I like to play Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail and I like to theorize about dumb things in game or in general
A whole hour for this video... yeah that was insane, but honestly going over the path of Nihility was a lot of fun, even though Nihility, given what it is, is lowkey sad as hell. Throughout the video I had to look up a ton of information and I am glad that I decided to make this video because after having finished the 2.1 story line, Into the Yawning Chasm, I realized how many incredible and awesome topics existed within the plot that related a lot towards nihilism, pessimism, how to over come tragedies, moving forward and many more topics in that light
So far Patch 2.1 for Star Rail has been my favorite in narrative and gameplay and I genuinely cannot wait for the next patch and to pull for Aventurine. He is such an awesome and fun character that I really want to pull, play with and enjoy every moment of him in the story. Especially with his whole banter and talks with Dr Ratio. I still am beyond baffled by the whole Sunday and Gallagher plot line though.

I was singing the praises of Nihility from way back in 1.0, seeing its future potential. So glad to be vindicated now that Nihility has had such a glow-up in 2.X
A fellow day 1 Nihility Appreciator, that's awesome. Since 1.0 I adored playing all the Nihility characters. And with all the additions to Nihility I have been thriving and eating well for my favorite characters, team comps and playstyles. Having Acheron has me bringing Geppy everywhere to apply burn to all with the Market LC and that makes me so happy
Every patch we been getting buffs, in the Relics and Characters department I love how now Nihility is getting the love it deserved always
@@ManCarSuaare you gonna pull Aventurine, because he does apply a debuff through his own kit so he could apply more of them compared to geppie, or would you stick with Gepard
@@ColieSilo I will be pulling for him, but I am on the fence about him. His debuffs help a lot though especially to boost Crit Damage. I enjoy Geppie because he has increased aggro chances meaning he applies burns more easily and at E3 he helps my teams a lot. That being said though, having consistent shields is great and his design is incredible. I can see him working best with Dr Ratio and Topaz on a team more than anything. But he should be great with Acheron too
I have used Sampo from day one to today. He sold me on this game to begin with.
@@reicherwallace6774 Oooooh that is awesome. I adored using Sampo a ton too, I loved watching him shred through shields like it was nothing and the Dots were super helpful. I would borrow a lot of Sampos tho until I got mine and E6 him the same day when Kafka released
For me, Luka felt like he represented the realism of Belabog's dilemma. As they grow up, Belobogians have to come to terms with the hopelessness of their situation, that they will never see Spring again. But collectively, the adults all continue to survive and uplift each other with the hope that they give that chance to the next generation. Luka will never reap the benefits of his efforts, but has become this idol of positivity in face of this endless winter. Luka's fight with Svarog accomplishes nothing, but he does it anyway as a form of communion with the spirit of the people of Belabog. He is the Preservation's idea of Nihility: someone who is aware they will not survive but still endures anyway for the sake of the community.
Honestly that is very true. Belobog as a nation has gone through so much to the point that the outlook of the planet is very Nihilistic. I feel like I enjoyed the story and how well the narrative for it was there, on top of the fact that it reminded me of Tantal in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. That Titan and town had some banger music that reminds me of Belobog and I would interchange so easily, but I love it. As a collective they can thrive but as individuals Belobog would likely fall. And the concept of separated they ruined things was shown so well with both the Overworld and Underworld + Wildfire vs Vagrants. The way you interpret Luka's Story feels so great and I adore it. Especially against the ever growing winter and monsters in the outskirts of Belobog, having a hero or symbol to unite the people helps out massively honestly.
I love that phrase you used there, that he is the Preservation's idea of Nihility, that is so fitting and so freaking awesome!

21:03 In Ratio’s quest it was actually revealed that there are multiple groups with the label of Annihilation Gang, and while Ever Flame Mansion is one, so is the Jepella Brotherhood (an “archenemy” of the Mansion). It’s not unreasonable to assume there are many more, all independently making their own fan clubs for Nanook, and that a completely unrelated Gang tried to end IX.
Also, much like Welt, SW, and Kafka, Black Swan also left her own life and her own body to follow the path of Remembrance. She found meaning in the careful caretaking of memories, as opposed to living and creating memories herself.
Also, in Acheron’s Your Colour trailer, in the part where it has the splash art of her with her name and title “Galaxy Ranger”, it also says in a dark colour Self-Annihilator. I found it pretty hard to see, but a lot of comments under the trailer talk about it
Ooooh thanks for the clarification. I was guiding myself mostly from the factions segment and some of the in game data. I didn't back track to double check on that. The way I inferred the information was that people see the Anihilation Gang to begin with as those who are too afraid to actually join the legion. That being said yeah these all have sub sections of themselves such as The Everflame Mansion and the Jepella Brotherhood. It just is rough to see that some of the faction are already seen as cowards, and now they ran away. After losing the Nihility, again. I should have been more clear on that too
I had not seen that part from Black Swan's lore well, I did get confused while reading it so I may have interpreted it as another person's memory potentially since I couldn't confirm it. Thank you for bringing that into my attention. It is awesome she helps and found meaning in her life through the rememberance
Also aaaah, I knew I forgot something. I didn't watch Acheron or Sparkles Trailers so I do gotta get back and watch them. That is such a cool detail that they added. I had to slow down the footage from that specific segment, but after watching it I see it!
Oh something that I didn’t know before is that once you finish the 2.1 quest, Acheron’s in game faction on the information screen also changes to Self-Annihilator

I feel the easiest way to link most of these characters to Nihility is that the majority of them all partake in Escspism in dome form to cope with past or on-going trauma.

Pela buries herself in work and books.
Silverwolf treats everything as games
Kafka just just does as told by thd 'script'
Black Swan collects memories and plays with tarot cards

They all are coping rather than resolving what's troubling them or moving on from it.
It's why they say "Nihility covers everyone " cause anyone can easily do the exact same thing as them. "Just forget about it", "why bother", "it doesn't matter anyways", "we can just do something else". Little thoughts like these creeping in. It starts to make Penacony seem more like a place of Nihility than Harmony.
Yeah it is a lot related escapism and coping as you mention. I loved the examples you provided there, especially with Welt who also holds powers that could easily tobble cities and literally contained our Stellaron with the tap to the forehead using the Star of Eden
Additionally I adore how you mentioned that yes Nihility covers everyone and how Penacony does feel like it is more Nihility based as on top of Harmony. You can see the unison and connection that sone people have and they genuinely have fun and that is what they are meant to, so they can be united as the harmony desires. But then you have those who want to escape their life, people with disabilities, problems at home, with low amount of funds or even just have depression that find Penacony to be the best escape they can have. The fact in this event we also learnt that Penacony's drinks can help alter your mood and emotions or even regulate further shows how people may escape and in a more intense kind of way they drink their sorrows away. Being able to literally drink until they feel happy or until they forget how they felt before
I feel OP may be stretching a lot to make the characters fit some expectations. Tragedy and/or loss followed by understanding and acceptance seems to be what actually binds most of the characters mentioned, not coping and escapism. Nihility is not the Path of Depression, it's the Path of Doing Your Best Anyway.
- Guinaifen has not elaborated but mentioned that her life on her home planet was hard. Very hard. People's lives not mattering that much hard. She carries on and works hard as an entertainer regardless.
- Luka has lost a lot in his life and has watched others lose more to the Fragmentum. He found purpose in saving others.
- Sampo's story is ongoing but we know that whatever else may be the case, he seems to actually care about Belobog and what's happening on Jarillo VI and has made it clear that Sparkle's methods do not suit him as he feels she goes too far with her "jokes" implying her casual disregard for other people is an issue to him. He works to help others in his own ways, from behind the scenes.
- Pela may enjoy reading in her off-time but she is still employed and working as an Intelligence officer in a post-apocalyptic world. So she's not burying herself in books. She also has friends she meets and interacts with - she plays in a band with Serval and goes hiking and has fun with Lynx. So I don't think she's burying herself in her work either. She's responsible, intelligent and sociable to some extent. Loss for her, aside from living on a world that has been living through an apocalypse for 7 centuries, seems tied to her losing her mother and her work with the military. It's not really expanded on, but she's definitely not someone who's lost herself in escapism, she just has hobbies.
- Silver Wolf comes from a planet where the boundaries of reality are broken to pieces. The reason she sees everything as a big game is because, as far as her perception of the world is concerned, the world is a game. Punklorde is a world that is partly falling into the Memory Zone meaning life there is similar to living in Penacony's dream, without having to go to sleep. The rules of the physical world are wonky. Her treating the world as a game is how she interacts with the world, not a way of denying reality. She doesn't strike me as someone who thinks what she does is trivial - she takes things very seriously. She keeps going after that high score, after all.
- Kafka has issues feeling emotions, specifically fear. That would be her loss. She isn't coping, she's actively working toward her goal of gaining some sort of feeling of fear back. We don't know how much more she's lost, but she is doing her best to get something back.
- Black Swan's obsession with memories and the collection thereof also seems to come from a place of loss. She's not using it as a form escapism. Collecting memories is what memokeepers do for a very specific reason: to preserve the world in some way in the Memory Zone where the Garden of Recollection is based. We recently found out that an entire world that was annihilated by the Antimatter Legion was reborn in the Memory Zone. The memories she collects are given new life in a space beyond the limitations of the physical world.
- Welt I take great offense with. Man IS old. He's 82 at the time the game takes place and has died at least once. He may seem sprightly but the guy has been through a lot. He doesn't use his age to be less involved, if anything he has been shown repeatedly that he WANTS to go on more adventures and gets giddy as a kid when something cool or exciting is presented, to the point where he has to hold himself back. But the man has lost his family, his hero, his student, a great deal of friends and most recently had to leave his world behind and travel with someone carrying the face of the one responsible for the vast majority of those losses. Welt could be a hell of a lot more nihilistic than he is, something that was actually explored in HI3rd during his introduction. Still he keeps moving forward and helping others wherever he can.
- Acheron lost her entire world and reason to fight when she realized the pointlessness of it all. It's not that she wanders, it's that she has nowhere to go. She is metaphorically "lost" more so than she is literally lost. She is still moving forward, and sometimes backward, and sometimes a bit to the left. But she's still moving at least.
What do these characters have in common? They have lost, they have suffered, they understand the pointlessness of it all and yet they move forward. The Nihility path is, as Acheron mentioned, pointless as it's an absolute - we all recognize that everything will have an end after all. This is the actual reality of existence: it will end. Most don't think about it and go about their business while some try their best to stand against it and reject the reality. Nanook's Destruction is pointless because at the end of it all, everything will die out anyway. Qlipoth's Preservation is pointless because no matter how many walls you build you can't keep the ravages of entropy away. Abundance won't keep things alive when the last star in the universe stops shining. And so on for all the other Paths: they don't look toward the end, they focus on the now, eschewing the absolute senselessness of it all by electing to just look away.
So in that context, I personally feel that characters that tread the Path of Nihility are characters who understand the futility of existence and everything it contains from conflicts to happy endings, and yet continue living and caring regardless. What better FU to the universe that basically says that nothing matters and that you shouldn't care about anything than to understand that, and care anyway?
It's all very wholesome, not to mention uplifting.
I personally love IX and the path of Nihility so much, I just think it's so intriguing how different it is for Nihility Emanators to be created.
With most of the Aeons, they create their Emanators by gazing upon said individual and personally bestowing them with THEIR power, transforming them into Emanators; meanwhile IX never gazes upon anyone, as mentioned by Acheron. Which means that Nihility Emanators are purely created by accident, they tell us in the files that anyone, anywhere in the cosmos has the chance to become an Emanator of Nihility if they accidentally come into contact with Ix's shadow, be it via other Emanators or through their own means, like for example someone who is having a depressed life, someone who isn't aware of the path of Nihility, they could accidentally come into contact with IX's shadow in their moments of sorrow and accidentally become Self-Annihilators. I honestly think it's so scary and so fascinating how IX, an Aeon who never gazes upon anyone, an Aeon that isn't even aware of their on surroundings and powers, they still spread their shadow through the cosmos via Self-Annihilators, and IX probably isn't even aware of it.
That is honestly so true. Usually Aeons choose and pick their Emanators but IX does seem unaware of it and the fact these Emanator powers can spread decently stealthily, almost like a disease is horrifying. That is why I also find so cool for the Doctors of Chaos to exist who essentially are medics healing the Self Anihilators from these states with the Wax Seals. Their concept as a whole feels like a pandemic with a specialized group that takes care of it. Honestly I lowkey how we get the Nihility Trailblazer through being in contact with IX's shadow or something along those lines. The Aeon literally makes a narrative all on his own
I adore how different and polar opposited Aha and IX are. Be it in the way they act, feel and even their relations to other aeons and humans
You can’t exclude the best faction that is the Self-annihilator that triumph their self-loathing and now help others, the Doctors of Chaos will change HSR once they achieve their goal.
Imagine persuading the concept of Nihilism to see beyond meaninglessness and give itself meaning. This will ultimately morph IX into its new form.
@@nyeffer9414 I love that the Doctors of Chaos actively seek to proof to IX that life has meaning in the multiverse. And Welt might actually be a key piece for that given how he has is from another mutliverse. Watching IX potentially evolve into a new Aeon would be outstanding, especially with how it would show and proof an Aeon breaking away from their path and be no longer bound to it
@@ManCarSua I believe IX isn’t breaking away from Nihilism but looking beyond it’s initial depressions exterior, cause if nothing has meaning, and yet we still exist, hence meaning had to be made for one’s self rather than something we are created with.
IX has realize that no meaning is inherent, so once IX realizes itself could give itself meaning, from the shell like black hole image it has, it will morph into something more, like a butterfly emerging out of its cocoon.
@@nyeffer9414 Ooooh yeah I can see that being the case. Definitely getting the ideology of we give life meaning and we forge it would be a sick way to showcase it. We even have Acheron as proof now, who despite having these powers that cause death and spread IX's shadow, she was able to use them to preserve life and even give hope to others. I still adore the Aventurine and Acheron scene at the end of the patch
Also I love the analogy of IX sort of coming out of their shell/blooming. It would be awesome. Especially because in theory we do not know IX's true form, as it said to be cocered by the purple mist/clouds
For Luka and Guinafen it's a common trope for "genki" type characters to actually have very bad things happen to them, and so thier ability to keep up smiling is so much more respectful because they do so despite all the hardships, past or present (and yeah, only very close ppl to them will get to know of thier struggles)
Ooooh thanks for the information. I will write down the term "genki" for this. Really appreciate it! It is true yeah, once you see more of their troubled past or more of the reasons as to why they smile and how they overcame a lot of the things about their past you get to learn and enjoy seeing them so much more and get to respect them further as a character. Especially for Guinaifen I remember her home planet was destroyed, but the whole space pirates, IPC, trying to barely survive with what they could was eye opening. The part that hit me most was how she had become so apathetic and became depressed to the point that she was seeing her and her family and crew getting executed as a mercy and the best outcome for them once they got captured
The beauty in Nihilism to me is how, although it might sound pessimistic and is often portrayed as a bottomless void of irrelevance, it also frees us and gives us the opportunity to find meaning in a meaningless existence; to be our own gods, our own motivation, our own masters: define what matters to us.
Although IX itself might be terrifying and depressing, the characters associated with its path show us that other side of Nihilism. From Individuals like Luka and Guinevere, to the closest thing we get to an embodiment of IX in personality and behavior, Acheron, we see a positive side to their sadness, be it the altruistic attitude of a hero, the cheerful quirkiness of an entertainer, or the gentle and calming presence of a wandering soul.
I do not follow any particular philosophy for myself; i believe in not only finding, but crafting our own path through unique life experiences, but Nihilism has to be my favorite philosophy just because of how misunderstood it can be.
I've been walking the path of Nihility (in the game) since I learned about Kafka existing, and becoming playable, and I haven't strayed from it since. The rise to power with Black Swan and now Acheron has been a most welcome development.

I am apathetic to know about you following nihility
If an Aeon strays from its path, it instantly dies. It happened to the Aeon of propagation when it tried to stray away from propagation to survive but due to that it died instantly
Ooooh I see I see. My interpretation in the story had been that Tazzynoth made the attempt but it ended up being futile and got slayed anyways
I've never been the biggest fan of Nahility (I'm more of an Elation kinda gal), but I've always found the path interesting both in gameplay and in story. This video essay single handedly made Nahility one of my favorite paths. Nice work!
Honestly fair Elation and Aha as a whole are incredible funny as a path and I adore them and the masked fools a ton. Gotta adore Sampo. Glad you enjoyed the video essay and it made you like the Nihility more!
I always been Nihility follower since the first time they introduced Kafka. My DoT Team has some of the best developed character on my account.
My Kafka, Black Swan, Guinaifen is top tier (I could say). I can easily 0 cycle with them. Acheron only makes my Nihility team even better; my fully developed Pela, Welt, and Silver Wolf works great with Acheron.
Niiice, always great to meet a fellow Nihility Gamer. Love to hear that you like the characters and have invested in making them great!
Also yesss Kafka, Black Swan and Guinaifen are an amazing team, and I love that I got Huo Huo to support and sustain them, the ATK buff and ult acceleration does wonders for them. Acheron has made Nihility teams pop off so much and it makes me so happy seeing people build around more Nihility too in general as opposed to only running Harmony nowadays. I adore how Guinaifen, Silver Wolf and Black Swan apply debuffs on normal attacks so they can be SP positive for Acheron, especially guinaifen with her advanced first attack. That being said though, Welt has been my favorite support for Acheron too honestly. I have all 5 stars for Nihility Fully leveled, just need to work on the 4 stars personally
i love ix but damn im in too deep with preservation he's just that GUY the man that hammered a aeon to death, participated in the war against the leviathans, and is still building a wall
Honestly Same, preservation is my 2nd favorite path in the game, I adore it so freaking much. And honestly Qlipoth is such a cool character. They literally are a giga chad legendary Aeon. THEY literally are such badasses and have overcome and battled so many things and came out on top. Also the fact the Stonehearts follow THEM and have some of Qlipoth's power in their cornerstones blows my mind, and honestly makes me hyped to see more battles against them. I do not want to fight Numby, but a Topaz battle would be sick when she enables that cornerstone
If you look at it, if Himeko hadn't dropped and intervened on Belobog, we may have just learnt the power of a well kept Cornerstone. After all, Aventurine's was damaged, which essentially made him weaker. And some people were struggling against him at his nerfed by the lore self

LMAOOO Honestly yessss. I love how based and great Qlipoth is. Lore-wise I think he and Aha are some of my favorites. Qlipoth is just a gigachad that is turbo OP, and Aha is just chaos incarnate and a funny little guy that stirs up trouble in a great way. Like when he gave a worm I think all the Elation, to see if it could get into the Genius Society

20:16 Pointing it out to clear some confusion here, the Ever-Flame Mansion was a subfaction of the Annihilation Gang, it's not really an organized thing but more like a classification that encompasses a lot of people. For example, the Jepella Brotherhood in Kafka's myriad celestia was another subfaction of the Annihilation Gang and implied to be a rival to Duke Inferno's group. So it's not necessarily talking about Ifrit and the others, it's likely another group.
33:03 Yeah, this is just EN localization being EN localization. None of the CN characters that make up Acheron's name (黄泉) appears in Path to Acheron's (彼岸之扉)

As for Ever Flame Mansion it is true it wasn't them who tried to attack IX. But apparently still just being in the Anihilation Gang appears to be a general sentiment for people who want to follow Nanook but do not dare to appreach the Legion. Which seems interesting and I do wonder if we will get any legion characters in the future. I had forgotten to mention that in Silver Wolf's train conversations she even mentions she considered joining the IPC and the Antimatter Legion which was wild to see now
I kinda think Acheron's CN name is also Acheron but different
its the bets path now after we got Black Swan and Acheron added to the roster in addition to Kafka. and lets not forget that Pela a nihility path character is actually valluable to many teams as well.
i personally think nihility is now the best path and has skyrocket recently and is meta.
It was a pretty good path and yeah as you say it has only grown and super skyrocketed itself to the highest ceilings of meta
HOMU (the not mascot but kinda the mascot of HI3) Labs makes videos on HI3 lore.
Fun Fact! Many characters in HI3 have nicknames related to food, Kiana (the main character of Part 1) is sometimes called Tuna because of a translation joke. And Li Sushang is called Sushi. Fu Hua in her newest form is called spicy chicken (Kiana's Flamescion form is also called Spicy Tuna)
Ooooh, I didn't know that beforehand. It didn't click to me Homu was a character from Hi3, kinda. I remember seeing them from the April Fools animation and was confused as to where they were from

Oooooh thanks! I have watched Homu Labs video on Welt and it was really good. Also tried to watch other people's reaction to it so I could understand better more perspectives just in case. Thanks for the suggestion! I have started to look further into his videos!
not just gameplay wise, nihility is one of the easiest paths to understand lore wise but the more you learn the more you are confused about wtf is this path and aeon all about.
its also interesting that none of the nihility followers are true nihilists, even Acheron is not fully nihilistic as in one of her lines in the main story she says "until I reach the nihility's end" and if you read the text you will realize that the game shows that the"nihility's end" refers to device ix which we still pretty much know nothing off, which fits this path's narrative perfectly.

Surface-wise it is simply and easy but it is this simplicity that once you dive deeper lets you see so much more of it and lets us uncover so many layers of complexity that make it so incredible I feel. And yeah Device IX is still so unknown and the mystery will likely lead to more questions than answer which makes me hyped for it
Yeah in Welts case I think it's pretty much him knowing the incredible vastness of the honkai multiverse, all the different versions of reality, of people, paired with the fact he is incredibly powerful himself, that make him numb in most situations and a pathstrider of the nihility. Still he is a goated dude
That is also very much true. Welt has come from another world and has had his whole reality warped. It is also interesting how gravitational power seems to be so fitting for him, IX and Dr Primitive. So I do hope they make a plot like out of that in the future. And indeed Welt is Goated and we appreciate him!
Regarding Welt Yang in Honkai Impact 3d (and a bit of Acheron, since one of her trailers is literally an alternate version of the lore in HI3), I have finished the main chapters that involve him and his issues as a character. The first thing you must know is that he was a Herrscher of Reason before he bestowed that universe's Bronya with the title. The abilities that come with being the HoR are very versatile, as the user can create anything its mind is able to understand, such as weapons, battlesuits, machinery, etc.
This is not the first time Welt ends up lost in another dimension, as his first important role in HI3 begins with him disappearing into what's called "The Sea of Quanta": an alternate dimension that has important significance for the lore outside of our main subject today.
In the Sea of Quanta Bronya saw for herself many alternate results for her and Welt's story, one in which Welt ended up becoming a danger to the world as a Herrscher, whom she eventually stopped before she and the real Welt returned to the main HI3d timeline. It is worth noting that being a Herrscher is often a great psychological challenge and a dangerous situation for the world if the subject in question loses control over his emotions, and even if they don't they might still be killed by other Herrschers who do follow the will of the Honkai, which is why the possibility of Welt's tale ending in tragedy was quite high, just as it happened with his predecessor, who you already know by name: Joyce.
He is definitely a character that has lost much and faced firsthand the threat of devastation to his world multiple times. HI3d is not as peaceful as Genshin or Star Rail, and things tend to go sideways for the main characters many, many times. As you can see, the two characters that come from there have many reasons to tread on the path of Nihility.
Acheron... Or should we call her Mei? Has also a pretty devastating story that might have ended differently than in the game this time around, and if it ended the way i think, it makes perfect sense for her to be an emanator.
Replying to both of your comments, I do love how awesome and great they did to Nihilism in both how they display both the pessimism and the optimism that comes from it, and as you say we are our own masters and we define our futures. I really hope we get to see more about IX in the near future. And as you say, while I too myself don't follow any philosophy in particular either, it is really cool to see into them and understand the different perspectives

Oooh thanks for the information. I am still trying to get a bit used to how to go through the HI3 wiki and YT has been great with videos from Homu Labs and I recently found the Honkai Operation Center videos that provide some nice information too. Reddit too has been helpful with guiding me to information, I am glad some people there mention new lore or info and bring up the quote or evidence for their claims.
Definitely mixing ideas from the communities is great to get a bigger picture and more knowledge on how to see things and discussing them openly helps us all understand better
Nihillity is my Favorite Path, I don't know exactly what Makes it my Favorites but maybe I just like Crippling Enemies with Debuffs, started with Welt's slow and Imprisons, then giving them a chronic illness with Kafka and their DoTs

JingYuan is a pathstrider of Hunt. Their game path doesn't have anything to do most of the time with their real path in lore... Sure sometimes they can be like Acheron sometimes but most of the time its not
From my interpretation, a Pathstrider was when a character and their will aligned to an Aeon, rather than their belief to a god so to speak. Like they can believe in their ideals and follow them, but their will can be different.
I am aware their path don't have to mean anythinh with the Lore. But it is still nice to see a character in terms of flavor be aligned to their path in some way shape or form. Hence why a character with Huo Huo or Bronya's personalities would likely not be able to part of the Destruction or Hunt
If anything I should have used a different word than Pathstrider to refer to their in game lore. It is mainly used to say why it is fitting they follow the path, rather than THIS IS WHY they follow their path. Apologies for not explaining properly there

Just to share, I think not only Acheron is the emanator of Nihility but the sword also itself. Sometimes I'm thinking it's the sword that is truly the emanator of IX and it just influences Acheron. Cause the Myriad celestia talks about how thousands of swords turns to 12 then to 2 then to 1 which is named naught meaning nothing(nothing forge from nothing). Also remember when Acheron said to Aventurine she happened to be equipped with a sword that can carve through dreams something like that and can remove the harmony mark out of him - I wanna make a vid about this but eh Im feeling lazy haha - in Japanese beliefs iirc they said things can have soul and yaoyoruzuno, Izumo is a Japanese name/setting so there's that.

DOT gang is the best gang. I adore using Luka on my teams from time to time. Especially when using Ruan Mei as of late for that massive break effect bleeds that do % health. It is so satisfying

Debuffing is whatever for me. I just want one day to be able to toss 4 dot units and not feel bad for it.
Honestly fair, based and I love that. Being able to make the enemy just breathe wrong and cause them to take like 40%+ of their max health at the start of the turn is freaking wonderful. Personally though, debuffs are still some of my favorite mechanics but I do agree DoTs Galore is so fun

It is great, especially in Gold and Gears it is horrifying. Getting Elation After taste, Rememberance Interplay, Preservation Quake, all 4 dot types + the resonance 4 stacks + that one blessing that adds a random DoT when an enemy is weakness broken, again fully stacked. Just causes SO MANY NUMBERS to spawn

I loved nihility interpreted by Acheron in the current patch, the end of life is meaningless, maybe there isn’t a reason for life except the path you choose to walk for it, anticipating the end and leaving behind something you feel has been worthwhile. It’s a thing I heard earlier with the difference of “I don’t care” and “I don’t mind” and honestly that’s a pretty hopeful message within nihility. Still personally love the elation more nihility made its way up especially in 2.1
They really did a beautiful job with Nihility in 2.1 especially yeah. I love how they tackle both the negative and possitive of the Nihility and that we make our own path and future
@@ManCarSua Generally speaking I love that every path has their good beans and their bad ones, like the IPC being openly manipulating things to get an excuse to take Panacony back is awesome, same with the Family being shown as something sinister going on in the back, on the other hand we have nihility and elation that get good guys this patch or like non-destructive ones, Acheron helps people with finding perspective and Sanpo seems to re-follow Elation openly to defend Jarilo 6 in the future, I love this grayness of the factions and that the Aeons literally just look at their Paths virtues and not the person who follows them, its really cool to see :D
And while Sam is kinda there as a scorched earth kinda idea, the fact we see another facet that seems to care about people speaks volumes about her following Destruction (presumedly), alot of gray wiggleroom in this arc :D

33:10 Acheron is the river that souls need to cross to get to hell. Path to Acheron is self explanatory, while Acheron the character is an Expy name for the Raiden of HSR, but if you look at the meaning, she opens the path for souls to the afterlife like she did for Aventurine. I personally think "Charon"/"Caronte" (The ferryman that delivers the souls through the Acheron river) would've been for fitting, but Acheron does sound cooler.

I was always under the Impression that Acheron was the one to Rowe people to the land of the dead through the River Styx, not The Acheron being that river of souls. Honestly that explanation for how she opens the path to the land of the dead, so to speak, in Penacony is incredible and an amazing touch. About Black Swan, I do wonder if her brush with IX in Acheron's memories isn't what propelled her onto the path of nihility. After all, no one is born with a path, except for the MC.
Based on Black Swans memories/Character Stories, it appears like she was already pretty sad and going through a lot to begin with, it is after she joined the memo keepers that she found a sort of new hope in life by now wanting to preserve people's memories and keep them safe as opposed to creating new ones for herself. Idk TOO much about it though. Her encounter with IX's shadow via Acheron may have also helped push her further into said path honestly though. If anything I feel like she now looks far more emotionless than before. Such as when we see Firefly get Skewered in 2.0 yet both her and Acheron seem pretty much apathetic to what happened or showing very little to any emotion, sadness but not really any massive shock at the death of someone in front of them
@@ManCarSuaI can absolutely see where you come from. However, being on the path of nihility doesn't preclude one from displaying feelings, as exemplified by Luka and Guinaifen. Blade is pretty apathetic, yet he is destruction. Aventurine has every reasons to be nihility, yet he is protection. Black Swan certainly had fertile grounds for being nihility prior to meeting Acheron and maybe, as you said, it just pushed her further. But she is a memetic entity. If a normal person can be so deeply affected by getting in contact with IX. How much stronger would the influence be on a memetic entity?
Edit: Then again, one might need to have a pretty repressed ego to be a memetic entity in the first place? That alone could be a reason to find oneself on the path of nihility, I'd think. Aaaah so many possibilties, so many questions...
Yeah it can be a variety of things. Though in the cases for Luka and Guinaifen they overcame their hardships and for the longest before HSR happened they did go through rough moments that left them at rock bottom, but were able to move forward and grow from those moments and now want to bring happiness to others. As for Blade I feel he is more into wanting to die himself than being apathetic and shows geniune anger and upsetness when dealing with the former members of the quintet. And Aventurine hints at him also wanting to protect things like the preservation but also appears to have been somewhat atuned to Elation, which is kinda fitting from his passive a bit in flavor.
I can see them having the repressed ego in terms of that. Being a memetic entity means they can seek many things from memories and dreams and maybe even more wild things yeah. It is so open for speculations that it makes for great discussions honestly

I feel like you can explain emenators /path strider and follow situations. The preacher is an emenator his congregation are the pathstriders while those individual people pick and choose what they follow in their everyday life. Atleast that’s kinda how i see it. I just looked up who Vatividya is and it blows my mind to be compared to someone like that. That is a big compliment you are sending my way. Currently watching the Lore of Elden Ring Dragons. Listening to their voice is so soothing and great and I love how well they are narrating and visualizing their video. Their cinematic shots for the videos are so amazing. I'm definitely gonna be consuming this entire video by the end of tonight
I always assumed in-game paths were separate from lore paths. For example, I imagined that someone like Sparkle is harmony simply because elation is not a playable path. I did not think that there were any connections between playable paths and paths the characters followed because Hoyo only made 8 of the 16 or so paths playable. Or are these 8 paths like the major ones that everyone is connected to whether they like it or not?
I tried to look further on the interpretation for them, because to me beyond it all, I feel like they have to make a little bit of sense. Like someone such as Huo Huo would be impossible to envision in the Path of the Destruction or Hunt because of the way they are. I feel like Harmony characters have been mostly characters in leadership or with a good amount of connections. Like Sparkle essentially guiding us and Aventurine from the sidelines to make sure that all goes according to plan. And we have Characters like Bronya and Yukong who are the higher ups in their fields. I cannot say for sure for Harmony, I still would need to further look into them

Hunts have big ambitions ie Ratio wanting to join the Genius Society, Yanqing wanting to be the best, Topaz with her business and connection
Destruction can be seen for recklessness and unimaginable power, Hook/Arlan and Blade/DHIL/Jingliu
Erudition are characters which are really smart and adept when needed, like they don't lose their cool and are level headed even through adversities
Preservation are very much looking out for others and wanting to keep them safe
Abundance all appear to ge in general healers in one way shape or form, even Gallagher apparently who is adept at Dream Drinks, since those can help people who are going through heavier stuff and allows them to regulate their emotions, he is a bartender therapist/psychiatrist to an extent due to how Penacony works apparently
@@ManCarSua oh wow, this makes so much sense! I guess for sparkle, she has many clones of her self and shares a ‘hive mind’ with whatever is behind the mask. That can be seen as ‘harmony’ since she became one with the mask. I recently learnt that harmony is not necessarily about being good and wanting peace, it’s just about unity which makes sense in the case of sparkle (or so I think lol).
@@larcade1329 Yeah no Aeon is truly evil or good. Since any of their actions can still lead to any number of outcomes. Harmony has a lot to do with Unity and the fact they somehow managed to make a prison a tourist spot makes me think it wasn't done in the most ethical way, especially with the way Sunday's action have been. Also Xipe assimilated the Aeon of Order too since they were too similar apparently so we may see hints of Ena in the future of Penacony hopefully

I'm pretty sure the path is defined by the aeon. If IX got happy, the path that he represented would no longer aptly be called 'nihility'.
Yeah the paths are born from an Aeon so they are unable to break away from it entirely. So that is why I saying, in a what if they are forced to break it, what would happen? Like, what if you were to imprisson an Aeon similar to Akivili, who needs to stays moving and shackle them to one particular place long enough for them to no longer be considered and moving anymore. Would they transform or simply perish? I feel like that is something I'd want to see get explored
@@ManCarSua Personally, I suspect the desire is what would matter most. If Akivili still DESIRED to trailblaze, then he would still cast his gaze upon those who trailblaze, and therefore you'd still get power from trailblazing. That said, we also don't know a lot about aeons at this point. Understanding more about how they work on a fundamental level well enough to answer things like 'what if someone gave IX hope' is something we'll no doubt explore later (I say that because looking at Genshin, 'what if an aeon chose not to behave the same anymore' feels like the kind of plot HYV would want to explore)

I jumped a bit on the conclusion there due to circumstantial evidence. That was my bad. My apologies for the long explanation of my logic ahead. But yeah in short it was me jumping to conclusions
I got immersed on that from how the Rating Pistol shows Invalid rating to the characters that so far have appeared to be Emanators with Acheron being added there. All of their characters are mysterious and we are yet to learn more. For Jing Yuan's case the fact his powers were given to him by Lan themselves and has been a sort of blessing they have bestowed on them that they can take away and pass around sounded a lot like how it is described Emanator are gazed upon and favored by the Aeons, with the exception of IX who does it on accident.
In cases for March, she has a crystal like ice that appears to ressemble that of Fuli's body and how her taking photos parallel's Light Cones. And Luocha having roots and a bit of a deeper and more interesting understanding of the Abundance. This also lead me to believe that Sampo might be on, with a gag appearing to seem like a 4th wall break like Aha did in Simulated Universe, and it might explain why Sampo has a much different view on Elation than most of the Masked Fools as we saw on The Memory Bubble at the Aetherium Wars Ring.
Also, as for Black Swan and Herta do getting rating scores. I believe Black Swan is not an Emanator but people misinterpreted the line, assuming all messengers are Emanators and such, which seems a bit far fetched. And for Herta I had assumed it was due to the one we use being a puppet

As for Herta getting a rating, I always thought that was the case due to our Herta being a puppet as opposed to the Real one who is an Emanator. At least that is how I was seeing things. I do know the Generals are not said to be Emanators, but they are blessed with Lan's Blessings themselves/the power is being given to them, similarly to how an Emanator obtains their powers. It's funny how the path is about meaninglessness or exhaustion, and Nihility is the futility of life. And yet Acheron, an Emanator of said path tells Aventurine that because Nihility, meaninglessness, surronds everyone equally it so has no meaning either.
So if all our lives have no meaning, then it's the same for everyone, then it comes all the way back around and that has no meaning in the first place. It's like a serpent eating its own tail, a meaningless endeavor in its own meaningless existence which gives it no meaning in the first place. This path is philosphycal black hole, my head hurts...
Yes it really is. Though I do like how it is a perfect interpretation of Nihilism as a whole. Since, according to the ideology, while life may be meaningless, it is upto a person to determine if they will do something of it or let sorrow overtake them. That is why I love the concept of Doctors of Chaos and them being essentially cosmic psychiatrists to the convoluted case that is the Nihility

Otherwise they can work together, kinda like how Ena the Order managed to convince Qlipoth to act in Swarm by making a deal of sorts. I assume that if Aeon makes something akin to a contract they too would be bound by it

Honestly even since Huo Huo it has been great. Every patch has honestly been a giga buff for Nihility AND Jing Yuan. Socit has made me so freaking happy. We even got the DoT set and debuff encouraging sets which makes me very happy
I see Nihility as sort of like a Snowball character in fighting games, the more time passes, the better it gets, We didn't have much to work with at the start, Pela and Sampo didn't really have much synergy with each other, but patch after patch, we got more to work with. Kafka works so well with other Nihility units that use DOT's, SW can be used anywhere if you need to apply a certain weakness type, and now we got a Mei expy that has a play style that bears similarity to Ratio. we have so much to work with now compared to before.
Honestly that is very accurate. Both in how it has been growing but also in gameplay too. Pela, Welt and Sampo were amazing designs but lacked a ton of support. With the new relics, characters and enemies they have been giga thriving and I love that. On top of Kafka and Silver Wolf. I love how Dr. Ratio was the first to encourage Nihility and debuffs into his playstyle. I love we have so many options, viables comps and even ways to further improve them
If you love nihility you probably have a superiority complex, and I love nihility

Yesss I lovd SMT IV's overworld theme. Tokyo was such an awesome song. Even though the song kept repeating over and over again due to getting jumped by enemies so many times and encounters making the song begin from 0 again

Wait were was Acheron compare to be weaker than Welt?
It was never stated explicitly. Only mentioned how Penacony was wrong to assume that Acheron with her blades was more dangerous than Welt who literally wields a black hole
Also the way I interpreted Acheron using her attack at the end of 2.1 was both to save Everyone from MC's stellaron exploding. But also to prevent Welt from Summoning a black hole that would have likely left Penacony likely in ruins as one of their most prominent and important landmarks would have likely seized to exist
@@ManCarSua okay but in my opinion which I might be wrong but in the context of there conversation it’s was more like she was criticizing him on how he keep demanding her to reveal her secrets when Welt himself is hiding a bunch of stuff like the his cane is a divine key and the mc having a stellaron. From the knowledge I have from HI3rd his Cane being a Divine Key shouldn’t be that munch stronger than her sword because the swords form her world are variants of the Divine Keys and Welt’s cane should be the equivalent of the 9th sword Root.
Or just the fact that Welt warns Acheron that if she doesn't do as he says, she should expect " gravitational disintegration "

That is also true and fair. I mainly took that interpretation with how the two of them had that tense encounter. Also idk why your reply got held up for review, sorry I just saw it now. I feel like while they are variants and should still be in a similar level I think Welt just has a vast majority of experience and he literally combat a lot of struggles and enemies back in Hi3, especially in that animation where he screams that he is Welt of Humanity and he was the guardian of human race as he uses the Star of Eden. Like he is adept and is also mentally in a better mental state in comparisson to acheron idk. It is likely they are evenly matched or Acheron may even be stronger given how she literally froze time to execute that attack against Aventurine
Please tell me nihility isnt the only perfectly designed path. Ix makes me anxious, i dont like it.
There will be more of these for other paths and aeons. And I will not be limitting myself to playable paths. So I have been looking and have been adoring reading on The Elation, as well as both the Erudition and The Preservation

I myself am very interested in general talk about how characters ingame path does mirror their actions and/or personality in lore and game story or at least evidence for their admiration of the gameplay path, maybe how it represents them even more than the path they follow. Sparkle is harmony, yet she is a menace, ruan mei's actions doesnt speak harmony with how she endangered whole space station but maybe i didnt research enough. Clara and hook on destruction. Fine, they're kids, they do be reckless and destructive. Also more straightforward and obvious like Gepard preservation or Blade destruction, as a comparison on what characters we expect in which paths.
If you plan video about it, it would be cool. But that's just me.
That is awesome. Personally, in regards to those I am still looking further at the characters for other paths. But if I had to guess. I feel like for Sparkle even though she is chaotic and a menace things she plans and the mischeive she creates is decently planned out, aside from a few hiccups. Like when she kept saying "I am Sampo" rather the full name "Sampo Koski" as he usually does. It feels like her plans go in a mass scale involving many parties and needing all of them to work in a specific "tune" so to speak for all the pieces to land right for the show she wants to produce for the Elation and for that Harmony is needed. And as for Ruan Mei it would be related to her playing music
Over all though it seems harmony characters have a leadership position/stance
Bronya : Leader of Belobog
Sparkle : Orchestrating Penacony and guiding Aventurine and the Trailblazer
Asta : high up at Herta Space Station
Yukong : Used to be a pilot and leads Starskiffs at Central Starskiff Haven
Ruan Mei: Leads her own research, part of the station and the species she created
Hanya : was the one that Xueyi and Huo Huo respected most and followed her lead
Tingyun: Technically had a lot of connections before hand to the loufu, which could symbolize that leadership. But also, it can be because she was leading the antimatter legion (as phantylia) during the story
But I still need to look up further and do more research to be sure and try to find better information
Also as a quick addition:
Robin literally has a lot of fans that care for her and is part of the family with Sunday, so she has some authority to take care of too I imagine
Similarly this would be the same for Sunday if I had to guess and if he was Harmony too

I was thinking if characters that use follow up attacks have some elation in them and those who do debuffs(even if they are not considered debuffs) like clara mark of counter or Hanya and her Burden, have a side of nihility to them. But i dunno for some time i thought it might be true but, Dr ration doesnt scream Elation! To me for example.
And the same if characters have aoe or single target if their approach is focused and/or more narrow minded like hunt or well thought off like erudition etc.

You are free to believe so. I gave my reasons as to why TO ME. It is perfectly designed. I don't see an identity crisis for it. In gameplay and flavor they excel in the right way. The fact it is centered around DoTs and lowering stats is perfect as they both are DEBUFFS. Not to mention their lore and thematic feels incredible. Try watching the video first and hear my points rather than only looking at the thumbnail and make a ton of assumptions. Makes you seem ignorant, especially since I clarify certain aspects of what I am talking and gameplay is not EVERYTHING
Just because you have 2 types of Nihility doesn't mean they both can't be. It is as if you said just because a Fire Mage and an Ice Mage are different and focus on other magics, then Mages are not designed well

Example : Kafka', BlackSwan, Luka, Sampo is All Focus on DOT while on What i considered a True nihility are SilverWolf, Welt, Pela and Acheron is true Debuffer See the Difference My Guy both are not just like Fire vs ice Mage its more like DPS vs Debuffers why you compare both type of Nihility Use and work very Differently
and the REASON on why i didn't Watch the full Video is i already LOVE Nihility i love everything about them in STORY, CHARACTER, LORE AND IX except for DOT i just Hate DOT i want More TRUE Nihility in the game

Alright I can get behind that. I personally consider them both to be 2 playstyles that work well together. In other games my combination was debuffing enemies to the point I got them on lock down, then spam poisons and chip to remove them from the game. Even then, there is no such thing as TRUE Nihility, again just because there are 2 sub branches of Nihility doesn't invalidate the other. The comparisson is that you are using 2 Nihilities but disclaiming one of them for not fitting "your standards", because you don't like DoTs, but I can respect that. Also in the video I do go over Lore, some implications about the path and not just game
Also it feels much better to have this conversation now that as you say your REASON is that you love Nihility too. Sure DoTs aren't your prefered playstyle and that is fine.
