Yes, I didn't really notice it before, (because it was a little early) but I agree. You definitely improved your gameplay loop. I'm glad you caught it so quickly! That could have been a real problem.
embrace the void!!! Love the reference. Excited for the game too. I'm trying to make my own game too, but I keep on redrawing everything b/c my art skills get better, so am kind of stuck. Glad to see that others are making progress lol. (I'm very picky about my own art though, so am happy with the amount of time its taking)
I know the feeling of wanting to redo everything lol, but there's always the next project! If I could go back I'd choose something less ambitious for my first full game
The game looks pretty good so far! How'd you come to that conclusion about your game loop? You mentioned dev bias with your game, but I feel like that bias is pointed in the opposite direction. Devs work on their game for so long, playing it feels much less fulfilling to them. It may be useful to try pitching your idea to one of your more cynical friends lol. Still I agree with the added weapon choices, seems like a really good addition for the game ❤
Thanks! And I think it goes both ways! When I'm developing some new feature or item and it finally works, I feel overwhelmingly proud. But when I sit down and actually play a run, observing how everything fits together, that's when I'm able to view the game with a more critical eye. But I agree that it's always good to get outside feedback. That's why it's all the more important to check out the new demo when it's out! :)
dude this game was getting really amazing... i watch all devlog at once right now! sure i'am adding this to my cart, ooohhh wise list... as a programmer that love play and make games myself (no one published so far) felt inspired to try some game maker engine, i'am creating games with pure code for soo long, and my on going project has some months since i create the first file, is a rogue-lite 2D side view... for now i generate a island with fixed spawn, boss and escape points (no tree rocks or any major stuff than the terrain) Also, made levelup mechanic, because my main inspiration was vampire survivals at first, followed with nomad survivals, you can even notice this by my game title, what i want to reveal in a another channel, i guess, this is my personal channel and account, not sure if if mix all up... Anyway, i guess lot of my trouble is making some basic features work... For now i have tons of stuff, inventory and other stuff... But is hard to make and work properly... Anyway, your work is really amazing to know... About sound, where did you get free effects? i did some really bad voice ones to try at first LOL... i'am a programmer, not much artist or sound creator, soo, kind sucks on those tasks and even if i want to make all my game, i know some stuff we just let others make, as long it fits the game it is okay to let others focussed people do they own job and get really amazing quality content LOL
Thanks for watching! A lot of my sounds I got from itch.io. There are tons of great sound packs on there- many are paid, but there are free ones too. I've also searched on freesound.org/ and found some good ones!
Not sure if you will reply to a 4 months-old video, but I really wonder what is the sprite size of the main character and the viewport (or window) size of the game? Im thinking of making a game and the proportions of the character and window seem pretty good. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching! This is an important decision to think about early on. For me, everything is divided up into 16x16 tiles, and the player takes up 1 tile. Level templates are 18 tiles wide by 11 tall. Viewport changes slightly based on the display, but it's around 256x144 and everything gets scaled up. A relic that reduces knockback instead of increasing it would be cool
The game looks so much meatier since the last update! Keep up the good work!
Just found these Devlogs... I'm rooting for you! This looks like a great concept, and I'd love to see it come to fruition!

Very interesting to see all the progress. If you ever need any music for the game, we could talk about it.
Wow this all comes together very nicely! Good job!
Holy hell he’s back
Awesome! I love the fluid animations

Do you have a relic that makes you deal bonus damage to enemies with status conditions because if you don’t that would be a cool idea
Yeah! Right now I have ones that deal extra damage to enemies with poison/bleed and there will probably be more
awesome! Great work and devlog, keep it up!
yesss!!! I love your devlogss
That's a really cool game! However I think the blacksmith should be a UI instead of text, would make it easier to navigate
