    I was just sipping this after having opened the bottle a couple weeks ago and not really jiving with it. I felt it was too dry, lacked sweetness... was a bit disappointed... Than I got the flu. Sipping it today, I don't know if it was the time the bottle had to breath, my palate was off prior to the flu or a bit of both, but it just clicked... Could definitely feel the sweetness that I was missing... lots of heat (not alcoholic though), spice, red fruits... it's good stuff. It was rather costy so that was a relief. Cheers!

    Tamdhu 15 is a great dram. It was only $150AUD about 10 months ago when I picked one up. Would love to see a 15 year old comparison of those sherried whiskys.

    Great video man. I can't help but be very jealous of that chef's palate you've got on ya. Picking out those herbs, like fennel, so clearly, that's some skill. It's one of the many reasons you're gonna be a big deal on whiskytube very soon. I enjoyed the Tamdhu 15 more than the GlenAllachie 15, even though I ranked the GA15 higher in a blind. GA was better that night, but overall the Tamdhu 15 is where it's at for me. Cheers 🥃

    I agree a really nice whisky which does sometimes get overlooked .
    Just an opinion
    But I really don’t get why people spend so much time sniffing whisky and pontificating on about how nice it smells .
    What’s the point it’s ALL about the pallet , if it doesn’t taste to your liking it’s not for you , your never going keep it just cos it smells nice
    On the other hand , it could smell bad but if ya like the taste , you’ll buy it again .
    I appreciate quite often the two go hand in hand .
    But let’s not waste too much time sniffing
    It’s pointless ..Only my opinion 👍

      We have 5 senses to enjoy and experience our whisky with, why only limit ourselves to taste? Without smell there is no taste my friend 😉

    The Tamdhu's that I have had have been wonderful, however unfortunately they are positioning themselves as you said as a luxury product like Macallan. Had a independent bottle Tamdhu 19 cask strength from a refill bourbon hogshead years ago that was amazing. With that one because it was in a quiet cask for a long time the spirit character was on full display and it's a unique and flavorful spirit. Fun to find distilleries known for sherry as older independent bottles in something relatively neutral like a refill bourbon hogshead so you can taste where the flavor profile is coming from between the spirit and the sherry. Had a indi Glengoyne 21 like that too and it was so obviously Glengoyne in flavor profile without any sherry. Cheers

    What to buy between Glenallachie 15 and Tamdhu 15 ? Does Tamdhu 15 worth the price difference ?

    • @McIntyresMalts
      @McIntyresMalts  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not sure which market you are in, but if you are in Australia the Glenallachie 15 and the Tamdhu 15 are about neck and neck for price and specs. Hard call...
      I'm leaning towards the GA 15, but will do a versus video soon to determine which is best!

      No I didn’t. Good question! If I add water I will show that in the review.
