Except they touched on Order 66 indirectly in the Clone Wars, when that clone had a malfunctioning chip that caused him to kill a jedi, that's why Fives removed his chip, he knew something was wrong with it, and he was right. So essentially, when Palps said "Execute Order 66" he killed the clones, and they were replaced by some dormant personality.
I see it very improbable in Canon, since is extremely hard to break free from the mental control produced by the inhibitor chips. In Legends, where they executed the order because of brainwashing and loyalty to the Republic, is still possible, since Cody was a Commander. This means he was capable of being more independent than others, a trait shared with ARC Troopers and Commandos.
Analyzing episode 3, I have an hypothesis; that Cody didn't want to kill Obi Wan. When Kenobi listens to Cody asking the two clones "did you find Kenobi?" After they shot him off the cliff, And they answer "sir, no one could've survived that fall", Cody didn't even tried to make sure of that, despite him knowing how awesome was General Kenobi. Perhaps Cody decided to spare his life in the end, despite actually executing order 66. It's just a little crazy hypothesis 😁
Well in Revenge of the Sith It wasn't biochips It was them getting orders and knowing that they were going to kill their Jedi Commander Necessarily if we're talking about the movie in general Then he would have killed him anyway
Even if he wasn't, I don't really hate him because, from his point of view, he was just serving the Republic which had an Order 66 that declares the Jedi as traitors and enemies, unfortunately Sidious was the one who pulled the trigger.
I really do see him, the control chip in his head, just nonchalantly ordering the attack on Kenobi, even while, in his head, he's "No! *NO! NOOOOOOOOOO!"* It mek'a me sad face!

Also, during the Empire, the 501st became the Vader's Fist, the personal troopers led by Vader himself, which is cooler than just being anexed to the Empire Army... But Rex wasn't Capitan anymore when the empire rised...

Ay what ever happened to dogma after umbara? Also when Cody said "when have I ever let you down" that's some major foreshadowing when obi wan fell from that cliff side from the at-te shot 😂😂😂💀💀💀

Another fun ep 3 clip is right before O66, when Cody is holding onto Kenobi's saber and returns it. We see him do it one of the Ryloth episodes as well. Obi-Wan trusts Cody with his lightsaber, that's powerful stuff
Obi-Wan crawled out of the water, pulling himself onto the land. Hitting the water so hard had knocked the wind out of him, and just like that, he fell unconscious. He woke up moments later, and saw a man in distance, twitching and yelling to himself, clambering around while sniffing the air. He was very clearly in the middle of some kind of psychotic episode, having some kind of epiphany. All Obi-Wan could make out of the man's ramblings were "Oh, God! Oh, God!" and "Why did it have to be me?!" The man then spotted Obi-Wan, and let out a loud scream mixed with anguish and rage. He ran towards Obi-Wan, and revealing himself to be Obi-Wan's commander, Cody. Cody stood before him covered in dry blood splatter, helmet-less and completely out of his mind, hissing as he breathed. His eyes were wide and frenzied, and he held his helmet in his hand, which was covered in dry blood, hardened chunks of brain and pieces of skull. Obi-Wan didn't know it, but Cody had beaten The Clone who shot Obi-Wan to death with his own helmet earlier, likely at the beginning of his Order 66-induced breakdown. Cody dropped the helmet onto the ground and got on all fours, creeping towards the horrified Jedi like a spider. He looked at Kenobi with bloodlust in his eyes, snarling and smiling with sick anticipation. Another kill for the crazed Clone! But then, Cody stopped and shook his head. "Don't want to be good soldier!", Cody shouted. "It's bad to kill Jedi! They're telling me to be bad!" Before Obi-Wan could ask him what he was talking about, Cody grabbed Obi-Wan by the shoulders. "The time has come! We've grown sick!", Cody shouted. "We'll kill you all! You must run and hide! Away from us! Away from me! Please!" Cody then let Kenobi go and held himself as he shivered. "Please leave, sir. I don't want to hurt anyone. Leave me..." Cody then noticed something behind Obi-Wan; the creature that The Jedi was riding earlier, having washed up the shore, dead. Cody began twitching again and ran towards the creature, biting into it and devouring it as his sobs mixed with maniacal laughter. Obi-Wan did as he said and ran away, finding General Grievous' ship and flying out of there, being careful not to disturb The Clones that had somehow mauled the infamous General and were stripping his dead, mutilated body and eating whatever meat they could find on him. Many years later, while in hiding, Kenobi heard through word of mouth that an old Clone working on Kamino had hung himself in his quarters. Kenobi never found out who it was, but, deep down, he hoped that it was Cody. If there was ever a tortured Clone that deserved peace, it was him.
I would like to read a story of a Jedi who fell in love with her clone commander, only to escape with her life as the clone's love for her causes him an unbearable headache as he's trying to resist Order 66 from compelling him to kill her.
"What I remember about the rise of the Empire is... is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Clone Wars, the 501st Legion was discreetly transferred back to Coruscant. It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do. Did we have any doubts? Any private, traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Coruscant, not when Order 66 came down, and not when we marched into the Jedi Temple. Not a word."
I really hope these two meet again in the Kenobi series. Maybe Cody defects from the empire because of his station on Kamino and he hunts down Ewan to try and figure out what happened that day. It would be great character building
Come to think of it, this is not out of the question since we know Cody survives order 66 but dont exactly know anything other than vague details from then onward and dont exactly know the circumstances of his death.
I wish we got to see more Cody in the Clone Wars show, I mean I love Rex and the 501st as much as everyone else, but Cody and his orange buddies will always be my favorites. Looking forward to see my scarred orange badass in the new episodes.
I had similar feelings when watching Clone Wars. Humanizing the clones and fleshing out the relationships between them and the jedi they would eventually turn around and betray felt almost morbid. Then they humanized and fleshed out the characters of the jedi younglings who we have to assume Anakin would brutally murder later in the timeline, and I realized morbid was what this deceptively good show was all about. XD
It was an honor fighting with obi wan but I’m still a human and I still have human thoughts and have bad dreams so don’t make fun of me guys it’s been really hard for me to adapt when obi wan is gone.
I feel like the clones reflected their generals because the leadership style rubbed off on them, (also the clones age faster so it’s like they were growing up with them) Rex was more improvisational and reckless because he was around Anakin more, Cody was someone who really played by the book like Obi-Wan
Yeah, I follow cannon timeline, so it always breaks my heart when I see Cody go from loyal friend, to obediant droid in one sentance, "Execute Order 66", very depressing to me, you know?
They had a very missed opportunity to make a joint story about Cody and Rex after the events of the Empire's formation. It would've been cool to see a comparison similar to that of Obi Wan and Darth Maul like in the Rebels Series. Cody's frustration with Rex leaving him with the Empire and the hatred of being a training officer at Kamino would drive Cody to break out of line for the first time and search for his old friend by himself. During Cody's search for Rex, Cody could experience moments of having to improvise since he was no longer controlled by a higher authority. When the time comes that Cody and Rex cross paths there is an exchange of words between the two, about the clone wars and their lives after the Republic. Maybe the question of whether Cody will join the Rebellion is brought up, but when Rex mentions having known about the inhibitor chips Cody is outraged by Rex not telling him before the Order and like a Wild West movie a gun sling fight ensues and Cody loses. Alternatively, Cody could still be loyal to the Empire and, of hearing about Rex, demands his squad-in-training to leave Kamino with him in a search and destroy mission for Captain Rex and the others. The small skirmish takes place in a desert village on the planet where Ezra and the others find the Captains but ultimately Cody's trainees die quickly and it falls on Cody to finish the fight by himself. There is a small mention from Rex that it is uncharacteristic of Cody to have disobeyed, orders leaving his post at Kamino. Cody would retort with Rex being disloyal to the Republic and him as a friend, having discovered that Rex knew of the inhibitor chips and not telling him about it earlier in Cody's search for Rex. The fight is boiled down to be a gunslinger fight in which Rex wins but holds Cody in his arms as he did Fives. An exchange of apologies from both troopers ensues and Cody thanks Rex for making him a little more free.
Just think how hard it must have been to beat Anakin on Mustafar. Knowing he's more powerful than you, not wanting to kill him, having most of your friends be killed, having two of your best friends try to kill you in the space of a few days, knowing the rest of your life would probably be spent as a criminal wanted dead by the thing you had dedicated your life to protecting. It's all written by someone of course but imagine how hard it would have been not to just be lost to despair.
Plot twist Cody escapes from the sith and leaves for tatooine so he could crack a cold one with his boi. Then they live together as roommates and are always trying to prove there not gay
Is it weird that at the beginning of the video as soon as he said ''Cody'' I threw my phone on the couch and screwed at it ''CoMmAnDeR CoDy!!! UsE ThE RaNk!!!''
I feel like Cody purposely made the AT-TE fire off course through the arm gesture he made, as to not kill him, but merely have all the other clones think he had died from both the explosion and fall.
If you go by the whole non-microchip based lore, you can tell that Cody and the gunner purposefully missed, which wouldn't have happened if the microchip thing were true. Because as mentioned in the Knightfall mission of BF2, there were many clones with private traitorous thoughts, so knowing Cody he'd have them fire just ahead of Kenobi to give a convincing preformance of following the order.
*hands on wan his light saber* Obi wan: good man Cody Palpatine: execute order 66 Yes... My lord. *in my head, Rick rolling obi wan* Never gonna give you up but I'm gonna blast em down
I honestly feel the same when I see Anakin and Ahsoka. My favorite Star Wars scene is the Vader/Ahsoka duel in Rebels. I also feel that way about Hiccup/Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. Such good relationships that end with tears
On the topic of the 212th Battalion, I watched the Citadel arc and noticed Cody took out a crab droid by jumping on top of it and shooting it in the head repeatedly, like one 212th trooper did in Revenge of the Sith on Utapau
What if general grievous and obiwan we're still fighting when order 66 happened?... Or what if obi wan was standing right next to Cody as the emperor called him
Cody was the only clone trooper I knew because I watched the prequel and it actually gave him spotlight Then I watched The clone wars show and Rex became my favorite Clone

I would like to read a story of a Jedi who fell in love with her clone commander, only to escape with her life as the clone's love for her causes him an unbearable headache as he's trying to resist Order 66 from compelling him to kill her.
I’m here with my boi Cody
Then he tried to kill Obi.
There Could be a rap song about them.
Cody was and STILL is my favorite clone
"What I remember about the rise of the Empire is... is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Clone Wars, the 501st Legion was discreetly transferred back to Coruscant. It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do. Did we have any doubts? Any private, traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Coruscant, not when Order 66 came down, and not when we marched into the Jedi Temple. Not a word."
The ship has sailed! #CodyWan
problem sir?
Anakin has just redeployed himself... AGAIN
Looking forward to see my scarred orange badass in the new episodes.
it's because they're boyfriends, duh
Come on when have I ever let you down?
Cody is my favorite clone and character of all time in star wars
I had similar feelings when watching Clone Wars. Humanizing the clones and fleshing out the relationships between them and the jedi they would eventually turn around and betray felt almost morbid. Then they humanized and fleshed out the characters of the jedi younglings who we have to assume Anakin would brutally murder later in the timeline, and I realized morbid was what this deceptively good show was all about. XD
Hear, hear. Cody is a favorite of mine. You are right, his end is most sad.
He, uh, "loved" him during the Clone Wars?
I, for one, am happy this occurred offscreen.
It was an honor fighting with obi wan but I’m still a human and I still have human thoughts and have bad dreams so don’t make fun of me guys it’s been really hard for me to adapt when obi wan is gone.
I hear you man I'm very sorry that you're having a depression time on your home world Kameano 😔
I forgive you
*Cringe intensifies*
I'm here with you, brother... It torments me to this day, all of us cc. 2224's feel the exact same for attempting to execute order 66
when he was not with Satine, he was with Cody
Would be cool to see Kenobi meet Cody during the Kenobi series
I feel like the clones reflected their generals because the leadership style rubbed off on them, (also the clones age faster so it’s like they were growing up with them) Rex was more improvisational and reckless because he was around Anakin more, Cody was someone who really played by the book like Obi-Wan
Yeah, I follow cannon timeline, so it always breaks my heart when I see Cody go from loyal friend, to obediant droid in one sentance, "Execute Order 66", very depressing to me, you know?
I have an Obi Wan Mii in my 3Ds
I have Obi-Wan mii too, but in Wii U
As always, wonderful video!
Captain Vaughn reminds me of Commander Cody and Captain Lieutenant Lock
Aaaaaannnnnnd I'm tearing up at 12:15 am on a Thursday. That's an achievement.
Obiwan: I love you Cody!
Cody: I love you to sir!
Sidious: Execute order 66!
Cody: yes my Lord! Blast him!
Obiwan: what the f@$%!?
"we've been here a month already"
"yes general, right on schedule" Rockets away leaving Obi-Wan in rain grumpy
Dammit, if someone could just have alerted him about the inhibitor chips and Order 66.....
Very cool video. Made me love the SW universe even more
Loved is a strong word in this case
This was the best one yet. Cody is my favorite CT.
Commander Cody is my favorite clone
Nice video
Yes its very sad. Extremely sad :( And its so sad to watch Anakin talking about righteousness ,freedom and justice. And other clones
*hands on wan his light saber*
Obi wan: good man Cody
Palpatine: execute order 66
Yes... My lord.
*in my head, Rick rolling obi wan*
Never gonna give you up but I'm gonna blast em down
"Come on, when have I ever let you down?"
I honestly feel the same when I see Anakin and Ahsoka. My favorite Star Wars scene is the Vader/Ahsoka duel in Rebels. I also feel that way about Hiccup/Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. Such good relationships that end with tears
It's nice to see Obi-Wan getting along with a clone commander after having a tought fight with Jango Fett.
“Brothers”? sure...
You don’t think obi wan ever played hide the lightsaber with his good “pal” Cody?
WOAH THERE
I am SOBBING
Rest in peace the bromance of Obi-wan Kenobie and Commander Cody 😔😭
A Clone and a Jedi, a perfect duo
3:40 There was one order that Cody didn't execute very well
I think about this video every day
“Executing orders to the best of their ability”
Didn’t really execute Order 66 to the best of his ability though did he?
can't believe you didn't play the clip where Kenobi, after ending a transmision from Cody, says "Good man that Cody"
RIP Cody’s visor at 0:35
The Senate : Commander Cody, execute Order 66
Cody : I will do what I must
Loyalty means nothing if you get stabbed in the back
On the topic of the 212th Battalion, I watched the Citadel arc and noticed Cody took out a crab droid by jumping on top of it and shooting it in the head repeatedly, like one 212th trooper did in Revenge of the Sith on Utapau
What if general grievous and obiwan we're still fighting when order 66 happened?... Or what if obi wan was standing right next to Cody as the emperor called him
Cody was the only clone trooper I knew because I watched the prequel and it actually gave him spotlight
Then I watched The clone wars show and Rex became my favorite Clone
It's such a shame Palpatine forced Cody to go all tsundere on Obi-Wan, they were a great ship.
*just like the simulations*
My favorite clone commander was Cody. : )
"Good man that Cody"
You were my favorite clone Cody I loved you
Answer: He responded with general Kenobi after Obi-Wan said hello there
