This guy ripped. Random skate story. I once drove with him and some friends so he could charge a contest in Riverside from SD. . 2 hour drive 100 degree in the car drive and he was packed in like a sardine with 3 guys in the back of a tiny Honda Civic the whole way. He got out, was late to register, they knew he was pro so said OK and let him take his run right there. Stone cold with no warm up and straight the the course. Busted a huge frontside flip off and a tre flip off the gnarliest obstacles there and got 3rd. I think Templeton got 2nd and Muska got 1st. Strange cat but he could skate his face off and was as creative a skater as the come.
My best friend looked like Steve Olsen i miss skating for hours back in the 90s. Sucks to grow old and have responsibilities. But i lived it so that makes me happy.
This section is just amazing, the rail tricks are just outrageous. Kinked 50s, kinked boardslides, roof drop to wooden rail, you'd be pretty hard pushed to find a more stylish 5-0 180 done on a rail, the gap to lipslide was damn stylish also and the guy 50s one rail and pops out to clear the kerb into the road! The only thing that disappointes me about Olson is that his Guilty section whilst good had nothing on this. The music didn't disappoint though of course, impeccable taste.
Yeah, I always enjoy talking to him at All A Board. I had no clue who he was and then one of the other dudes working there told me I who he was I was like THAT'S Steve Olson!!?
He does hip-hop in Tacoma, WA now. You can find him on SoundCloud. His name is Crazy Monk. My friends have recorded songs, and done shows with him. He's a super nice guy.
Same thing happened to me years ago...I was in there kinda early in the day, and bought a pair of shoes...After we left, the guy I was with said, "You know that was Steve Olson, right?"
just found out he was alex olson's dad. ha. i used to watch this video everyday before i went to skate. i just saw pretty sweet and i gave it up for alex for bringing that fun approach to his part. trippy.
That is a downright lie. I actually had a semi-long talk with him about skateboarding when I was lucky enough to be a the same table as him after he had a show one night. Steve is one of the nicest people around, and has connections all around. He works in a skateshop and makes hip-hop. You know nothing.
the skaters in the 90's had better style than today's.

So sick that he was pro back in the day and now his son is pro
