    Just watched your video, I had the same problem as you but it took me 8 weeks. I injured my back and had no one to help. I ended up buying a second hand engine crane for $100 yesterday and had it in the car in a couple of hours. Like you said, I will never attempt to do a front wheel drive gearbox ever again. Thought your video was great, I actually watched the end most of all as I could not remember how the battery plates etc went back in. Thanks for the video.

      I’m glad the video helped! I said I’d never do it again, yet I changed an engine on another car if mine recently. From bad to worse lol.

    Just a small tip, when fitting the clutch plate kit, use a clutch alignment tool then the gear box will slide in without too much trouble!

      It was a gigantic pain in the rear end! If I ever see another clutch again, it’ll be a day too soon 🤣

    IMO alot quicker and easier removing the two bolts holding the strut and also slipping caliper off. That will also give you enough room to pop the drive shafts out without heat and special tools etc.

    Great video. I am about to do my daughter's clutch on her 1.1l 2008 Getz. I presume you only need to remove one side wishbone & hub assembly? Also do you need a clutch alignment tool, or could I use a socket or bar of correct diameter. Cheers

      @DABDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A socket and a bar will do fine, but a clutch alignment tool would be gold standard. Should only need to remove the one side for access.

    A little tipi picked up from a friend that works for homer. There is a pant called pond armour is for ponds so it’s a rubber pant he told me he uses it to paint the entire engine bay he said It dose 2 things 1 it provides extremely good sound dampening 2 it’s waterproof so stops corroding, and rotting it’s heat resistant and can be used on your undercarriage. He said it almost bullet-proofs your car. It comes with a 25 year guarantee as use for ponds. So I am thinking if I ever have to take out my engine I will use it. The only downside is that it only comes in Black white green Blue.

    Hi, great video :)
    Just wanted to ask; the sensor you unplugged at 2:50, is that the crankshaft pulse sensor corresponding to OEM number 96420-4A600 ?
    Thanks :)

      Very good question, well presented, I don’t know lol. All I did was unplug for access and plug it back in again when the job was done. Sorry I couldn’t be of any further help.

      If I can offer any advice, it’s be patient with it and clean everything off as you go. It makes re-assembly far easier.

    how many liters of gear oil did you use? Thanks

    • @DABDIY

      It’s been so long since going this job, I couldn’t tell you how much. A Haynes manual will have all the information you need, they’re reasonably priced too.

    Hello
    How much you would think all that cost ?

      If it were to be done at a garage, I should imagine £300-400, that sort of area.

      I’ll be honest, I don’t know. It could as simple as it still need bleeding or it could be a master cylinder or clutch. I wouldn’t want to guess and give you duff information.

      @ifshif5459 without examining, I’d just be guessing. I wouldn’t know where to start with that one, I’m sorry I can’t help you any further.

    I have 180k on the clock since new in 2006.Still on original clutch.It doesn’t get better than that.

    • @DABDIY
      @DABDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very good effort! As long as you can treat it nicely from new, you have complete control over it. With the way this one has been abused by previous owners, I’m surprised it lasted this long.

    My getz run slow wth high rpm is that the cause must change the clutch asembly?

    • @DABDIY
      @DABDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It certainly sounds like clutch slip to me.

    Why did you get gearbox oil??

    • @DABDIY
      @DABDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s always best practice to change the gearbox oil when changing a clutch. There’s no documentation in the service history of the vehicle to tell us when it was last done. All oil has a life span, so it’s always a good idea to change the oil.

      I have no idea. That would be a question that you’d have to pose to your local mechanic.

    Is it successfully clutch plates

    • @DABDIY
      @DABDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The clutch plates went in and were driven & bedded down successfully. The car hasn’t had a problem since installing the new clutch.
