    Even if you know how to HGE, even if you know how to Dav's, it's always nice to have another option if you're looking for something different to do. To me, that's the 'best way' to play. Sometimes people mash together "best" as "most efficient," which need not be the case. Best is what works for you, and if that happens to be "being most efficient," then have at it! No right or wrong here.

      No-one gets murdered in E:D. Everyone makes it to a lifepod and awakes at a station (or in prison) - some of the NPC pilots must also have insurance because they're soon back out there being shot down by me (again).

      And both methods... suck.
      HGE farms is better than both and then some.
      Don't waste time at the SRV track or murder random innocent people. Go find High Grade Emission, particularly from Imperial wrecks for Simp Shielding and trade away.
      Face it, getting Materials sucks. So always do it in the absolute most efficient manner possible, even if it's slightly mind numbing.

    What I like about Dav's is the fact I can kick back and use my xbox controller for the SRV, making for comfortable prolonged grinding (also each reset takes like a minute and a half once you get the hang of it, so I feel it's a faster method too). But I didn't know about this place until today, so thanks for that! Seems like a nice change of pace for some shorter, high yield farming sessions for those sweet, sweet components!

Conversely, *if a target is 5 or more combat ranks below the player, they give no experience at all.* In order to rank to go from Deadly to Elite, you have to kill *at least an Expert* to get any xp, and they'll only be giving you a quarter of what a Deadly target would.

    I like HGEs in Imperial systems personally. Guaranteed at least 9 grade 5 materials per signal. Empire aligned systems with high population (in the billions) with state none or election give the best chance for the HGEs. Scan the nav beacon, jump to supercruise, check for HGEs. When done, go back to the beacon, log off for 10-15 minutes then log back in to refresh the system.

  • @lightwoven5326
    @lightwoven5326 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My opinion is that Conductive Ceramics is the lowest drop from Dav's Hope, along with Chemical Manipulators. Both are required for Overcharged Power Plants and Charged Enhanced Power Distributor. So if you need to max out for those on ships, the majority of new ships for sure, then Hot Jupiter should be the first port of call. For everything else Dav's Hope gives the best return on time.

    This is kind of a moot question as HGEs are more efficient than both. The trade down rates are very good for grade 5 mats.
    Granted you can't get all class 5 mats and pharmaceutical isolators and improvised components can take a while to find. But the rest are easy to find. And even for the rare ones if you find just two HGEs with 20+ minutes left you can fill all the lower grades on the branch with the first one and get enough with the second that you likely won't need more for months

    Hey Astro - I know this is a few years late, but still may have some relevancy. Dav's Hope is also way better for starting or reset characters. We have to note that you're using the Cucumber - essentially an end-game ship that probably already has a bunch of engineering. For people looking to bulk up their engineering materials from zero, even Grade 1 and Grade 2 materials can be valuable, since they can reduce time spent traveling between mat traders to cross-trade, especially if you have a small or beginner fleet. Just a thought.

  • @pluxauag7555

    One Last note, as promised, a list of Materials from the BD-09 956 system. I parked at the first moon of the Main Ringed Gas Giant with an Alexandrite Hotspot. Every exit, re-enter should spawn around 7 signal sources within 1 light second (yes I said 1) of the nearest signal source. Don't bother with the DSS, unknowns on the filtered to signal sources Nav list should give you a massive list with around 12-15 within a total of maybe 4 or 5 within 10, rest within 100 Light seconds. Triple Encoded drops happen every 3 or 4 occurrences from private data targets within encodeds so those are extremely useful. The list is: Mechanical Equipment, Shield Emitters, Heat Dispersion Plate, Galvanising Alloys, Chemical Processors, Hybrid Capacitors, Salvage Alloys, Worn Shield Emitters, Grid Resistors, Conductive Components, Heat Conductive Wiring, Crystal Shards, Mechanical Scrap, Basic Conductors, Chemical Storage Unit. Take collector limpets and use them blatantly, you'll be in and out of signal sources within 90 seconds and take 30 to 45 seconds to reach the next ones. This is quicker than Davs hope this location.

Has very high HGE spawn rate, 2.) Gurney Enterprise has manufactured trader, allowing you to restock on limpets, trade down, and continue farming. Here's my list of nearby HGE systems:
      - Saranyu: Core Dynamics/Proprietary Composites when state None, Proto Radiolic/Light Alloys when state Boom
      - LP 834-42 for Proto Heat Radiators. Not as common HGE spawn but good to stock up for Efficient Beam engineering

    I like to take all the pirate missions for one system, then go to a couple of nearby systems that also offer pirate missions for that single system. Take a Python/Anaconda/Corvette/Cutter with a 5A or 7A collector, and about 100+ limpets. Kill the pirates, usually at Nav beacon or at the mission signal sites.
    You get 1) Mission rewards, 2) Bounties from that system, 3) Manufactured mats, 4) Combat rank.
    As you get higher in rep and rank, the pirates get better. I'm Dangerous now, and most of the named pirates fly Anacondas and Corvettes. Usually one or two lvl 5 drops.
    It's low key and doesn't seem as "grindy" as Dav's Hope. Pluse, I've made over 50mil credits/hour with good missions. (Tip: If different factions give you mission to kill X number of pirates, each pirate counts for both missions).
    Hope this helps.

    The problem with the Hot Jupiter site is you need a decent ship to kill them quickly enough before they jump (at least I do😀) . I think cross-trading from other sources would probably be quicker.

    It's a nice change up to the process of material collection - shame there's not G5 stuff to make it even more luxurious however.. Certainly not a bad way to kill time and shouldn't be that difficult to get enough G4 materials to trade up to the G5 for that one off module completion upgrade. FSD to max, thats a given, and the usual for all the core mods. Pris shields maxed out, same with shield boosters with 1-2 explosive resistances to handle the mines, lots of shield boosters. Guardian shield booster. You'll want your shields as strong as possible so you can last, even though you wont be shot at very much. In saying that, maybe go the other way and go Bi-weave for the fast regen in between shootouts.... that prob wont shoot back. That will work if you can dodge all those mines, otherwise, go Pris shields if the mines give you a hard time.
      2x MCs>Overcharge>Incendiary; in the Huge slots for hull and can also help with shields,
      2x Beams>Long Range>Vent; in Med slots for long range shield attack and heat management (you'll over heat with all guns and cells firing),
      3x MCs>Overcharge>Oversized (one with corrosive); in Lrg & Sml slots for hull.
      Sensors on max, not lightweight like we normally would, so you can spot them at long range and start shooting with long range beams, and by the time you get in range with the guns, their shields should be down. "Fire the weapons" "Which ones sir?" "AAAALL OF THEEEEEM!"
      Scanners on fast scan if you wanna bring them. 10 secs down to 2 secs.
      And most important, engineer the coffee maker from 2 cups to 3 cups. You'll need it.

    • @CueDriver
      @CueDriver 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Made a video just for that. I have Virpil controls as well and you will need 2 programs to download to make all the buttons work. JOYSTICK GREMLIN, you run while playing ED. You need [vJoySetup] first then 'joy grem'. Since windows only recognizes 32 buttons. This way you make Windows recognize more buttons. Just letting you know when assigning functions between all your control you will notice 3 [joy 1] while setting thing up. be sure to take notes of what buttons you assign to what. So you don't confuse yourself. Look for his how to setup Virpil controls for ED.

    How do Dav's Hope and Hot Jupiter compare to HGE hunting and trading down? Obviously the latter will be better for G5 mats, but for 2, 3 and 4? For reference I usually go for a mix of Dav's and HGEs - mainly for variety (might throw Hot Jupiter in the mix now). Thx.

      @@ICKY427 I've done it and it is a HUGE time saver. I don't know why anyone recommends Dav's Hope anymore. One stack of grade 5 mats can be downgraded into full stacks of grades 1, 2, 3, and 4. Cross category downgrading will fill your grades 1, 2, and 3 inventory.

    High grade emissions beat the ever living crap out of both hot Jupiter and davs hope. A single grade 5 manufactured material will give you about 80 or so grade 1 in the same category. As you go up to grade four, that number obviously drops but even so, grade 5 materials that you can refresh by exiting the desktop and starting the game again just seems so much better. A little annoying that you have to close the entire game but a lot more materials.
