Disorder. Disease. And illness are more teems medical doctors should use. Someone who is sad isn't ill in literal sense

I once read that at least one chain of Hospitals in the U.S. had stockholders and felt extra pressure to be profitable in order to keep their stockholders happy, They had a routine practice of checking for how many days of Psychiatric Hospitalization an incoming patient had Insurance Coverage before the patient was first examined by a Psychiatrist. If the person had good Insurance, they would find ones to ask the new patient questions so that they could report the person as being suicidal.. Then they would make sure to arrange the person stayed in the Hospital until their Insurance ran out, even if it was very disruptive for their life and meant the person would lose their job, etc. At the same time, if someone had no Insurance and not enough money to be hospitalized - they would turn them away, even if the person really needed some type of care. In Canada, Hospitalizations in Public Hospitals are paid by the Government, so the Hospitals can maximize the number of patients they admit and keep.
The higher numbers in Canada are at least partially because the Government pays much more to provide Free Hospitalization, Free non-private Psychiatrists & other Medical Staff, and pays for Prescription Drugs, at least in some Provinces. In the U.S. you normally need good insurance to cover hospital, medication, and related fees. People in long-term Psychiatric treatment often are unable to work - often because of a side-effect from Psychiatric medications., so, in the U.S. people's Insurance runs out and the Psychiatric Hospitals do not want to keep them anymore because they are unable to pay the fees. Also, in the U.S. there is more publicity for and availability of Alternative, more Holistic Treatments. Also, Insurance companies in the U.S. may find Alternative Treatments end up costing them much less than Hospitalizations and medications in the long term. In Canada, there is less reliance on Private Insurance, there are fewer different, more Holistic Alternative Options readily available, and there is much less publicity and awareness that Holistic Alternatives Options do exist.
I doubt I will see it come to fruition, but I will rest when I see the day psychiatry and psychology is held responsible for crimes against humanity.
I just went to my new Dr, she is lovely, she suggested we could talk abt my anxiety. Okay I said . Tapering off Benzo's after 10+ years plus on a small dose of anti depressant. I got the usual ...more anti depressants may help me, to not feel depressed, to have less anxiety, to help me get off the Benzo's easier. I am 58, I have been thru two decades of Dr's prescribing one AD after another. They just make u feel like a zombie. Once again it is being suggested to me to take more or a different psych med to make me feel better. I think I have tried ten after first going to my Dr with symptoms 20 years ago. Been on Zoloft 20 + years. Do not even know if it does anything. Its hard to say NO THANKS to Dr's when u r so low. U want what they suggest to be helpful to you. But i know that meds will not be the magic bullet I wish they could be.
I'm sorry. I'm in a very similar situation...I understand how frustrating it is. I finally gave up on seeing doctors. It was too upsetting.
Exercise your right to remain silent by stating, clearly, that you have that right.
If your channel is looking for a psychiatric survivor to interview, i view psychiatry as pseudoscience, and have roughly 2 years off the psychoactive drugs.
These drugs were prescribed long term. I also experienced forensic psychiatry under a non criminal civil commitment. I would really like to get my experience out there, and wouldn't mind being contacted.

Plus with how long i was on the drugs, along with my state hospital experience, there is quite a bit to even scratch the surface.

You need to pay for it. Even that, they want people to be informed and yet it's not free or readily accessible. I dont understand it.

@@madelynhernandez7453 There is a process to releasing a film. First, you go to the film festival circuit to garner interest. Overall, you don't just make a film and then release it to the public for free. Especially if you are trying to get a platform with a large audience to buy it and offer it (like Netflix or Hulu or something, for example). Think about it - why would they buy something freely open to the public, they'd have nothing to offer then. (We don't want to just screen the film for the echo chamber who already knows about harm - the point is to try to reach the mainstream). Anyhow, currently, we have signed contracts w/ distributors now, etc. that we have to honor, so the film remains behind a paywall until those are up. We also had to earn enough to keep our marketing and outreach going - it all costs money. Then, you can eventually get to the final release, where it's free on TH-cam, etc. - that will most likely be sometime in the next handful of months. We are almost there.
