The 3 in the center Scott, Kirsten, and Mitch have been singing together since their high school days in Texas. Avi was the original bass member of the group, and was replaced by Matt. Kevin the amazing beat boxer, also sings, plays cello and other instruments.

Scott is baritone/tena. He fills bass when Matt/Avi are leading. But he is about 5 octave range.

Kirsty, Mitch and Scott have all been singing together since high school. They found Avi Kaplan who was the original bass. You remember him from the original hallelujah he had the beard. He had to leave the group because he didn’t want to keep up with the touring. So they brought in this new bass that you see in this video who is great! Kevin is the boxer, but he is a great tenor plays the cello and the flute. They found Kevin when they were going to be on the TV show that actually launch their career. I don’t subscribe to many people, but I appreciate the way that you truly watch the videos and don’t stop and talk through them! I think he would be really happy to watch the prayer as well as amazing Grace.

A little PTX background. They won the 2011 season of Sing Off. They were amazing. The most amazing part is that they had never worked together as a group before ONE week before auditions, and ended up winning the whole thing. (Actually, Kirsten, Scott and Mitch knew each other from high school and had sung as a trio). Avi (the bass with the beanie and beard) and Kevin (the beatboxer) joined right before the auditions. Avi left the group amicably in 2017 and Matt Sallee was brought in to replace him. They have three Grammy's and a world-wide audience. With Christmas fast approaching, you should watch some of their Christmas songs.
In order from left to right in this video, you have Matt Sallee (Bass), Kirsten Malodano (Mezzo-Soprano), Scott Hoying (Baritone/Tenor), Mitch Grassi (High Tenor/Soprano) and Kevin Osoula (Beatbox/tenor/cello.)

"The Sound of Silence" was composed and performed by Simon & Garfunkel in 1964, not by the group Disturbed.
Great line about Kirstin's talent and dark hair for "Sound of Silence" but full blonde for "Hallelujah" both in the desert and the live version from the Christmas Special. She and Mitch change their looks frequently but it's the same person. Avi left in 2017 and replaced by Matt.

I knew you'd love them! SO happy you checked them out. Sucks about Bohemian Rhapsody. But, as others have pointed out, we all know their videos by heart, so don't hesitate to put a filter over them. Anyway, Pentatonix have won three Grammys: for their Daft Punk medley, for Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy (aka, the song without words played by artists without instruments) and Jolene.

This rabbit hole is amazing and quite deep. Great reaction! I would recommend PTX’s “evolution of” videos. My favs of those are michael jackson, beyonce and ariana grande. I would also recommend “sing”, “new rules x are you that somebody”, “somebody that i used to know”, “la la latch”, “say something” and “shallow”. Those are a few of my favorites from them. They have such a wide range and can sing anything. I would love to see more!

Pentatonix is an amazing group. Love this cover by them and I also love Disturbed's cover. David Draiman's version is very moody displaying anger towards the end for a warning not listened to (many have stated that Simon and Garfunkel's original version was a warning). For me, PTX version sounds uplifting yet with sadness, bittersweet if you will and there is no choosing a favorite between them. I will gladly listen to whichever version is presented and be happy for it. I am glad you have reviewed both groups and you are quickly becoming a favorite reactor, especially because of your Home Free reactions in addition to PTX and Disturbed. Hoping you will do some more Disturbed in the future :)

I think you have the right sense of humor to watch The Wizard of Aaaahs (yes that’s correct). Pentatonix and Todrick Hall are phenomenal together. All the songs can be linked to the storyline of Wizard of Oz. You’ll understand it when you see it (as long as you have actually seen the 1939 film with Judy Garland). While you’re at it check the video just dropped today from their Christmas album, Evergreen. The song is The Prayer. Have fun. Love your reactions. The original singers, Simon and Garfunkel, brought their own emotion to this song. One singer, or singers, can be equally as good. It’s like saying they are trying to copy someone else instead of their music standing it’s own.

Nice that you followed my recommendation and listened to the Pentatonix version. Pentatonix was the first a cappella band to become a huge hit with audiences. Followed (chronologically) by Home Free and Voiceplay. All three bands are top notch, each doing their own style. Personally, I'm more of a homefrie. Still, you should definitely check out Imagine from Pentatonix. John Lennon would be delighted. If you've already heard Christmas carols: Mary did you know is also awesome.
