You did a very great job with this, even with all the finishing wiring connections. Great work and thanks for taking the time to record. I know it takes twice the time when you have to worry about filming and editing as well. Props!
Really nice build! Thanks for the inspiration. I don’t personally like the ac outlet without protection from rain but I live in the PNW. But real inspirational! Thanks.
Great job, I really appreciate the extra effort. I used pocket hole screws on mine and wish I'd done the tongue/groove. The pocket hole screws move the material 1-2 mm out of alignment as they tighten down. Everything works out...but the precision of your fit looks way better.
I really liked the video was really awesome, i just got my 1999 4Runner came from the shop yesterday I just saw your video and it’s really good, and to do the same thing you did, thanks again.
Impressive work for your first time! I just picked up a Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ and will be building one very similar to yours but I think I’ll order the dado blades for the table saw just to ease up on the work load as I’m a lot closer to retirement than you, lol! I’ll do the fridge like yours but I’m also putting in a stove/grill along with onboard water supply. I can’t wait to get started on my project!!!
Well done! I like the double drawers...really utilizes the space well and makes for a better camp kitchen. It's very satisfying to build something like that and put it to use. I've built a sleeping/storage a platform for my 3rd gen 4Runner without drawers, but that is my next project. I used the identical toungue and groove joints for mine too...very strong!
Fantastic work. You did such a wonderful job and to top it off you haven't done anything like this. You should be proud of the outcome. I had to look at the video date. You paid a Biden premium for the materials. That's going to hit me with my build in a few months. I like your design but I'll add a few more bells and whistles to mine. Once again, great work. Keep it up. Those skills will serve you well through your life.
Absolutely awesome job, Carter!!! Thank You!! The only addition I will do with my build is drilling of holes with Forstner bits in hidden areas for both weight reduction and ventilation to eliminate any potential for mold from condensation. Great Job!!
So I'm only watched a few of your videos but you seem very knowledgeable in the outdoor 4Runner life so for that I subscribe and a notification Bell thank you for your knowledge and I can't wait for the following content so I myself can learn more from you thank you
Thanks man! I don't do this full time, but love these trucks more than anything. They'll definitely be more 4Runner content coming out in the near future;)
Fantastic video Carter I have only just started watching you last night I’m enjoying watching your content. If you wanted your drawers to look that much better run some marine carpet on them they just look so much better
Awesome build! I am curious how tall your platform/ drawers are and what your thoughts are abt fridge on top on its own slides vs slightly recessed like you did.
Nice vid man! I just finished putting mine together that I designed. I spent most of my time in CAD then just had it cut out on CNC, saved so much time
Great build man! Any chance you’d be willing to share dimensions of everything? Also what size sex bolts did you use? And how many? Much appreciated, thanks! Keep up the great work!
Yessir! I'd love to do that. Unfortunately it's a one off and with it in the vehicle it's pretty hard to get measurements from it (it's a bitch to get in and out). My best advise, without having the actual measurements right now, is start with what hardware you want: in my case I wanted the 3 foot drawer slides. Also think about how tall you want the platform to be - I found it was much easier to make it tall enough to cover the wheel wells completely. I know that's probably not the answer you're looking for but hope it's some help. If there's anything specifically you want me to measure let me know and I can try to get it for ya
Awesome job on the build and video! Question about using a single locking drawer slide per drawer: Does it seem less secure than if both sides had locking slides? Seems nice to be able to unlock with 1 hand but worried it might wobble a bit when extended.
I've just found your channel (from the headlight retrofit video) and I must say, great work! Im inspired! How much do I have to throw you to build me the same setup?? ;)
Hmm good question. Drawer slides were the most expensive... about $600 for 3 pair. I would say in total about $800. With that said I think you could save probably $300 or so depending on where you buy the material (and of course the complexity of the build). I just wanted to go a little overkill so they would last forever. Anyway hope that helps you estimate
Thank you amigo for all you’re details And you right solidwoodworks is great thank you I have 1999 4 runner I am going not do it.. yes…😅you did a great build..
Dude, you have the knack for wood working.
You did a great job for not having the experience. You’re talented & humble. Thank you
Thanks for the nice comment man, love learning and sharing the experience along the way!
That was the best drawer system build video I’ve seen! Nice clean design. Everything worked out well because you took your time.
You did a very great job with this, even with all the finishing wiring connections. Great work and thanks for taking the time to record. I know it takes twice the time when you have to worry about filming and editing as well. Props!
Thanks man! Really stoked on how it came out. It definitely takes longer to film this stuff. Love sharing it tho:)
Such a RAD build Carter!!!
Thanks brother! Stoked on this one:)
Wow, that came out so nice! Great job with the tongue and groove.
Thanks a bunch! Super stoked on the design
really good that you bolted the base down so it won’t move
Yeah game changer! That was one of my biggest design points I wanted to make sure was done right💪
Really nice build! Thanks for the inspiration. I don’t personally like the ac outlet without protection from rain but I live in the PNW. But real inspirational! Thanks.

Great job it looks very good for someone as young as you are in the video everything looks like a 20 year professional did the work good job
U DID AN AWESOME JOB SWEETHEART 🎉🎉🔥🔥🔥
Looks absolutely amazing man! Great work on the build and filming this.
Thanks man! Glad it helped
Thanks for sharing this build! Definitely has me excited to build one now!
Great job with the project, Saved and will be using this for my cabinet build on the Wrangler. Again, great job!
That's sick! I'm building my own right now and they aren't that nice but I'm exited to see your set up. Gives me a ton of ideas! Awesome video man.

Bloody great job mate - was that 3/4 plywood you used for the unit?

Yeah, really happy with how these guys turned out:) Definitely a satisfying project. The tongue and grove system works wonders!
Good job. Looks great

Will you do a video on how you wired in the inverter and rear electrical???
i would also love to see that
Awesome build. I just got a new 4runner so will definitely use your video as a reference for my build
You need to get a 5th gen and build a drawer system for it. Then build me one. 😊😅 Very nice build!
Great video. Any update on the more in depth look?
Absolutely awesome job, Carter!!! Thank You!! The only addition I will do with my build is drilling of holes with Forstner bits in hidden areas for both weight reduction and ventilation to eliminate any potential for mold from condensation. Great Job!!
Yes! Great idea. This system definitely weighed the rig down a bit. But it makes the whole back space so functional. Cheers!
Awesome job bro.
Great video! Definitely gave me some ideas for my Gladiator.
Great build! 👍 I really think you should look at a shiftpod tent. RTT's are heavy and $$$. Or maybe look at a swag.
nice work bud, anybody can do anything almost with the right motivation, Thanks for sharing...Yah bless...doug
Thanks for watching and the kind comment!

Nice job 👍
What kind of plywood did you use? Also what thickness
That's pretty dang cool
Great work
Awesome; make one for my 4Runner 5th gen
Fantastic video Carter I have only just started watching you last night I’m enjoying watching your content. If you wanted your drawers to look that much better run some marine carpet on them they just look so much better
Great build, you should make a video on the invertor build in the back. Any battery in the back?
Yes! Finally getting back to posting some content. I'll be doing a detailed walkaround in the spring here soon.
Looks awesome! Good job 👍
Great work, I will be using a lot of these built techniques. Thank you, If you are still responding, how much do you think that weighs?
I love it. I might need to make an upgrade for my 4runner. Great work.
Thanks man! Definitely worth it
Awesome build! I am curious how tall your platform/ drawers are and what your thoughts are abt fridge on top on its own slides vs slightly recessed like you did.
Sick build!
Looks great! Keep it up!
Excellent job!!!!!
Nice vid man! I just finished putting mine together that I designed. I spent most of my time in CAD then just had it cut out on CNC, saved so much time
Haha if I had access to a CNC that would be the way to do it... Oh well I built some muscles this wayXD
Cool build man your build explains it better I will be building one like yours soon for my 5 gen 4 runner
Can't wait to see it! Having these drawers makes the camp live so easy:)
Make a video of how you installed the inverter/wiring for the usb etc please
Digging yer content man. Keep up the good work.
You did great
This looks awesome well done!
Thanks mate!
Nice job
Nice job!!!
I cannot find your next video on this build. Did you ever make one? Im interested in learning more about it.
No ha, not yet. Been caught up with other life, but I'll get to it this spring!
Awesome Sauce!!
🙌
Great build man! Any chance you’d be willing to share dimensions of everything? Also what size sex bolts did you use? And how many? Much appreciated, thanks! Keep up the great work!
Looks awesome man 👍
Thanks brother!
Genius.
Great job man! you should make a dimensions list, would help many 3rd gen enthusiasts!
Yessir! I'd love to do that. Unfortunately it's a one off and with it in the vehicle it's pretty hard to get measurements from it (it's a bitch to get in and out). Solid build. Love the attention to details. Got a link to the hinges you used for the side flap ups?
Thanks mate! I forgot about that, I'll add that link to the description
I like it. is that the switzerland area at the end?
This is a really nice build great job. The double slide out is ideal. Have you found the bed liner to smell up the truck?
Lets go bro gunna try this on my 4th gen!
Cheers brotha! You’re gonna love it💪
How did you decide which drawer slide length to get? That seems to be the one thing I'm not sure on yet.
Does the inverter wear down your battery?
If I leave it running yes. Generally I only use it while I'm driving or as an emergency backup if I run out of juice on my battery bank
I've just found your channel (from the headlight retrofit video) and I must say, great work! Im inspired! How much do I have to throw you to build me the same setup?? ;)
Haha glad you found the channel! I don't know if you wanna hear the answerXD
Saweet!
Yeah buddy! Stoked on it:)
can you share your plans?
If i had any I wouldXD Unfortunately this was a one off. I really just made it up as I went along
How much did you spend on this whole build? Thanks
Hmm good question. Drawer slides were the most expensive... about $600 for 3 pair. I would say in total about $800. great job and it didn't cost you 5k
Shout out to McGukins
McGucks is the plug.
Damn, hate it when presenters start with: "What's up TH-camrs?" So juvenile!! I immediately want to push the off button!!
Yeah! What an idiot, people like that should be banned from the internet😤
Nice job!
