Ive done this a few times and its really cool to watch. Especially when a different part that looked funky moves and looks a lot better. Im hoping to find a way to work on minis that have been painted already. Maybe a heatgun.
I would be a little concerned that a heatgun would make acrylic bubble if used too much/high, but if used a little it may rent the paint juuuust pliable enough as well. If you give it a go, let us know how well it works!

A hairdryer works well if you are carefull.
