I would like to thank all the people who have been working to clear these roads every year so that all of us could enjoy. I'll be visiting this park on July 2023 so I'd like to thank you in advance for all the work that you do! Stay safe 🙏

I like it on the hottest day in July where the temp changes 10 degrees from top to bottom.

I drove the road once, shortly after it was opened up one year. The snow banks were impressive that they cut thru. At the top of the road, there was quite a bit of snow, still on the ground.
To clear the road, they have the entire road programmed by GPS. The snow blowers can drive blind into the snow, guided only by GPS. The big 60 foot plus drifts, are dynamited out, based on GPS, since the road is buried. The clearing process can take months, to use a road for a few months, before it is blocked again for the winter.

They used to do it by memory, last time I was there(25-26 years ago).

That's a heap lot of ❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄! I hear that road is scary in the summer..who wants to drive it in the winter????

You can’t drive it in the winter. This is the effort needed to open the road after the long winter and spring winter weather has passed. It only stays open for a few months of the year.

Those workers along that route deserve a knighthood ! ( says Lester , from the UK 🇬🇧) I did the route , on May / 2004 , a day after they cleared it of snow !

Yeah,Les after Brexit maybe USA can buy a bunch of knighthoods in a deal for British privatised capitalist health care.

We drove that road three times a few years ago in mid summer. The height of the road is less of a concern. Meeting a giant pickup truck on the outside of a sharp corner requires attention.
The road to Many Glaciers is very rough and more difficult to drive. That road is built on collapsing glacial sediment and moves slowly and steadly downhill.

You can instantly discern flatland drivers as they take their half out of the middle of the road.

We are planning on riding Bikes on Going to the Sun Road in 10 days
(5/20/21 through 5/22/21) any tricks to know what time each day the gate
is open ? We will be there Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Thank you
    very much!

I'll just get in with a comment about big machines with room for balls of steel before some else does and a joke with 'hold my beer' in it. All sarcastic.
