Thanks for saving a fleet car. A few pursuit car details I've seen on Mopars are: One key fits everything (not the normal two Chrysler key combo), certified speedometer, unit number always painted in lowei driver door jamb for quick verification of correct fleet car, overhead dome reading light near rear view mirror, wire harness inside car running from front seat to trunk is in armored cable to prevent damage by person being transported, front stabilizer bar, reinforced roof, extra body welds, heavy duty alt. AC shut off switch for pursuit, fist idle pull knob on dash for traffic stops. These all seem to be the norm on my hwy pursuit c-bodies. Research yours and enjoy!
Thanks, Mr. Badsocket! Your auction videos are the best! I watch every one of them. I know its a hell of a lot of work to produce these things but please, keep at it! Nobody else is covering farm auctions like you do! I do have a request, though [you knew there was a catch, didn't you?]. Tell us where you sell the cars you buy at auction! I have sent you e-mails asking about cars you said you were buying to re-sell, but you never responded. If you have a web site, tell us what it's called. If you have a farm field full of old cars with For Sale signs on them, tell us where to find it! You'll reach 43K potential new customers by doing so. What have you got to loose?
As a young Deputy I was delighted when our new fleet came in with Plymouths with 383's having 440 intakes. When you called for back-up you could hear this intakes lighting up for miles around.
I first drove a 1973 Plymouth police . They used heavy duty shocks , and upgraded the body for pursuit packages. Many had upgraded motors/ trans as well . All I remember is that car would move ..
Serious collection of C bodies. Many of these gave their engines up as replacements for Hot Rods. I used to buy 383's and 440's for mega cheap back in the late 70's as missing shifts in my Road Runner would zing the third rod bearing toot sweet! This is a cool collection for this Mopar fan. Thanks for taking us along.
Bowen's buggy. Lincoln Nebraska. Had a 88 astro done by them. My neighbor got bunch's of free metal from them cut out stuff for windows they put in. All that went into his 55-57 birds he had restored. Dig your channel. Thanks Jim.
Had a 63 New Yorker, Moms car. Seprate a/c system in the trunk. Just dripping with options. 413 Hemi. I got to drive it. Thank God gas was .23 a gallon.
I bought the 4 speed convertible. Funny you can see me making the phone bid in the background to my buddy Bob. A few midwest states ran two door posts then, I'd start there. Kansas and Nebraska both did I believe.
I had a 68 Coronet 500 convertible project car in the late 80's. When I really got into the body work, doing anything with with the rust repairs was way beyond my skill level, and life circumstances changed, so I sold it. I still miss that car 35 years later.
My almost 50 years of experience at auctions has shown me that people almost ALWAYS over pay at an auction. Emotions take over and bidders lose their minds, kinda like at this auction.
Really cool Mopar colleciton, hope they all went to good homes. Congratulations on your C-body purchase, that 68 Plymouth will be a really nice driver when back on the road. I've got a few Mopars myself.
So at 12:37, the Red Chrysler, something you didn't pick up on....and why that can needs to be saved......It's a special order car, that color wasn't a Chrysler Color, it was offered on the Imperial, but not on a Newport or New Yorker. Note the bumper filler panels are Silver/Argent colored, not body colored. That also indicates a non factory color, you'd see that on police car paint combinations. Had you checked out the fender tag in the engine bay, I'm 100% certain it would have said, "special order"
The '68 black New Yorker looks like it has an Imperial steering column. The Mopar police cars usually had white steering wheels. My father had a 1968 Ford Country Sedan police spec.(no a/c and had a 390 V8). He was a Fire Dept. Battalion Chief. It was the year that our local FD tried white vehicles, for better visibility. The 2nd new car my parents bought was a 1968 Plymouth Fury III 4dr. hardtop. It had the Commando 383 V8 and a split bench front seat.
Great deal on that 68 500 convertible ! Being a 72 400, that has a good chance of being a 230-1 cold weather block with thick webbing. I have one of those blocks.
Congratulations on your fine acquisition! I love C-Body Mopars. My favorite cars in this auction were the '67 Newport coupe, the 2 '68 Furies Police cars, and the blue '68 NY (the one with the original paint that was missing its wheels)
The 2 door sedan with Law Enforcement history was probably the rarest car there. Low production. Louisiana State Police used the Plymouth Fury 4-door sedans from 68 through the 70s. I stopped and accepted written, personalized invitations from them quite often.
Mr. B. Here ! Very very nice vehicle ! 👍👍 Had 2005 Magnum RT fully loaded ! Miss my Hemi engine, loved that engine. Mr. G., I have been toll sometimes a person collects what makes them happy ! 🤔🤔🤔 I hope someone got a few vehicle to put back on the road ! 🤔🤔🤔 Nice buy ! 👍👍👍
I subbed just to see what you do with this one. My favorite Plymouth is the 1966 Plymouth Fury III. My uncle had one; just the most beautiful car ever to come out of Detroit in those years. Exquisite.
The 1966 Fury III four door hardtop will always have a special place in my heart. Our family car when I was five years old was a white one with red interior. My dad would pop the rear seat cushions out to haul antiques in the back
Thank again for another incredible auction! I think most stuff went high, but hard to tell on camera. Looking forward to seeing more on your 2 dr police car.
I still have a black two-door 67 Fury 3 bench seat Factory 4 speed 383 4 Barrel car that my aunt bought brand new and still has the card with her name on it.I think it has the sport roof with red interior she gave it to me when I was in high school and I can remember loading up on my friends and driving 2 hours to concerts Kiss, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep and Bob Seger. it would only run on Ethel and I put some regular gas in it and it was knocking and banging and ended up breaking the camshaft. I have only seen two or three four speeds like the one in the auction but I have never seen another bench seat 4 Speed. I almost sold the four-speed transmission for $500 a few years ago to somebody wanting to put it in a road runner, glad I didn't. I hope to restore someday but I just like looking at it. I have did a lot of research but can't find out how many were built that way, best I could come up with was .02% were standard shift???
48:15 - That '67 Plymouth Fury station wagon was a steal for $500. Station wagons are hot. And a Fury? That has the potential to be a serious hot rod. :)
2-door sedan police cars were fairly common years ago. The 2-door sedan was the cheapest car offered, and Gov't vehicles were purchased by low bid. A friend had a 1964 Plymouth 2-door sedan former police car equipped with a 383 automatic back in the good old days.
While you were speaking of the 1974 - '78 New Yorker, .....It would have been Imperial in those first 2 years, and from '76 to '78 the New Yorker looked just like the Imperial which it replaced.
Hi. i'm not sure you know that the Aston Martin DB range was David Brown's initials after he bought the company, not quite so glamorous as people may think.
I had a 68 Coronet 500 convertible in medium dark turquoise metallic. Wish I had it now. If you watch the movie "The Seven Ups" , there's a 67 -8 Fury two door cop car in the chase scene. One of the best chase scenes in the movies ever!
It was big plymoth fury 3s that were cop cars when I was a teen.....we could spot them at night because the front lights were unique looking........some had the 440 in them.....I only ever rode in the back.ha ha...I loved those cars..........probably 1970 to 72.
I worked for a dealership back in the 60's . A teacher bought a gold colored buick he had two cars pull out in front of him in a week. He brought the car back and had them paint it school bus yellow. No problem seeing that car after that.
It's been a long time coming for sure! Not many collections like this... however, the next week after, Vanderbrink sold the Soneff & sons collection in Denver. I went to one closer to home though
In my 34 Tudor Barn Fi d video we had to move a 68 AMC Rebel SST OR SSX (forget which) to get the 34. Frame was so rotted the car looked like a banana when we got it out. I often think of pulling parts off it...
First Hot Rod ever Road in was a Belvedere my sister's boyfriend I was 10 years old 66 Belvedere 4 speed bucket seats we all get it and go to the drag strip giving his slicks out of the trunk open up his headers outrun cars as being pulled in there on a trailer
If you look closely at the gearshift from the 68 Fury convertible, it looks like it came out of a Mitsubishi Eclipse or similar Mitsubishi product. That's different. I dont even think Chrysler and Mitsubishi were teaming up then. That didn't occur until the early 70s, I believe. Ever hear of a 1975 Dodge John Deere special pick up ? I had a very special 1975 Dodge d100 half ton long bed pickup truck. This was one of a small batch special of order pickups made for John Deere corporation available only to John Deere dealership owners. It had a 375 horsepower H code police interceptor 440. Every Dodge dealer I ever took my truck into claimed it wasn't built by the factory but I had the broadcast sheet and would prove it to them that it was a genuine John Deere special.
Yes, Sir David Brown. His family were machinists going back a long way and he made his fortune by developing a machine to cut gears in unusual configurations in the 1940's. When he bought Aston,it was on it's last legs and he could see the potential in saving it. Those DB tractors are bomb proof and still fetch good money although some are 50 years old.
I've been searching for a 68 Coronet 500. Frustrating that there aren't actions like this in my area that I hear about. I don't have the means to pay a flipper markup and restore the car too.

Got a nice car for a good price
I’m at work right now I’ll watch that when I get home looks like another good one

I absolutely love all your videos man I watch the auctions and everything
Shows there are still great Mopar deals around. Thanks for a great video
Thanks Tim, really appreciate you giving some back story on the owner of the cars. The police car you got is pretty cool!
Alot of the 2,500 or less Mopar's usually go to the derby no doubt, happens here in east tn from time to time even in this day...

Thanks MR Good Pliers glad that little boy didnt get in front of that derby car
The four speed car and the blue 66 looks real good with those magnum 500 wheels.
Raised white letter tires and sporty rims on a 4-door barge. Definitely the Midwest look.
The blue new Yorker was his first car & the black 1 was his funeral car. He used it for funerals he attended,,he had some cool rides
I was amazed at the wide difference in selling prices for the two, considering they were identical models/bodies.
The black 68 New Yorker was my favorite here.
The black New Yorker did appear to be in better condition than the blue one.
