    One of the first collections of records that got me deep into sampling were the Dusty Fingers Compilations (17 volume deep) 💎 What got you interested in sample culture?

    Barry, that was an AMAZING tutorial. PLEASE make more videos like this. It was super informative..Quick question: when you applied the low pass filter, are there different levels or settings for how much you'd like to filter? The reason I ask is because it didn't seem to filter out a lot of the highs and only leave the low frequency in there. I could be wrong. However, I was just curious about the low pass filter. New subscriber, too. Blessings!

      @BarryDanielMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey David. Thanks so much for the kind words and your support. It’s greatly appreciated.
      To answer your question regarding the filter it really depends. For these two beats I didn’t want to take too much away since it was just the sample and drums. During this time I was really into a “lofi/ old” sound so I just used the filter to remove just a bit of the highs to make it a bit dull and less bright. If I were to add additional instruments I’d be more aggressive with the filter to make room for everything else. But it truly depends on the beat on an individual basis.

    Loved the beat, Barry. I was hoping you could give me some advice. I am wanting to get into hip hop/lo-fi/boom bap style of production. I am not a musician, so I will be 100% sample based. I'm undecided as to whether to purchase the MK3 or the MPC One. Can you point me in the right direction? Thank you for the content. Blessings!

    • @BarryDanielMusic
      @BarryDanielMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately I can’t answer that question as I only have experience with Maschine (been on it since the MK1). The reason I’ve never been tempted to switch over is that the Native Instruments ecosystem works perfect for my needs for sample/non sample music creation. Sorry that I can’t really answer your question BUT if I were to I’d say Maschine (as my super biased answer).

    Great tutorial man. Quick question and if this how you've done it I never knew you could do it. When you did that first sample loop did you truncate it first before changing to the audio module or did you leave it with the start and end point and changed to the audio modules and it retained the start and end points?

    • @BarryDanielMusic
      @BarryDanielMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. That’s a great question. I try to avoid truncating when I can as every time you do so you create a new wav file that unnecessarily eats up hard drive space.
      So to answer your question the start and end points do stay when switching back and forth between the two modules. And if you find your loop is a little off when moving to the audio module you can always adjust the points in the sample editor.

    • @TunzAmazin
      @TunzAmazin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BarryDanielMusic ok cool I did not know the start and end points carry over to the audio module. Very good to know. Thank you!

    Barry , if that beat is used to make a music would you have to clear the sample with any one?

    • @BarryDanielMusic
      @BarryDanielMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. In short, yes you have to clear any sampled material with the copyright owner.

  • @mystertom100
    @mystertom100 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    when you sample using the second method do you have to use the original tempo of the song sampled?

    • @BarryDanielMusic
      @BarryDanielMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. In short, no. The samples tempo doesn’t have to dictate your project tempo. You can change the tempo by adjusting the “tune” knob in the sampler engine (although that also changed the pitch) or time stretch it in the sample editor. And depending on how you chopped your sample simply playing it a certain way can change the tempo. You’ve got options my friend.
