Nicely done. I enjoy seeing pictures and video is a serious bonus! So many memories! The parks we went to were mostly near water. We got to feed the ducks, play in the water and watch squirrels run up and down trees. We would have a picnic lunch, spread out the blanket, sit on the ground, talk, eat and have fun. The playground was way more active. The Merry-Go-Launcher, as I call it now was the best! Spin fast and get launched several feet off into dirt. Maybe sand or bark chips if you were lucky. The awkwardly tall metal slide was also a staple in every playground I visited. Working your way to second degree burns as you started your uncontrolled descent from what felt like a true mountain top experience! The teeter totter was a lesson in weight distribution and blind trust. Great fun for all! We also had a dome shaped climbing thing that looked like a spider web and one that was more box like. A big metal frame with connecting squares and it went high up. The tall cross bars that were over cement! We would compare injuries at the end of the day. We spent hours at the playground. There were bars you could hang upside down from. I was able to wrap one leg or both around the bar and swing over and over and over again. No safety equipment, no soft landing, everything was metal and chain. I didn't want to admit to getting hurt because I would have had to come inside. There was a giant drainage pipe or at least it looked like one, we could run through. We could also climb on top. Swings were always fun. Swing really high and jump off and hope you didn't break an ankle. Those were secured in cement too, no dirt around it, just cement. In those days I felt invincible! It was such a carefree magical feeling.

Wow, so many great memories! And you’re so right, playgrounds were way more crowded and active back then. Now, they’re usually deserted.
