Season 11, episode 4 is SO GOOD for magician Phil content, hope you do more of these reactions one day. Such a beautiful little bit in the show over the years
Great video! Eric Stonestreet (the one who was drumming and did the ball trick at the end) actually does magic, so he probably helped with the effects.
Really enjoying this series and your reactions. Also, i have to admit I fell down a rabbit hole one sleepless night and found your “greatish magic show” 1 hour video. DUUUUDE, you’re an awesome performer.
I love the series and all of your other videos you do. Wait correction I love the podcasts with Chris more but I still love these reaction videos!! You’re the best Wes and no doubt I’m gonna get some BOB merch when it comes out!
The funny part about them using that wadded paper trick for me is that I just watched Wes' Greatish magic show where he literally does that trick to a guy on stage. Awesome.
Hey Wes, great video as per usual, but I think you missed the first part of the first video. They do show her hand around his sleeve when she leans in to kiss him, before she sits. It's only a brief shot, and I'm not familiar with de-watching techniques, but if she had Blaine skills, I think the scene adds up if you rewatch it..haha
P & T have done the toss the object over the person’s head multiple times and it’s incredible, because the audience is in on it with them in the best way possible
7:12 You 100% can do it! Just off the top of my head: you use flat screens (instead of windows) and play prerecorded video. They never saw him physically enter the booth, and nobody touched the booth afterwards btw.
Modern Family is highly binge-able... we didn't get into it until at least a few seasons in. Great writing, incredible cast. And yes, Phil's love of magic is one of the most adorable things about his character.
I’d love to see you team up with the crew at Corridor Digital. They do reaction videos for VFX and stunt work, and I think it would be cool to revisit some of the combination clips you’ve done (or some new ones) and explore where the magic ends and the CGI begins.
In the 1st vid. She definitely did do the quick change. If you look you can see her clothes under the table. Can even see her white shirt and overalls. 0:53
IS NO ONE GOING TO ASK WTF IS GOING ON IN THAT BACKGROUND? WHO ARE THOSE PEOPLE? WHERE ARE YOU? DID YOU GET A DIVORCE!??! Seriously where are you..... Edit: Just finished the video... Listen, i'm sorry I over reacted earlier. I should of finished the entire video before commenting. But to be fair, you'd think Cole would have a better MIC at his place.... Sounded like we were in a bathroom together, you sitting in the tub and me listening to you with a motorcycle helmet on.
@@WesBarker I was also confused at first, but then remembered your post on IG yesterday 👍 Distracting is the 1st thing magician do, and that's why 2nd is always better than 1st 😂
Love watching your reactions! I don't watch the show, but I definitely will watch your reactions. Well, unless I'm busy watching this other channel I found. It's this charming, and oh so witty, dark-haired Goddess making killer drinks. Love the 3-drink minimum. Not sure why she keeps a head in the microwave..... 😂🤣
Instant wet->dry is possible. Perform trick as usual, but adjust as follows: 1) Wear a wetsuit that does not cover exposed skin. Optionally, wet suit can be removed before putting on costume at the end of the trick (but this takes extra time). 2) Avoid getting hair/face wet (a little bit of moisture is fine if you have a hidden towel. Coating the bottom of your face with aerogel will probably help. 3) Coat arms/hands in aerogel particles. This is mostly invisible to the naked eye, though it is probably noticeable if you shake someone's hand. Step 3 can probably be replaced with a decent towel, though the aerogel approach is faster since it can be done before the trick starts. Actually doing such a trick is probably not worth the hassle. Maybe if you were trying to fool a magician?
Still, a wetsuit is pretty thick so would be difficult to hide underneath your clothes. Also, the wetsuit would be wet so you'd still have to dry that off (or take it off completely before going into the suit like you said but those are very tricky to take off fast) But indeed, probably not worth all the extra work.
K so my kid tells me last night "I need to do something for our talent-less show tomorrow"... she shall be going to school with a whole bunch of paper towels now 😂
Wes, you should do a reaction of a video about “demon magic”, where some asian dude produces a bread out of a dough. Of course most of the stuff in there consists on CGI bs and paid audience, but it’s so funny 😂
Wes! It's Eric Leclerc here, one of the FUNNIEST all time magic scenes in Arrested Development is when Gob is just chilling at home in his magic room reading a book, he's sipping a drink and casually goes to put it on the table, but it's a black art well table and he just places in INSIDE the trap.. soooo good
Have you broken down Arrested Development magic scenes yet? I couldn't see it in your list of videos. The magic in it is utterly ludicrous but Gob is my favourite fictional magician because of how crazy he is. Also, their use of Final Countdown is amazing.
Love your videos! The Phil-In-A-Phone booth thing could work if the water is actually just between two panes of glass, making it appear that he's immersed. That way he'd still stay dry. Thoughts?
please react to the tony curtis movie, houdini...he and his wife do actual houdini tricks, though somewhat hollywoodized, but still faithful. i'd love to get your take!
@@WesBarker you took the words right out of my mouth! mind reading over youtube anyone? i can't wait to see your reaction! thank you sir. stay safe and keep inspiring☺
Hey Wes - I'm fairly sure it's Ed Alonzo that does the magic consultancy for Modern Family. I've seen him pop up in HIMYM too, he must be the go-to guy guy for shows based in LA??
I feel like the water one could have worked if there was a chamber between phil and the audience that filled with water while where he was actually stayed dry.
Hey Wes, you seem pretty active on looking at TH-cam comments so I wanted to ask you a question! I am 33 and a dentist, and I have never ever tried to “do” any tricks...tho I love learning how to do any trick that fools me. I can pick up on a hood majority of card tricks that are slight of hand only. My question is, am I too old to try to get good? Most of you guys have been doing magic since you were like 12 years old, so is this a skill that needs to be developed? Or can someone somewhat coordinated master tricks “late” in life? Is this like an athletic sport that need to be played your whole life, or more about the knowledge? I was going to ask Eric or Chris, but they would either feel too high and mighty to answer, or they would be insanely sarcastic! I really want to know! Thanks man!
Never too old to get good I don't think. It's more about knowledge. You don't have to get into the knuckle busting magic if you don't want. There is plenty of great stuff that is just smart/sneaky/clever/ but not difficult. Visit a magic shop in person if you can and you'll see!
"She never once went over to his side of the table." Literally at the start of the scene she was there, lol.
Yeah, and you can clearly see her hand on his wrist while she’s kissing him
18 seconds in she was over the table and you can see her touch his wrist.
Believe it or not.
It's the seeing Phil do magic got me into Magic 4 years ago. Not even kidding.
That’s incredible!!
Amazing

I took your advice and tried the paper wadded up trick... totally worked! My 3 yo never had a chance!
hahaha 👍 perfect
The last trick is just bringing back Wes shoe throw memories from your college tours... Best everrrr

Aaaaah! Makes sense.
HOW DARE you just stop and say 'UGH IM RAMBLING' when it was the part I wanted to hear the most! Damn you Wesley

Yes this what ive been waitin for
The end whete he throws the paper ball I immediately thought about how you do this with your shoe and other props it's so funny.

7:43 could be like two glass one where the water is and one where he is to give the illusion of filling up?

It's an awesome show. Hilarious at the right times, serious when it needs to be, and I don't think there's a week actor among the cast.
Next time you could react to some magic and mentalism from the show Mentalist (btw i love the show its soooo good) ❤❤
You've gotta react to "Deception". It's a magic centric show!

Penn is in another episode of modern family I think it's in season 7 and he does magic for phil
