  • Join us as we travel from Budapest, Hungary to Krakow, Poland on Flexibus as part of our Europe bus travel series. Having spent a few weeks in Kyrgyzstan we took a return flight back to Budapest, Hungary but only for a stopover.
Originally we had planned to travel around the Balkans but we quickly changed that to the Baltics after experiencing high temperatures in Budapest and realizing it would only get hotter if we headed further south. With this mind we settled on starting our journey north in Kraków, Poland.
Overall, the journey was comfortable and rather scenic especially as we crossed through Slovakia. Upon arriving, before we even considering checking in, we first had to grab some pierogi. Afterwards we ended up getting super lost trying to catch a local tram because of bad directions.
When we finally did arrive at our AirBNB we were in awe of how big and nice it was. Given our excitement we had to pop open a bottle of wine to celebrate.

Europe Bus Ride from Budapest, Hungary to Krakow, Poland travel vlog video transcript:
Well good morning good morning from Budapest. We are back from Kyrgyzstan. We really didn't vlog any of that because our flight was like at what six in the morning. Yeah. We were up at four. We were so drowsy and we just slept on both flights. Yeah, we were proper zombies. Yes. And we figured it was the exact same journey just back to here. Yeah. But yeah we are going to vlog today. We've made a very quick change of plans. Oh my gosh.
Haha. Originally we were going to go to the Balkans. Yes. And now we're going to the Baltics. Yes because we arrived here in Budapest and it was so hot we couldn't function. And we were just thinking like are we really going to go further south where the temperatures are like mid 30s and even going to be going up to 40s. We were like no that is not a good idea. Let's head north instead where it is a bit cooler.
Yeah, so it has been put on the backburner. We're definitely going to go in the late fall. Yes. But just not now. Anyways, today we are off to Krakow, Poland.
    Alright, Flixbus again. Why flixbus?
Because it is cheap. It is cheaper than taking the train or flying. And how much were the tickets for this one?
We paid 11 Euros and it is a seven hour bus ride. That is not bad.
So the update is that we've arrived in Slovakia. I think we're somewhere in the middle. Yeah. And yeah I think we have about two and half or three hours left to reach Poland and cross the border.
And it has been a beautiful beautiful drive. Like Slovakia is man that is a country I'd like to explore more in the future. Mountains and forests.
Yes, lots of forests and just lots of quaint little towns. It looks really cool.
So I do like to know where we are. So we are in Ruzomberok. I probably butchered that fiercely. And we're on the way to Krakow.
And you know what? I think most travelers after like arriving to their destination are just like dead set on like getting right to their accommodations and checking in and whatever. But no not for us. We're hungry and so before we even think about going to our AirBNB we're going to find some food here.
Surprise surprise actually there is no surprise. What is the 1st thing that we're ordering in Poland? We're having Pierogi. Oh, of course.
We made it. We are on the 5th floor. Actually it took us a while to get here because we had been sent instructions and the two trams we were told to take. Yeah. One of them wasn't running at this time. Okay.
But we're here. We made it to the apartment. It is really cool. Like it is so cool.
Yeah, long day. Anyways, we've got wine in hand. We've got great adventures in Krakow so expect food reviews and a city guide and an apartment tour coming soon. Urgh.
    Ciao from Krakow.
This is part of our Travel in Poland video series showcasing Polish food, Polish culture and Polish cuisine.

Sam and Audrey, I visited Budapest and Krakow last August 2019, and had an absolute blast! In fact, I am planning to go back to both cities, as they had such an impression on me. Krakow was my favorite place in Europe! Before going, I really enjoyed watching your travel videos and they helped me so much to plan my trip. I love your work!

I liked this Video for a very special Reason. At the beginning you talked about how small your Apartment was but everything functional and good. Its the small things in Life we need to appreicate in order to enjoy the bigger Things. i used to live that way and it sort of payed off to me personaly. 👍

In Lithuania in the western part of the country I suggest Nida on the
Neringa sandspit, I highly, highly recommend Neringa and the small
villages along its coast in general, most people take a quick 15min
ferry ride across from Klaipeda and bike down from the tip of the spit
down to Nida, It's really beautiful the whole spit is covered in Pine
forest and you can stop anywhere and it's only a few hundred meters from
    the Baltic sea.
I also recommend Klaipeda city itself and Palanga which is just up the
coast. I recommend biking around Plateliai lake which is not really far
from the afforementioned locations (It seems like alot already but you
should know Lithuania is small and cheap so visiting alot of places is
    suggested)
In the east (virtually nothing in the middle part of the country 😁) I
recommend Druskininkai, the Aukštaitija National park and of course the
capital Vilnius. The climate is similar to Canada and/or finland to a
lesser extent so the summers are quite warm but the winters are brutal
    😁.
Forests cover over a third of the country, the food and culture is
similar to what you would find in Finland in some ways like the sauna
culture (which most people don't know actually emerged not exclusively
in Finland but in the eastern Baltic region in general thousands of
years ago) anyway.. 😁 Lithuania isnt Finland but knowing that Sam
enjoyed it over there, you guys will probably also enjoy Lithuania also
    🙂

You missed Vlkolinec, a UNESCO heritage site, just a few kilometres from your favourite toilet in Ruzomberok (Slovakia). For the best sceneries, start in Banska Stiavnica and head north, make sure you don't miss the entire Liptov region, Kvacianska/Prosiecka valleys, have a halushky somewhere, check out High Tatras, and then head to Pieniny national park and go rafting the Dunajec river bordering Poland. Underdeveloped tourism here, excellent product, poor marketing, not the right people in the right places in charge of things related to tourism (you saw that on the toilet), so requires extra research beforehand on sites like slovakia.travel/en/ Good luck!
