I figured out why I had a hard time getting the calipers and pads over the disk on the front. I put way too much grease in between the wheel bearings and could not get the hub bearing assembly tight and thus the disk was sitting outboard too far. After driving a bit the grease worked it's way out and the bearing was loose. I reset the bearing and all is ok now.

so what you are saying is that the hub wasn't pushed all the way back? I am having trouble with my conversion Kit I bought from MAN A FRE. The caliper does not fit since the rotor is too far from the bracket. Not sure if it is just not set all the way back?

@@angelozuniga8648 Yes, the hub was not tight so it was not all the way back. Did you get it settled?

@@mundanelark1852 So I re tightened everything but i am still missing a hair to fit the rotor in the middle. I ordered a dust shield eliminator to put between the bracket and the knuckle that way it works as a spacer. We will see how that goes, fingers crossed.

Thanks for sharing. Very informative. Did Joe comment on the grinding of the hub to make the inside of the disc to fit? Why did you pick JT outfitters comparing to man a fre's kit?

The JT Outfitters website did mention that grinding may be necessary on the hub, so that was not a surprise for me. JT Outfitters has a complete kit with "stock" style parts. I did not see the same on man-a-fre. The man-a-fre seems to only have "performance" parts. I hated the slotted disks on my S6 and don't need fancy calipers, so my choice was more or less about simplicity, convenience and price.

Do you have any clearance problems with the GM caliper and the wheel regarding spacing? With this set-up can you still use the backing plate, im assuming you can’t??

@@TerryG.74fj40 My 15"steel wheels are fine, lots of room left. By backing plate you mean the plate that the wheel cylinders are mounted to, yes it must be removed. The bearing dust shield can stay.

Informative, but focus and lighting need repair. What wheels are you using? What steel wheels are out there to give you adequate clearance between caliper and wheel? Terry

Yep I wish the production was better, but it is what it is. I'm not a you tuber, just trying to provide you the info I could not find when I started the project. I hope it helps you. I'm running 31x10.5 R 15. There is plenty of room between the wheel and caliper, near 1/2". I suspect most all 15 inch rims will work.

Yes, they easily clear my 15" steel wheels.

A PO drilled the license plate mount holes into it that way. I turned it over when I moved the plate. Useless holes be damned.

Doing gods work. Upside down bezels have been well documented to kill kittens.
