork of Megumin from Konosuba on it. Nice little mat, but it’s kinda weird with the extra monster zones. I sadly never went back to play cause building myself a new deck was expensive, and I was never able to finish it. During that time however, my shop was running a giveaway for a leftover Lightning Overdrive mat from the sneak peek, just had to say what my favourite card was and why. So I told this whole story about Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, and that did it. And since then, I haven’t gotten anymore mats. I play to come back to play someday, but only once I have a deck ready to rock. Hopefully an updated U.A deck, but I’m open to some others that won’t break the bank. Been tryna put my D-Maids together, but uh....money, lol
