    India is doing a similar program, and is succeeding....having planted several million trees already.
    This is to preserve and renew the RIVERS that become dry when all the trees in the Cautery River were destroyed.
    Recreate the conditions that slow evaporation = rivers are renewed.
    Thank you to those working on these projects.

    Very important observation in what David says.." if you want to preserve a species, you must conserve the whole community of plant and animals" Our species preservation approach may be futile if we don't follow this advice

      Especially when you grew it from the pit of a peach by accident, tried to kill it each year, then figured "fuck it I guess the tree pays rent now" after it grew back from a stump for the third or 4th time. And then after years of just hanging out with this ugly tree that decided he lives he now, it finally gets old enough to flower, and suddenly my neighbor who moved in 1 year ago thinks he has a peach tree. Nawh.

    2:58 small baby tree take a very long time to grow to adult size and at the rate of tree cutting, it wont be enough to help the forest.

    Well considering Moa's were hunted to extinction (and in a bloody short period) and they were a lot larger than Ostriches, I see no reason an Elephant Bird could not be. And David Attenborough is very aware of what happened to the Moas.
