    Ridding durian smell from fingers : take durian husk, run tap water using inner shell (white part) rinse fingers from the runoff water, soap not required. Smell finger, it really works.

    Thank you for loving the durian :D The recommended types fetch a higher price, but it's worth it. 1) Mao Shan Wang
    2) D24 3) XO 4) Golden Phoenix 5) Red Prawn 6) Black Pearl.

    Oh Mari. You are hilarious and so 'Singaporean' already. That is so me with the chair for my handbag. I do that overseas too. I love how you are so respectful the way you put across the many 'DO NOT DO' things here. You never failed to crack me up with your entertaining ways and I love your sweet and clear enunciation tone of voice. I truly enjoy your videos and YES! I had to hit the subscribe button because you hit it on the nail, I was guilty of watching and did not hit the subscribe button. I very rarely subscribe. Have fun and looking forward to more videos.

      I don’t remember ever putting my bag on a public floor ( I’m 74) but when in somebody’s home where the floor is clean, I place it on the floor. I don’t put it on the sofa/ couch cos it takes up a space.

  • @buayarch
    @buayarch 3 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    Mari, to become more of a "Sinkapolean", you must know that the word DURIAN is combination of two Malay words. DURI means spike and AN is a shortened form for BUAH-BUAH-AN, which means FRUITS. So durian is a spikey fruit. Secondly, durian, being the "King" of fruits, cannot be plucked from the tree. It has to ripen and fall. If they fall in the night and the tree is near the jungle, the tigers will come out to eat them. I camped and fought the commie activists in Pahang jungle, Malaysia in the 50s and often found half eaten durians , with claw marks along the trails.
    Thirdly, durian is very heaty and will cause sore throat or cough. To counter that, pour some plain water into the empty husk, rub it against the inner lining of the husk and drink the water. No sore throat or heaty body. The other way is to eat mangosteen, the "Queen" of fruits. It will cool you down and also prevent sore throat. Fourthly, durian is excellent for gastric stomach but take in moderation. Fifthly, never eat durian with whiskey or hard liquor.
    Wish you a continual pleasant stay here in our tiny little paradise.

    This is a 2nd post of yours I’ve watched, quite enjoyable. I tried to get a 12 Month work permit to work in Singapore back in 2010, I worked for a global oil company back then that made me travel to Singapore a few times, of all the countries I had traveled to that was the only Country I loved enough to leave my comfort zone for but.I’m too old now and have a family so I’ve put that dream to rest :) plus I’d worry about subjecting my young Son to the highly distressing ( but no doubt great) education system there :). I can’t believe you eat Durian… not sure of the spelling, and actually enjoy it :). Keep enjoying Singapore, I will live vicariously through your whimsical videos. 🇿🇦
