  • The weather is getting colder out here in CO so I think its time to try to weather proof the 68 charger ' General Mayhem". The general mayhem never had glass but if I am going to be driving this thing year round I would like to have a few of the basics like a back glass and some sie widows and maybe even a heater! So today I started with the back glass since its probably the hardest part. The door glass will just be swapping an extra door with glass.

    A '68 Mopar just makes the heart skip a beat, it's their best model year. And now yours has shiny rear glass with chrome, enjoy. I grew up riding in a '68 Coronet 440 station wagon (confusing '440' as model number not engine size). Soon as I see the little round marker lights on the side I'm like "woooooo!"

    I wanted to see how you put the trim in the rear window, wished you would have filmed that.

    You missed a great opportunity to help people.
    Instead of showing yourself installing the clips, laying the butyl tape, setting the glass and then installing the trim, you jumped right past all of that.
    Was your purpose here just to provide updates on the car or to help people?

      it was a learning step for me as well, and I filmed it as an update on the car. not thinking of it as a tutorial. but it definitely seems like enough people are interested, I'll have to film more specifics the next time I do a piece of glass

    Why wouldn’t you be original and build your own version of a cool car instead of try to copy road kill with the looks and mayhem name etc. It’s just like with general lees no one can be original these days.

    • @floyds.mayhem.garage
      @floyds.mayhem.garage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      is the general mayhem not cool? the general lee isn't cool either? they're some of the coolest and most influential cars out there. and why not the best of both worlds? have a replica of a influential car, and build an original, maybe you should check out some of my other videos. 68 d100, 69 charger daytona, 67 charger, 78 crew cab

      @@floyds.mayhem.garage Some General Lee’s are done right but most are just ugly hack jobs. The General Mayhem road kill charger is really just a hack job car as well on that show. They really never did that charger any justice. If you look back at hot rod magazine in the late 60’s, 70’s and 80’s the cars they had featured were unbelievable street machine builds. From paint, interior and engine compartment etc all unbelievable. Now everyone just takes a beast and slaps it together with a drivetrain like they accomplished something. Most guys take a car to a certain point but never actually finish it either. Hot rod magazine of the 70’s would of laughed at roadkill.

      @@mysterycomment1553 i embrace it. being young, ive grown up with a different car culture. im not a old guy who grew up with these cars and purchased one in the 70s or 80s for $500. they have been expensive and collectable my whole life. but, I own all my cars, and even as unfinished as my 68 charger is, I still have $20,000 into it. if thats not hot rodding, I dont know what is

      @@slippedknot2001 lots of the 70’s hot rods or street machines aren’t as much of a hack job or bondo cars as you think. Some of these magazine cars are still around in the exact same condition they were in the 70’s. But of course there are hack job bondo restoration cars out there as well. There is a 55 Chevy from hot rod magazine that is still wearing it’s 1971 paint job in my city and looks just as good as it did in 1971. People can build clone cars of tv cars if they want. But I think it’s cooler to build something original and not already done by someone else.
