Hell I had to change a starter out on a 2018 silverado last week, it was just plain jane starter, not the start stop starter, and it was $300, Had the plesure of changing out a fuel pump on a 2020 Ram 2500 with 50k miles on it, things like that just shouldn't happen with new shit.

I love to go offroad and visit some awesome remote places, but I'd never trust that hummer with all of the issues it's had. When off-road, simple is best. I have a Jeep and a Tundra. The Tundra, as you guys have shown with other Toyota trucks, is sometimes finnicky with going into 4WD. It always gets there eventually, but an electronic transfercase selector is just another complicated thing that could go wrong. I've never had an issue with my manual transmission Jeep's lever operated transfer case going into 4hi or 4lo. I just trust it more, and trusting your vehicle off-road makes all the difference.

"... and make sure both vehicles are capable of recovering each other!"
Wouldn't that mean that you should never take the Hummer EV off-road? I don't believe that it is recommended to tow an EV that breaks down. It's typically recommended that you should only put it on a trailer or a flat bed truck if it breaks down..

The thing with Toyota's electronic front diff on 4WD vehicles is that it needs to be put into 4hi and 4lo periodically, even if you're not going to use it, to keep them from sticking when you do need it. Once I learned that (like just doing it after an oil change or washing the truck), I didn't have further problems with lights on the dash. Every once in a while I'd have to get into a scan tool to clear a code if it was really cold and I'd neglected to do the 'trick', but now I'll do it if anticipating bad weather for instance just as a cautionary thing.

I'm really torn. On the one hand, I have to give GM credit for being the first to be full EV in a dedicated doomsday truck. The Ultium platform is from-scratch, in which GM had no basis to go off of. Its been a long time for them on something that complex.(also developing the C8 at the same time). On top of that, this particular vehicle is incredibly complex, what with 4-wheel steer, air suspension, 4WD w/ f/r lockers, HUGE battery pack, crazy electronics, etc etc. So yes, it is a big vehicle with big complexity. On the other: It does beg the question of whether the TRX/Raptor are better buys. Yes, in WTF mode, the Hummer is faster, however the Ram and Ford aren't that much slower, offer better refinement(I was shocked by the wind whistle, road noise, and ride quality of the Hummer I tested), similar range WITHOUT range fatigue, better reliability(yes, TFL Hummer is not a fluke), and less ownership compromise.
If this vehicle is having this many issues this early in ownership, I can only imagine the horrors that await down the line...
