- Foo Fighters lead guitarist Chris Shiflett is hosting an estate sale on Reverb. He's letting go of some of his favorite gear, including the Firebird that co-starred in a music video, a Brian Setzer-style Gretsch, and the prototype of his Fender Signature model.

I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned this but........I'd be MORE than happy to take as many guitars off your hands as you need. You can ensure that they will be well loved. I play every day. I had to say it guys, you never know.

Walk into any guitar show/dealer with a routed and refinished guitar and they’ll give you less than half of its value. I added $50 because he played in a notable band. He’s not a household name, though his buddy is.

Its a Custom Shop Tele Deluxe. That guitar is somewhat of a prototype to his new Signature guitar that you can buy in the custom shop.

Dude has worked hard, dedicated himself to his craft, and yeh, maybe got a bit luck to land a gig in the biggest band in the world... but who cares. He deserves his success, and any musician in his position would have loads of instruments too. Being bitter and jealous gets noone anywhere.

The amount of Guitars successful Musicians have is like the amount of Food we're wasting everyday.
Fandom is starting to get out of hand. IMO If they are priced normal without a premium I guess it’s cool to have stars sell their extra promo gear.
I bought this non-reverse Firebird off Reverb for $1,400. Now you will purchase it for $4,000.
So none of these are good enough to get played, let alone make it into any of his 3 rigs ... 'Cool'. I'll pay a premium for them ... ...

They just aren't his number 1s. Doesn't mean they aren't good guitars. I do find the premium a little distasteful but whatever.

Yeah - a premium, to buy a guitar that a decent guitarist definitely doesn't rate (otherwise he'd keep it) ... sounds pretty stupid, when you break it down, doesn't it? :P
he's a professional musician, not a stay at home guitarist/keyboard warrior. all pro rock musicians have an abundance of guitars, amps, pedals and what not that they collect over the many years of doing what they do. that's part of the job. some keep them stored in warehouses and never let them go. he would rather sell them and see them be played like a guitar should.

Edmund Choy he used to play them a lot actually. The fact that he is selling them on Reverb is evidence that he does not want them, so he is looking for a way to get rid of them. Ever since 2011, Shifflett began using more the signature series that Fender made him (as he is endorsed by the brand) he has accumulated a lot of guitars as they are given to him for free for promotional purposes, hence why so many guitars.
