I'm proud to say I studied guitar with Jamie West Oram (The Fixx's guitarist) for a few years. He was not only a fantastic guitarist and musician that taught me to focus on my feel and tone, but he was a supremely gifted teacher. He would never admit it either, as he was one of the most modest and lovely people i've had the pleasure of knowing.
They have changed their sound, they are sounding a lot like U.2. I liked the way they sounded in the 80's a lot better. The song wrinting was better in the 80's too.
Antonio Celiento - Fell head over heels in love with The Fixx over here in New Zealand in the '80s - I turned 20 in '83 and a friend gave me the 'Reach The Beach' LP on vinyl as a birthday gift and I still have it [it was released on 15 May 1983, my birthday is in November]. I have always been intrigued with the lyrics of The Fixx songs especially, as well as the great sound of the group. They were v big over here in New Zealand. I loved quite a few Great British/UK groups from the '80s who used the synthesizer...groups such as New Order [I loved Joy Division], The Clash, The Cure, Roxy Music, David Bowie, The Psychedelic Furs, Blondie, Ultravox, Simple Minds, Big Country, The Smiths, Duran Duran, The Jam, Tears For Fears, & Joe Jackson. I also loved Australian groups Icehouse, Hunters & Collectors, The Angels, Hoodoo Gurus, The Church, Men At Work, INXS, & Australian Crawl. Loved American groups of the '80s; The Cars, Talking Heads, The Police, The Pretenders, Van Halen, and Meatloaf...just a few...
Love reading the comments here. It's now 2021 and the Fixx are still at it, still tour and still are great. Loved them since I'm 15. No internet then (1980's) so I was all alone and knew no other Fixx fans. So happy to now connect with others who "get it!"
Well here is one Fixx fan whom is fixed, i found them in the mid eighties, i was 34 or something, really shimmering in many facets of playing, singing, harmonies, they take you away, i know, no one really ever heard of these magicians Terri Leckner, Montreal
Remember living/working with my cousin in New Mexico almost 17-18 yrs. ago and riding along with him making deliveries from town to town. During our many trips between towns, we listened to a 120 min. mix tape of nothing but The Fixx that I had... Still remember driving back home on a particular long stretch of lonely desert road, tired and worn out from our days work, with _'Woman On A Train'_ followed by _'Facing The Wind'_ blasting from the stereo while trying to beat a huge supercell storm approaching from the east. Hot, blistering sun shining on you from the right and the blackest clouds and angriest lightning encroaching from the left, nothing but desert as far as you could see on either side, sweet desert rain aroma in the air, racing the beeline home... One of the best memories I'll ever have. *_THE FIXX RULES..._*
He's just one of those musicians who serves the music & makes everyone else sound better. Very tasteful. And I think stylistically unique in the world of pop music.
Still among the best bands of any genre and any timeframe. They have the added cachet of being birthed in the eternal 80's. Saw them during the Elemental Tour in the late 90's. Awesome, moody and deep with a musicianship that puts them in the prog category in my eyes. They have a unique sound and message.
I caught them on that tour as well in 1998. Small club, maybe 400 capacity. They were so humble and played just like it was 40K. My gal and I were in the front row. I gave her a long-stemmed rose that she ended up tossing onstage. Cy picked it up and scented it, and held onto it...of course! It was a barn-burner of a show. They played all the memorable hits and a bunch of others. I love The FIXX!

They should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame sooner than later. I get to see them again in a few days, really looking forward to it.
I'm awestruck by how good they still are & still same original band for 4 decades nobody on the band has skipped a beat or lost their voice wish they would come to my local town would be awesomeness
Most of the musicians from the 80's are so ahead of their time. The Fixx is another fine example! I haven't listened to "One Thing Leads To Another" for decades and it STILL sounds so refreshing as if it's a newly released hit single in 2021.

Saw the Fixx July 2019 in Colorado during their summer US tour. Wow. Was amazed by the musicianship and energy. Last time I saw them live was the Reach The Beach tour, '83 or '84. They are even better now, perfect show musically. Still at the top of their game.
The Fixx are always talking about thoughtful things, introspection, questioning reality, etc. Deeper and deeper stuff. That's why they didn't really catch on with the mainstream. For me, desert island material.
Been a Fixx Fan from the moment I heard those two chords ringing out to begin "Stand or Fall" in '82. A unique and inspiring Band...and Cy's lyrics are deep and stimulating. Just added "Real Time Stood Still" to my collection....great live tour de force !! Going to see them for the Nth time Sept. 3 in NYC !! Keep it going gents....
A friend bought me their second LP 'Reach The Beach' released on 15th May 1983, for my 20th birthday in November 1983. I still have the LP in my collection and play it when the need arises. The '80s was an incredible decade for me over here in New Zealand. Was very fortunate to see and experience many live gigs in pubs and sports stadiums. Pulled an 'all-nighter' with friends when "Live Aid" went down on 13th July '85. I really like your comment that The Fixx are an under rated band as that is so totally correct in my opinion. And that is sort of the story of their life. Make no error though. Many under rated bands are so often better than their so called 'successors' i.e. bands who sell mega albums and pull mega $ for their record companies. The music industry (and I'm generalising here) can be a filthy industry...Pink Floyd's 'Welcome To The Machine' is testimony to that plus they also have other songs referencing the music industry as a 'gravy train'...However The Fixx I believe have always stayed loyal to themselves and their fans and never surrendered to over-commercialisation. That's why they are so good in my opinion. Best wishes to you. Leighton (New Zealand)

This is fantastic: the sheer personality and musicianship of these guys can make a small venue swell and puff up into a big arena of happy people. Please carry on forever!
This is great to see them play to an enthusiastic crowd finally that appear to appreciate them and they’re getting a good reaction from the crowd! In Hamburg they know great music when they hear it!
I agree with Regis, the rare combination of great musicians, great songs and sound all their own. The most amazing thing is they are still doing it, with the original members, after over thirty years! I think they realize each members unique ability and how truly difficult it is to replace that chemistry. I sure hope they will come back and do another Moondance Jam show in Walker Minnesota! Love the bass player, just stands there and lays it down!
I first heard them on KROQ when I moved to L.A. in the early 80's. I saw today that the are appearing locally - didn't know they were/are still together. Found this video - YAY! Unique!
Great guitarist, Rupert Hines used him on many studio projects with other newly signed bands trying to recreate a similar success. Most ended up as one album bands.
Great video. Audio sounds wonderful. I guess I fell off the "Fixx Wagon" after Cy's Solar Minimum in 2009. I only found "Beautiful Friction" a couple of weeks ago and learned they had a show here last August! I became a fan when I bought the "Saved By Zero" 45 and played it over and over. Still have it, too. "BF" is fantastic and their live show is still amazing! I hope they come back here now that I'm all caught up!
Listen to how great they sound! Amazing group! I still like the Fixx! I don’t know why they have been overlooked. They sound better then ninety five percent of the other bands out there. Long Live the Fixx! 😎👏🏻🎸
@Jason Forbes. Very well put !!....I've seen ALL the great bands that have come down the pike since the late 60's and , yes they were all excellent BUT The Fixx were very special to me...a unique blend of all the elements that make a for an unforgettable experience. I've seen them countless times and enjoyed every single moment of every show. One memory that I'll always remember was in '86, when they were opening for the Moody Blues. They were absolutely fantastic. My friends and I thought they were better than the Moodies !! "Built for he Future" was a particular standout.!! Vive le Fixx !!
Early 80's I was a just out of high school teenager and music was something I wanted to pursue as a career ( bold ambition lol ) As a beginning bassist during that era I was inspired by songs I could play. I also attended many new wave, UK performers in the 80-90's concerts. I will admit that this was one band I regret never getting the chance to see live. Great UK music back then! I couldn't appreciate all their musicianship back then but they sound freaking tight after 20+ yrs. The drummer and bassist are solid!
I don't see old fat men playing old songs without a spirit.... no, I see and hear fresh, mature, good looking young-at-heart musicians still having something to express. Still with understatement, still underrated! Same Line up as before, I think. First heard them '83 saw some great Fixx partys between '87 and '94, best in '89 Frankfurt Batschkapp.
LOVE how they go into Tina Turner's "Be Good To Me" during "Secret Separation". That was an awesome medley. So cool when bands do that! My old 80's band used to do Steppenwolf's "Born To Be Wild" and then go into the full length performance of Rush's "Working Man" during the solo section, and then back to the Steppenwolf song... and then usually Rush's "Tom Sawyer" right after that (all of those songs in the key of Em, so it worked perfectly). Anyways... love it when bands do live medleys. U2 does that a lot too.
I like their innovative sound and enjoyed their music then and now. Saved by Zero played on radio here in the U.S. and then saw the video on MTV, was hooked. I remember sporting a Fixx button I bought from a record store. Some thinks-he's-cool fellow high schooler said "the Fixx? You gotta be kidding me?" I said NO, I'm not. Well the band is still intact with ALL original members touring and releasing new albums that sound great. I really like Beautiful Friction. You can't say that for many 80s bands. Still fantastic music and would still wear that button. There are a couple of recent concerts here on TH-cam that I really like, this concert in Germany is one of those. I also like the 07/04/2015 of July in Florida video.
Oh I almost got into a fight at school over Fixx buttons. I wore mine to class and a snotty girl said, "Eewww The Fixx, they suck!" I was like "F off, who cares what you think?" lol She thought bands like RATT and The Scorpions were cool, gimme a break LOL
Much of that German Tour wound up on the live CD "Real Time Stood Still" which is really an amazing record. I highly recommend adding it to your Fixx collection !! ....Auf Weidesehn !!...
One of the most emotionally-stimulating bands in music history. And, sadly, the most underrated. Cy is the genius Prince and Michael Jackson aspired to be but fell abysmally short. That said, that poor drummer looks he's going to require an ambulance ride home.
I've had "React" on vinyl since it came out in " 86-87....also have the cd and even cassette versions. ...some feally great studio trax on that disc as well.
I'm zero for 3 now. I'm beginning to think that Mr. Woods does not want his keyboard to work properly whenever he has to play 'One Thing Leads to Another'. The video from The Bing Lounge from a few years ago, as well as another from a different venue. Other than that, great video, and Cy sounds just as great as he ever did! Props to the band for their tireless efforts as well, much appreciated!
29:30 - This live version of Outside is awesome! 2:02:03 - I see there are jerks who steal the setlists in Hamburg Germany too. He almost knocks the microphone stand over getting to it.
Super gute Musik... Wann kommt ihr denn mal wieder nach Deutschland in die Zeche nach Bochum oder so? Hamburg geht natürlich auch ich warte auf euch, bin ein großer Fan von euch... Grüße aus Hattingen
Brian Eno/Harold Budd have uncredited claims to the intro transition. Check out their brilliant album "The Pearl". BTW, I don't disparage The Fixx at all for not giving credit. After all, this is TH-cam.
Great setlist. Aside from something crazy like Kingdom Christsake, I can't say they skipped anything I would have wanted... Ok, maybe Subterranean or Calm Animals... or Two Different Views, or Roger and Out... ok, maybe I would want a few more songs.

Really impressed by the high quality of this video (images and sound are great!)
I don't see old fat men playing old songs without a spirit.... no, I see and hear fresh, mature, good looking young-at-heart musicians still having something to express. Still with understatement, still underrated! Same Line up as before, I think. First heard them '83
saw some great Fixx partys between '87 and '94, best in '89 Frankfurt Batschkapp.
I love the fix bring back the 80s
Sounds Superb in 2020! Great vocals and musicianship. Great all the way around.
I found them on Nickalodeon! Live show, very good.
A real Time Machine. Just press PLAY and go back to 1984. Enjoy the ride!
Damn they still rock hard! WONDERFUL band! I love Cy's hat!!!!
Thanks for the upload!!
Much of that German Tour wound up on the live CD "Real Time Stood Still" which is really an amazing record. I highly recommend adding it to your Fixx collection !! ....Auf Weidesehn !!...
What a jewel! Thanks for posting.
They should have been HUGE!
My favorite band.
Bad management.
One of the most emotionally-stimulating bands in music history. And, sadly, the most underrated. Cy is the genius Prince and Michael Jackson aspired to be but fell abysmally short. That said, that poor drummer looks he's going to require an ambulance ride home.
My dear Fixx, thanks for these musical gems ~
YES! THANKS FOR POSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Great band, so underrated!
The Fixx are not a one hit wonder band, they have quite a menu of good songs, Fixx fans know what I mean.
I've had "React" on vinyl since it came out in " 86-87....also have the cd and even cassette versions. ...some feally great studio trax on that disc as well.
one of the best bands for all times. believe it
Thanks again for sharing those great moments!
What a great show! Just got my tickets for their show August 14th. Can't wait! They're playing with The B52's and The English Beat.
superb ! thx for posting...got an unreleased show from 2007 I'm gonna be uploading...
Do it please! Cheers!
Excelente Concierto!!!. Muy bueno!!!!. Realmente música de verdad!!!
Rock n Roll is alive and kicking
mooi!
THE FIXX IS IN.
Super gute Musik... Wann kommt ihr denn mal wieder nach Deutschland in die Zeche nach Bochum oder so? Hamburg geht natürlich auch ich warte auf euch, bin ein großer Fan von euch... Grüße aus Hattingen
Completely underrated.
Lyrically astounding.
Been so kick ass to be there
DANG, wish I could download this
it used to be pretty easy to download stuff from youtube, I think you still can with certain firefox addons.
try free 4k downloader with firefox
I saw them in Muenster on the INK tour. It was awesome!
Nice
Great
Brian Eno/Harold Budd have uncredited claims to the intro transition. Check out their brilliant album "The Pearl". BTW, I don't disparage The Fixx at all for not giving credit. After all, this is TH-cam.
seeing them tomorrow at the hard rock in Vancouver
groovy
cool
Great setlist. Aside from something crazy like Kingdom Christsake, I can't say they skipped anything I would have wanted... Ok, maybe Subterranean or Calm Animals... or Two Different Views, or Roger and Out... ok, maybe I would want a few more songs.
Adam and Dan K are Metronomes.....like Machines!!!
All original lineup? Absolutely great band.
Rock London 80´s very good
Will you EVER visit us in the UK? PLEASE!
No "Sign of Fire" which is my fave, wonder why they rarely sing this live?
They did it a few times on the "fan requests" tour last year.
