Two things about this movie that I found funny. Mario and Luigi finish off Bowser with a nearly frame perfect recreation of the finishing move used during the Evangelion synchronized fighting scene. Secondly, when the Luma showed up at the end of the movie, someone in the front row of the theater yelled "CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SHOOT THAT THING!?"
That reminds me when we where watching no way home and i forgot his name ima call em octo, octos arms wouldnt work and some dude in the back row yelled “HE FORGOT TO TURN ON BLUETOOTH!”
Fun Fact: Jump by Van Halen was originally going to be used in the final fight, but the composer fought for there to be an original song in the final battle. And man was it a good song.
Every single pop culture song had an original soundtrack for it to, but Illumination spent too much money to not use those songs for most of them. Easily the worst part of the movie.

While I think Illumination actually did really well with this movie, I don't think they should handle all the Nintendo movies going forward. For something like a Legend of Zelda or Metroid movie, other studios should make those.
Illumination is pretty good (outside of their music) for more light-hearted series. I'd love to see the more serious Legend of Zelda games (original, LttP, OoT. MM, TP, BotW, TotK) done by a Japanese animation studio (ideally Ghibli).
Yeah, it kinda makes sense they'd cast someone else for Mario, since he's rarely seen talking. But Wario speaks in full sentences in Warioware Gold, and Warioware Get it Together, and if they went with that version of Wario, it'd make sense for Charles to voice him.
I love how the Blue shell breaks identity rules by having the sounds of the shell without wings from MK8, but being a flying one such as the one from Wii.
The new Mario movie was all it needed to be. It doesn't need to be artsy, or deep, or long. It's a Mario movie. It did its job perfectly, and I adored it.

I personally take issue with a lot of the professional criticisms of this movie for that reason, because it's not like I believe any movie should be exempt from constructive criticism overall...it's just that they expected a Mario movie, to have a rich and extensive plot I feel like the people who expected that, while I can sort of understand where they come from because of how saturated the market can be, have never played a single Mario game-

I loved the Banzai Bill scene, an unstoppable nuke going fast, unable to stop, or change direction easily. It really gave it, “gravity”, as lack of a better term. At least until mario poked it in the eye, and it suddenly seemed very bad.
This is one of the least painful Illumination movies to sit through, but considering what we expected from the others, this is pretty much the cream of the crap.

when i watched this movie in the cinemas, there was this 17 year old (he said it himself) who kept pointing out ALL the references, and at some point he screamed and i kicked his seat so hard that he stopped.

If the one critic said the plot for the Illumination Mario Bros film wasn't complicated enough then I don't wanna know what they would think about a Kingdom Hearts adaptation probably say it's too complicated even though Kingdom Hearts is known for having a complicated plot to where I played it my brain basically had an equivalent of a heart attack just trying to understand the plot. Charlie Day is so perfect as Luigi to where if there's a live action Mario film or show Charlie Day absolutely would be a perfect live action Luigi. The rainbow roads that they used in the movie is the one from DS. There’s no other rainbow Road that just has a strip of one color it’s always checkered or warped. It’s never looks like that except for NDS. So yes, you can get the mini turbo boost that fast. I really enjoyed this movie. My only gripe with it is that there are all the random 80s songs that are just placed in throughout the runtime for no reason. Nintendo has libraries of songs that could easily have been used in place of these songs and not worry about paying for copyright.
I liked it. I reminded me that mario was such an icon in the 80’s. It made sense as well since it’s illumination and they love their use of real life songs.

A lot of people were wondering why Luigi instantly knew how to fight as good as Mario during the starman scene. One answer. He won by doing absolutely nothing.
I and my mom watched this in theatres, and my mom said to me (14) in the first prison scene: "That blue star guy reminds me of you." Nice to hear my own mother calling me mentally demented.
I love what they did with the Shy Guys, made them genuinely feel creepy but also still maintained personality in them.

I really enjoyed this movie. My only gripe with it is that there are all the random 80s songs that are just placed in throughout the runtime for no reason. Nintendo has libraries of songs that could easily have been used in place of these songs and not worry about paying for copyright.
The worst example of this is when they used Take on Me instead of an original song called Driving me Bananas.
I liked it. I reminded me that mario was such an icon in the 80’s. It made sense as well since it’s illumination and they love their use of real life songs.
