    Some of you might notice some music changes in a couple scenes later in the movie. These scenes used some John Williams music from Episode III, and since they were the only content ID claims on the video, I decided to edit the original music out, and replace it with other tracks from the game's actual soundtrack instead. I think the replacements work pretty well, but obviously aren't as good as the original John Williams music. If you want to see the movie with the original music intact, however, the versions I offer as downloads on my Patreon do still have the original unedited music. Consider supporting my patreon to get that version:

    This game is fantastic. So great to be given an original star wars tale, as much as I love continuations of the skywalker saga, but to not only get a new story with new characters, but to also be given story and characters that are just as intriguing as they are compelling. Not to mention the great dark souls-esque combat and metroid-like gameplay really makes it such a fantastic game to just jump back into and unlocking more of what it has to offer is a great feeling. Glad you got to make a movie out of it Andy! Thanks :)

    That first fight with the sister, i would have cut out and just showed up to where she says ''what jedi gave their life so that you might live'' and then immediately cut to the cutscene at 23:31 removing the line ''that strike will be your last'' i think it would have looked better, either that, or (as hard as it would be to do) make sure that the characters are in the same general area and direction they are when the cutscene kicks back in. its one thing ive always hated about games is that you'll get in a fight and you'll pummel the guy in say the edge of the area near a wall or something, and then when the cutscene kicks in showing you finishing them off, it happens inthe middle of the area o where next to where you actually were. I know its probably a pain to program it so the characters in scene are in the same place as they were in game. but with how powerful consoles are these days, you would think they would spend more time trying to work out how to do things like that, or how to make it so your characters dialogue actually sounds like they are running if you decide to run halfway through them talking, (and a bunch of other things i think are easy fixes actually) instead of always just trying to make everything look pretty. ''aw guys, this next gen computer your gonna love, it has more ray tracing, and dynamic shaders, and lighting and bla bla bla'' and its like yeah great, but are my characters still gonna clip through the wall, are they still gonna do that weird foot sliding shit they do when you open a door and arent in the exact right spot, or a host of other simple fixable things that we have had problems with games since the mid 90's. sorry, im rambling, i always end up going off on a tandem. its just you see a game as good looking as say, horizon zero dawn....yet the smoke still looks like pieces of card because they still do smoke with pop up like they always have, instead of using say, voxels for volumetric smoke. it wouldnt be hard considering games like BLOOD were usung voxels for the games pick ups, and certain environment assets like the headstones and stuff. and this was decades ago.
    Anyway, great video. I love what you do. I recently fond you the other day after watching Gamers Little Playground do the new Horizon, and it was awful. they didnt listen to the characters and ran everywhere picking up collectables. jumped off a cliff while a guy was halfway through talking to Aloy, they never look at anything like in mass effect, the first time you see the bad guys ship, a character goes ''oh my god,look at that ship'' meanwhile theres GLP with the game camera looking AT THE FLOOR whilst running everywhere just ignoring whats happening. and i got sick of the fact that despite youtube pushing their channel more than any other when searching Game Movies, they dont put in any work at all hardly. maybe a few jumpcuts here and there, but thats it. you should be the number 1 game movie resource with how much work you put in.
    Talkng of, its a shame there wasnt a way to remove the health bars for the fights like the one i mentioned at the start. cuz screw removing them by and. i know youve done that before by the looks of it in the few vids ive watched here since yesterday, but damn, that must take some work.
    anyway, this letter is long enough now. awesome job, best game movie channel ever. keep up the good work man.

    Did you find a way to make the coloration work with one tonemap file this time? I remember you had some trouble with that before

    • @AndyGilleand
      @AndyGilleand  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah I think this one looks particularly great in both HDR and SDR. I recently purchased a Decklink Mini Monitor 4K which allows me to output an accurate HDR signal to my TV for use while grading and rewatching, and I modified the way I determine the brightness and contrast of the HDR image based on that, which helped a lot. Going back to my TLOU2 videos, they definitely ended up too dark in HDR, although they mostly look decent in SDR. Fate of Atlantis was decent but had a few scenes that were too dark. Valhalla had some issues with its HDR that I wasn't totally able to solve, but I think it mostly looked okay. This time I also modified how I determine black levels and highlight rolloff, which I think has resulted in a more natural looking image. So I think this is my best looking HDR/SDR movie yet!
      I think it looks as good as The Force Awakens and Rogue One in HDR too, which are some spectacular looking HDR movies. And that's saying a lot, because the HDR looked pretty washed out on PS4 and PS5, so I put in a lot of work to correct the issues with it. I think I was a lot more successful at recalibrating the colors in this than I was in Valhalla.

    • @icarusgaming6269
      @icarusgaming6269 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AndyGilleand A while ago I asked you about custom in-game shaders for older games like AC1 with nonexistent blacks. What I forgot to mention is that they're pretty easy to learn how to program yourself if the presets are too different from vanilla for you. Do you see that any differently now that you've learned how to do color grading?

    • @AndyGilleand
      @AndyGilleand  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@icarusgaming6269 I'm not sure if I remember that conversation, but I think with the tools I have now, I can correct problems like that for pretty much any game without the need for anything like reshade or whatever. The only major issue I could see is if black levels change wildly in each scene, as usually I apply a LUT to the entire video, but I did make some adjustments in Valhalla for some scenes that didn't look great with my LUT, so I can always do stuff like that scene by scene.

    This channel has a quality that is really unmatched in TH-cam. I spent 4 hours enjoying myself and watching the best Star Wars property that have been produced since 2004, lol. I dont understand how Disney produces garbage like the Acolyte and a video game does such a better job producing a hearfelt and fun STar Wars story. My complaint is that Vader should not appeared. He is too OP. Vader should only be used in GrimDark stories.

      I haven't played any of the From software games. From what I can tell, they don't really look like games that would appeal to me. They also don't seem like any of them would really translate that well as movies from what I've seen. I think a good way to gauge what's a good choice for my channel is to ask yourself whether it's just as interesting to watch as it is to play. The games I do tend to have a particular cinematic flare to the animation, camera work and other visual aspects, and tend to focus on story first and foremost.
