It is called a citizen Promaster Aqualand depth meter and that is why there is a depth meter. The power level indicator is there to tell you if your watch has enough juice for diving and if it needs to be exposed to light to continue running. It would be better for legibility if those depth numbers were on the chapter ring. Nice looking watch; it screams diver. That watch is made for divers that actually dive.
There's nothing wrong with a mineral crystal; it's plenty hard and, depending on its quality, can be 4/5ths as hard as sapphire. Also, mineral is more shatter resistant than sapphire, which is why it was the preferred crystal for dive watches until fairly recently, when all the watch collectors who never swam deeper than their pool started mindlessly pining for sapphire.
That depends on the environment you live in. I live on a coast line full of rocks harder than sapphire, so I can easily scratch (actually chirp of) sapphire glass if I am not carful, let alone mineral glass that gets scratched as easy as butter.
I loved my BJ8050-08E Promaster so much that I bought both versions...didn't think I could love another watch more...until I bought THIS boy! I. LOVE. IT. Now, I completely agree with you that there is more tech in the watch that I would ever use but...the presence and comfort of it makes up for it. Great video.
It's Just a very nice watch to see and wear. Even not for people who don't dive. You don't need saphire, for diving its even better to use mineral crystal.
I pass a jewelry store sometimes on my way home from work and this watch is in the window I sometimes stop to admire it. It has that same vibe as the Tuna for me; big, ugly and toolish but very cool and macho.
Got a sapphire installed on my Tuna. The guy who did it also pressure tested it for me.I provided him with the crystal and new gaskets. I've gone swimming multiple times with the watch, used it in a Jacuzzi, and even shower with it. No problems. I will add though, it is not an all around worthy upgrade as i feel that clarity of the OEM crystal is slightly superior, and that the AR coating on the sapphire detracts from the dial. Would only consider it if my original crystal was badly scratched.
It's interesting as at first I really liked the AR as it gave a blue tint to all the reflections but later on I caught myself paying more attention to the blue tint than the blue dial haha. Now I just find the tint distracting. Glad I could help.
Nothing wrong with mineral for a diver. They won't shatter like a sapphire can if knocked. Yes they scratch easier but overall mineral is more durable for knocks.
love the likes very colourful but as for bad points......when you say you dont need a depth meter, I agree that depth meter is unnecessary in that all divers now use a dive computer plus all divers use a dive computer and most also have a console that has depth and air gauges. But its nice to have a redundancy when you are engaged in a sport that can be dangerous. As for readability I totally agree but I guess if you want the wow factor and the epic look then you have to make sacrifices. Nice review thank you very much
I'm no diver, it's a stand out watch and an ultimate divers watch. I joke when asked...I bought it for muff diving as it sends out an alarm if you come up to fast 🤣🤗👍peace out ✌️
Sky Chrono Pilot Promaster is also a great watch. This one in the video I need for collection. Citizen Promaster series are truly beast watches. Nothing cones close for the ammount of money. Technology behind it is great. Eco drive, Solar powered, Radio Controled and Satellite. What can you wish for more.
I have the original 007 Seiko tuna with the sapphire glass upgrade in perfect condition my watch repair guy voided the waterproof warranty too I don’t know why he did that does anyone know about it Please let me know
It seems like your original swimming watch, the Eco-Zilla, was just as suited as this one for your needs. In two ways, the Eco-Zilla was probably superior: 1) it was much cheaper and 2) the 3-hand design made it easier to read the time.
to be honest the depth marker is there for when you Dive... If its free diving or maybe Scuba , i wouldn’t wear this on dry land, as its a ugly watch ... but for diving perfect..
They must be making a cost savings calculation. Their business people give them the numbers. I would happily pay an extra 100 dollars for sapphire on the stock watch.
As far as crystal replacement to sapphire.... If the watch has factory warranty remaining, then yes, you are voiding it.... If it is out of warranty, what's the difference..... I would do it, personally, if I knew a competent watch person. I'd have to do it myself, and to be honest, I am toying with the idea.... I have a new SUN series Seiko on the way, I am seriously considering a blue AR coated Sapphire....
He has an older video where he goes into a highly satirical and hilarious rant about how Costco is the greatest thing that's ever happened to you as an American.... Check that one out, it's a delight....
Patrick Morrissey jez you are so right,Jesus the cost co, $14 layer cake that can feed a thousand and the godfather all in one 5 minute video.i want to go to America and become a member of the cost co family. Jeff should definitely be in a Hollywood studio or even writing for a comedian. sore through laughing.thanks for pointing it out to me.👍
Patrick Morrissey only in America. what does he actually do,I know he said he went to college, that's university to us Europeans, yes. and he lives in San Francisco I would think he must do something techy he's too funny to be a police officer. he is so funny without even trying
ive got the ion plated citizen 300m diver its beautiful but wears heavy with no lugs and is easy to bang against. the next model is even bigger but ill pass
It may be half the cost of the divine Tuna, but it's ten times as ugly (and the Tuna is wicked cool). Stay with the Tuna and the Endmill. You can't beat that rig with a stick.

your dislikes are my likes.......my favorite watch hands down
I pass a jewelry store sometimes on my way home from work and this watch is in the window I sometimes stop to admire it. It has that same vibe as the Tuna for me; big, ugly and toolish but very cool and macho.
Yeah, the extreme styling is polarizing, which is by itself macho.
Chicks dig this watch, I was at a resort ,down in Florida , ‘’ I like your watch ‘’ , at least 6 or 7 times while there

Wow, that is helpful info. To think the dial is compromised from AR coated sapphire. Thanks for that.

I would leave the mineral in there until it gets scratched up and not mess with the water resistance until then
Yeah, no crystal changes for me. Too risky.
I'm in love..........with this watch..

Just when I thought I was out of the TH-cam watch review game, they pull me back in.
I'm no diver, it's a stand out watch and an ultimate divers watch.
I joke when asked...I bought it for muff diving as it sends out an alarm if you come up to fast 🤣🤗👍peace out ✌️
I’ll be using that when I take delivery in about a month 😂
Hairy clam harvesting 🤣😂🤣😂..."Muff diver" was goin to be Ice breaker when chicks ask
Great review Sir
Great video McMahon! I've been thinking about getting one these for a while.
Sky Chrono Pilot Promaster is also a great watch. This one in the video I need for collection. Citizen Promaster series are truly beast watches. Nothing cones close for the ammount of money. Technology behind it is great. Eco drive, Solar powered, Radio Controled and Satellite. What can you wish for more.
that is why this watch is made for deep dive not swimming in pool that why the price is high for deep divers, not weekend beach or pool swimmers.
Killer dive watch love it
1:30 sold me!!!! Great video!!! (Where is my cape!)
Looks cool
I have the original 007 Seiko tuna with the sapphire glass upgrade in perfect condition my watch repair guy voided the waterproof warranty too I don’t know why he did that does anyone know about it Please let me know
I wouldn't change the glass or remove the back. Wearing a super dive watch which I daren't take in the pool would irritate me. 😬
Muito lindo esse relógio !!!!!
more than the watch, I like your imagination. will subscribe
Thank you.

Gary, I had the same thought. The original is a better beater watch, for sure.
I'd stick to the original and flip this one. Seems redundant to have both. Only having 2 tunas is okay.
This is a divers watch. If you don't need a depth meter, buy gshock.
Sapphire's glass is a must for a drivers watch though.
Jeff I have wanted this watch for a while now. Very nice looking watch.
I like it but pricey for no sapphire.
@@JeffreyMcMahon Again, sapphire is not made for serious professional dive watches. Other reviewers mention that. Look up why and you will understand.
Don't need a depth gauge or dive watch?
Depth gauge.

You want mineral for an actual dive watch for durability
That’s a top watch stop picking stupid faults it’s a diving watch not swimming pool wear.
to be honest the depth marker is there for when you Dive... If its free diving or maybe Scuba , i wouldn’t wear this on dry land, as its a ugly watch ... but for diving perfect..
I have one and totally disagree with you. I find it totally beautiful, I have gotten more than a few WOW, what kind of watch is that Tony. Love it
Great video McMahon. Why don't all watches just come with sapphire? A replacement is like 30 bucks. It couldn't add that much to the price, could it?
They must be making a cost savings calculation. Their business people give them the numbers. I would happily pay an extra 100 dollars for sapphire on the stock watch.
how much.
You'll see these for 600 or so.
@@JeffreyMcMahonThey are almost sold out in Europe. Pretty rare to find some for sale.
How much is that?
They were about $550 four years ago, but prices have gone up now that they are no longer made.

I'd only do it if the mineral crystal cracked. Then for me there's nothing to lose.
That's a good point... If it cracked, or got scratched, THEN you could go ahead....
you have very vivid imagination and if it's west coast your at get yourself to Hollywood, script writing may be career for you sir.👍
I always wanted to write satire. Thanks.

If you bought too many of those yummy fried chickens, they'll sell you a freezer!!!

This is a watch made for us divers and freedivers not for people who just want to look cool....... but nice video thou.
@Dragomir Ronilac What an idiotic comment. Your can still freedive with it; just ignore the rapid ascent alarm.
😄😄

Picky picky picky.

The Tunas are my desk divers. The Citizen Promaster is my beater watch, for the abuses of water.
You dont need this watch sir co'z your just an ordinary beach swimmer? This is a divers tool?
LIke the look though.
