Won’t your leach field pipes clog up with solids since they drain from the bottom of your tank? Shouldn’t they have been placed higher up and had baffles? Does this design actually work?
Hi 3ehahn, they don't clog up because they are placed right on the top of the liquid level, please refer to the drawing from the thumbnail or you can see better on this short I made: th-cam.com/users/shortsexuu01FZiEc?feature=share
The system works for 6 months now and still counting👌
A place near me has these connected to 12 static caravans. They have raw sewerage on the ground everywhere. Any idea why?
Good job! That’s hard work digging with a shovel.
Yes indeed. ☺️
What pipe and lid did you use for the clean out opening
Ty cool septic tank videos
Well done my man 🙂..very instructive can't do this in my backyard in the city
Thanks a lot Vincent! 🙂
Nice work !
Thanks!
I built something similar for remote one person cabin. Working great at one year. I only used one tank
Good luck
That's wonderful Steve! Take care.
I wish I had ground like that to dig
I’m trying to view your short to check on the way pipe was installed within and between the tanks. I’m still working on the hole. (Hard, compacted clay soil here)
For a one person system, are two drain (leach field) pipes required?
Hi Skashoon, bellow is the link to the short.
About those leach field pipes, is better to have 2 pipes for better drainage, it is not required, but is more efficient.
Good luck with your project! 👍

@@cdoffgrid Thanks, I just bought materials for two drain field pipes. Now I need to dig a second trench , but it has to be done.
Good luck! 👍
Curious to know how long dig the project take you from start to finish? well done.
Thank you! 3 days. The digging was the hardest.
@@cdoffgrid thanks for the reply
How often do you have it pumped?
We should only need to empty the septic tank once every three to five years depending on the usage.
No one ask about the integrity of the walls, they need to be reinforced? we are putting them on the ground and sometimes (depending on the configuration of the field) can be crushed by the earth.
How long will the plastic last underground?
Hi Jodi Purvis, the IBC tanks can last up to 1000 years underground and PVC pipe can be expected to provide reliable service in excess of 100 years.
I had a similar one but no cages .. I had 3 drums then leach pit . Leach pit 4x5 ft 2 ft grit top layer 2ft 1/2 stones .. working 5 yrs now .. 2nf yr poured in enzymes( microbes cultures) 1 bottle ..
Nice to hear that Willy Wong. We hope ours to last that long as well.
Hey is 3 IBC tanks last long for a family of 4
Hi, it can last over few years with proper install
Shouldnt you glue around holes where leech line and drain line go into or have a gasket or something?
how is it working nice job
Thanks aarondavis5535! Working perfectly!
Paano yan. Naging low cost ang mahal kaya ng 0lastic na ganyan dito sa amin
Can't do that here in Texas it's against the law. Even in remote locations. Granted you could get away with it but if someone turns you in then it would suck. It's like a 10,000 dollar fine. All septic in Texas regardless if you install it or you have a contractor/plumber install it must be inspected by the county and IBC totes are an automatic fail!
Kenneth Martin yes I heard that in some areas it's illegal to do that.
The inlet should be higher though! Wtf is this! Wasting space
Unhelpful video! You should have explained what you are doing. Nice music though😊
Thank you for your opinion. We are sorry it wasn't helpful for you! 😟
That is completely wrong. The first tote (first chamber) needs to be HIGHER than the second tote (2nd Chamber). There should be a third tote for a 3rd chamber, Then out to the leech field.
Thank you for your comment. However, I must clarify that your statement regarding the required configuration of a septic system is incorrect. While it is true that septic systems can have varying designs, there is no universal requirement for the first chamber to be higher than the second chamber in a DIY setup using two barrels. Septic system designs can be influenced by factors such as local regulations, soil conditions, and specific site requirements. The inclusion of a third chamber is not a mandatory component in all septic systems; it depends on the specific design and needs of the system. It is crucial to consult with local experts or professionals who can provide accurate guidance based on your location and specific circumstances.
PS: I think you meant LEACH field.
@@cdoffgrid Ya Leach field... I'll give you that one... but for the rest, your installation is just plain wrong. Water doesn't flow uphill. The way you have the 2nd tank set up, your water level will never maximize the volume of the container, thus reducing your ability to settle any remaining particles before evacuating to the drain field. I'm Out.
@@philmorrissetteyou think like a 5 year old😂😂 no logic🤣🤣🤣
He already explained he encountered a rock in the ground and had to let the second IBC higher. But this doesn't affect the project at all!
@@philmorrissette is absolutely correct here, and for anyone that can't realise this, you shouldn't be installing septic systems and you definitely shouldn't be making a video about how to do it the WRONG way!
As a former code inspector, I have a problem with that septic. You need to get legal
He may have another hole and a bag of lime just for that scenario, Inspector.
@@schrodingerscat7218 I've always suspected that damn cat was dead.
I’m curious to know what problems you have with it, specifically. There must be an acceptable way to make one’s own system, at lower expense. Some guidance would be appreciated. Thank you
@@Skashoon you can, buy your own tank and install it yourself. Go on line, there plans for. Concrete block tanks you can build. Many states have alternate systems, compost toilets, electric toilets, etc. Human waste is a biohazard, even ancient Rome spent the money to build a sewer system for a million people. It's still operating today.
