The leather on the Mexico 66 SD's are more deluxe, hence the name Super Deluxe [SD] and so I find them tougher then regular 66's and will take a longer time to break in....
Are they true to size? If I’m a women’s 9 what size would you recommend purchasing, size up, down, or accurate size

Mexico 66 SDs have different leather than the originals. So you have to go a half size down if you want a good fit.
For me i needed half a size up!

The official site says, it’s nippon made, but not all of them and the charge you as the made in Japan.
No. There are nippon made and non nippon made ones. The price is also significantly different

sd = super deluxe. longer silhouette, but a bit slimmer over all plus thicker leather (better materials)

it does feel more luxurious but like the silhouette changed to a chunkier shoe due to the thicker materials which i don’t know if its better than the 66. I think that i prefer the thinner and more slender look of the mexico 66.
