Your productions are brilliant. They are pieces of moving art. You have managed to capture in time the many things that are moving so fast we never notice them . Excellent work.
What a cool shot at 3:56 with the street lights coming on and the moon rising. I like how you don't rush each sequence and put it to the beat of the music. Cool video!!
Thanks! I'm glad you appreciate not rushing a scene, it was my aim to give viewers enough time to absorb the scene in instead of showing short 5 second clips here and there :).
Congratulations on a beautiful piece. I shared it on my facebook page. I also worked on Mauna Kea for awhile and the night scenes sure capture what it's like up there. I loved the Oahu segments too.
This is my MUST-DO-IN-MY-LIFETIME goal, travel to Chili to see this miracle with my own eyes ! This is the best video I have ever seen on stargazing. The music is also awesome, I play it on my guitar while watching the magnificant video! Awesome !
Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed it! I have several other videos as well of the stars. By the way, all of the night star shots were taken on Mauna Kea in Hawaii, not Chile.
I'm not an atmospheric scientist but I think so, I see aircraft contrails (which usually cruise at jet stream altitudes) blowing at that altitude in that shot. In general the wind can blow in many different directions at the same latitude/longitude depending on the altitude. Check out this cool tool which shows winds (and other stuff) in (near) real-time. earth.nullschool.net/
The shots of Honolulu stripped of most of the natural color are particularly intriguing since they're such familiar views for me, but looking otherworldly and odd.
Thanks! Those were shot on an infrared camera, to be specific it is near-infrared (700-1100 nm) and not mid-infrared (15-35 microns) which is used in thermal imaging.
Very nice work Jason. I noticed some scenes were shot with a modified DSLR? Were the night scenes on Tantalus shot with it? I can hardly pull out any star-field up there without light pollution spoiling the fun. I suppose a clip-in filter from Astronomik would be great for that...
Hi, sorry just saw your comment. Yes I used a full-spectrum camera for a couple shots, hence the weird colors. Light pollution can be pretty bad, but it's still possible to see the Milky Way from dark locations within the city(!).
Dhiren Adatia Thanks! I shoot everything in raw, and adjust the white balance in post. I process each sequence within a few days of taking it, and it takes anywhere between half an hour to a few hours for each sequence, depending on how much processing it needs.
Yes on your camera you can select AWB, but only if there are no other variable light sources around. If say a red light comes into the frame it will change the WB of the shot and will not match the rest of your time-lapse. I also like shooting in daytime WB because it is consistent and the star colours are great.
+SyIRox GER Do you mean over-dub it with your own music? If so please don't as I've chosen the music I used to go with my artistic preferences. Thanks.

this is so relaxing 😍
Very nice and great job on doing the day to night and vice versa with no flicker!!

Beautiful to see this time lapse from Hawaii - thanks for posting. You captured some very nice sets - you must have been doing this for a while?
Great shots
Beautiful!!!
AMAZING
5:34 the 2 layers of clouds seem to head toward opposite directions !! Simultaneously. Is the top layer one what is called "jet stream" ?

WOW Just......WOW Epic
Thank you!
Thanks! Yeah this is a 4 year project in the making.
What camera(s) did you use? Great work! Going there in two months!
Hope you enjoyed your stay! I used a couple of different bodies, all Nikon though.
7:18 to 7:30... awesome!
Brilliant! With the White balance, what setting do I put it on, not AWB ?
Also how long did this take to edit?

Nice. I really want to do something like this. How do I edit raw images into a sequence like this? Do premier pro allow to edit in raw do you know?

Nice. Hope I can achieve something like that. Amazing stuff! I want to get 6D bt can't afford it right now :(
太美了这里!
I would like to use this video for music, would that be okay ? :)
