      i mean...i feel it's gonna be the same as fallout 76 in a sense...it starts off being trash and all that at launch, but with enough time and with "DLC" expansion updates being rolled out, it'll become...decent enough...i mean, it won't be a masterpiece, but it'll at least be decent enough to play while only losing a fraction of your sanity and dignity compared to during launch.

You can't join and work up through Arasaka, or Millitech, or even MaxTac. I feel like that could have been super cool options for the ending, if you have the loyalty of, say, MaxTac and you'd be able to genuinely seige Arasaka Tower with their support. I really hope that this ends up like another No Man's Sky situation, where it started out horrible but later on would become essentially what they promised if not better in some ways than what they promised. @Thefootqueen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      @@randomloverofcheese I have to disagree with you there. The side missions are pretty solid and though the gameplay is definitely not the best(excluding bugs), it’s not absolutely horrendous. I personally don’t like many leveling mechanics in games but that’s more so personal opinion and pet peeve. At least it’s not like fallout 76 where they didn’t even include the most basic human NPC’s, and don’t have nearly as many bugs as 76 despite the memes (feel like the only reason 76 got a pass on some things is because of Bethesda’s reputation of bugs and “it’s a feature not a bug” meme). So it’s not THAT bad, and can definitely be reworked so long as the CD Projekt Red team actually works on the game and put devotion into it. Even if it takes years like No Man’s Sky did, it’s definitely doable, especially when compared to the number of people Hello Games has to CD Project Red.

      1) Fair but they didn’t have to apologize at all, and frankly it is better than nothing. I’d rather have a half-baked apology than nothing at all. If it was any other company we would receive no apology.
      2) Saying something is finished when it isn’t is honestly just business. Scummy business yeah but you can’t go out and say “oh no, it’s a buggy mess.” Especially when other companies you are working with and the platforms you work on are expecting it to be completed. Plus they didn’t have many options as it was, especially with the massive hype train and how angry people were getting because they kept delaying the game. Doesn’t excuse it at all just saying not many other options, the most they could do was attempt to lower people’s expectations, problem is price tags set expectations.

      @@RalfBelmont I'm not saying they are competent or incompetent. From my point of view as a software developer, a lot of factors like management, funding and deadlines come into play.
      I could for example want to put in a really great feature into a project, however all that needs to be approved by project managers and needs to be funded. Else I'd just be doing it on my own time not getting paid for the work. We basically focus on the main features first then have minor re-adjustments later.
      Things like game breaking bugs could even be swept under the rug because it just "works" most of the time, and therefore a project manager could just say "it's good enough we should just push for our release deadline."
      I also don't want to rag on managers that much, there's a good number that are great at it. But I'm willing to bet this game was poorly managed.

      just like in skyrim and fallout 4 when you have cloaking armor, the npc's are like "where did they go?" while looking you straight in the eye. weirdly oblivion got this right, if you have enchanted armor that cloaks you, the npc's run around confused not aware of where you are. there should be a global flag set to tell the AI to ignore the player, and disable head tracking whenever your invisible, they would probably have to set this for every type of npc in the game, so idk maybe they just haven't gotten around to it since they had dozens of other things to fix?

    Having the minimap rendering connected to the actual geometry rendered on-screen is the most glaring indicator of how jank their implementation is. I mean, FFS, we had games with functional minimaps 30 cocking years ago. I myself implemented a labyrinth-like game with a minimap on my 2nd year in college, after 8-10 OpenGL lectures.

    • @TheIndieGamesNL
      @TheIndieGamesNL 3 ปีที่แล้ว +68

      rendered to actual geometry only really makes sense for procedurally generated games. they should just remake the entire minimap in .vector /illustrator than just update the position over the vector depending on the players x,z position. would take them less than a week id reckon,you could probably do it in a day of 2-3

    • @sginrummy88

      @GrumpyGrebo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@sginrummy88 Once you've got a level designed, you can just run a virtual camera over it from above. That's a basic full world map, then you just sync the minimap position to the player position. Skim the camera through at any "level" and repeat. To get the stylized map they've got here, either manual tracing over the top of that full world image (it doesn't take as long as you think) or you can use laplace algorithms to detect edges. The reason realtime geometry is used here, is that the minimap will never need to be updated again; anything new added will be automatically added. It seems like the developers have always struggled with numbers/skillsets of their developers, so it is more of an efficiency choice rather than any technical reason.

They could have waited until the game was actually ready before announcing a launch date. Shocker that when you announce a launch date, gamers correctly assume that the game will be ready on that day. Most people understand that delays happen, again CDPR provided the dates, not gamers. If they needed a year, they should have said they needed a year, it happens in gaming. Instead, they lied and said they needed just a little more time to "polish" the game. They delayed the game three times, once after they had promised it would be ready. It was at that point that people "were right up their noses bugging them" because something didn't smell right with the multiple delays and people were rightfully worried and suspicious. There is no blame other than we as gamers have to stop giving developers the benefit of doubt and pre-ordering games at all.

And No Man's Sky and Fallout 76 weren't as hyped as Cyberpunk 2077, so this game will take even longer to redeem itself. It really pains me to say this, but this game will still be considered bad for at least the next three years.
      Though there's hope, since they have been patching things up real quick. Let's hope it becomes the next No Man's Sky instead of the next Marvel's Avengers.

      @@abrahimali7167 20 hours of gameplay, pretty good so far. I have found couple minor bugs like the ones I found earlier (NPCs mouth not moving when talking), but so far so good with the main missions, haven't found a wall-traspassing bug nor a NPC stuck or getting through walls. Jackie do traspass a car once by walking, but there were no explosion nor damage from there (lol), he doesn't stuck on elevators (that was a common bug I noticed from video memes, that's fixed for sure, at least on PC) I do have to say motorcycle had some issues when trying to park in a certain place like not accelerating as supposed to, but this happened once in a specific parking place, nevertheless, the riding is good enough in general when traversing the map, some cars feels better than others, but this is probably on purpose for you to get better cars than default. I feel like sometimes there is no many cars on the road, until they apparently start to appear from afar, that was a bit odd, but you get used to it. Cars try to avoid you when you're on road, that's cool. And NPCs now when they first appear on your sight, the textures loads and you don't get to see the awful rendering textures for eternity as I saw in previous TH-cam videos.
      I tried some side missions, doing well enough, start to end of a couple of side ones.
      Conclusion for this far: bugs are like 20% of the whole experience that includes mouths not moving and similars, at least for me, not a game breaking experience because the rest of the cinematics, face animations and the writing are very well done and goes smoothly (you feel real people behind NPC sometimes like in a 3D movie with real actors), tho I did found a T-pose once in a cinematic but the game goes on from there recovering NPC original pose with not a single crash nor screen or cinematic getting frozen. I like the game so far, I thought it was going to be unplayable, but I found out it's pretty good. I met Keanu already, the game is starting to be more interesting now. 1.3 I think fixed a lot of crashes and it's getting better. If you are impatience, you can start from here on PC as I think is good enough now to start playing, but if you can wait a bit more, I believe a next patch will have even more things fixed. I'll write more soon... Thanks for reading.

      Game is still trash. The characters are not flushed out enough. The police are still awful, the perk system is still s*** it's not RPG at all, the AI is atrocious, tons of areas still missing.... It's still in alpha it seems.

      I enjoyed bits and pieces of the story, but overall thought it was trash, especially the main story. Some of the side questlines were interesting, like the Aldecaldos, but that was about it for me, and the story is one thing we know they arent going to be able to improve because its written in stone.

    im actually one of the people who put like 100hrs into the game early on, maybe because i had nothing better to do. And theres nothing at the moment to bring me back into it, maybe there never will be. 100hrs is already a decent amount/

    I want a main story that makes any of the other stuff people talk about all the time make sense. By the time the game cuts you loose _you have a timebomb in your head_ and only months to live at best. This is not where I imagine a character wanting to go get a haircut or shop for new furniture for their apartment. It's not a bad story as such but it's a terrible base for an immersive, open world rpg. Amazingly bad. Who cares about factions or buying a new car _when you have a bomb in your head?_ Who's going to say to themselves "Well, I'll probably be dead in a few weeks. Maybe it's time to check out the real-estate market,"? The game won't let you just ignore it either, because they gotta squeeze more of Keanu's bad, bad voice acting as often as they can to remind you. The Johnny Silverhand story, that should have been dlc. That is what people should be hoping to get down the road. The actual game story should have involved character building and getting to know the city. Y'know, the montage at the beginning. That 20 seconds should be the whole game. Without that, who cares?
