no you aren't - I like the seat in general but this is the most utterly frustrating aspect and actually makes me not want to recommend the seat to anyone I don't hate. The person who thought up this design needs a good slap round the head with a wet fish. I see no reason for them to have made removing the cover so damn near impossible. Those bottom clips at the front? WTF? I got 3 out eventually but only the Hulk is strong enough to get that last one out. So much for my idea of "oh I'll quickly wash the cover as the kid vomited all over it." But hey, great video. Just a shame the design sucks.
My daughter accidentally peed in her seat and now we have to wash the cover. Your instructions were very helpful. Thank you very much! Best regards from Germany
Thank you so much! This video probably just saved me the purchase of a new car seat! I had certainly torn it apart by the last moment of the video... And the tip with the spoon was amazing! Thank you so much for these videos! (both how to undress and dress!)
No, I'm afraid not. Washing car seat straps can weaken them and there is also the risk that they may not be put back on correctly, so for these two reasons car seat harnesses are not removeable. All you can do is wipe them clean.
Thank you so much for this! Unfortunately I didn't see it before I started on my own and I did manage to damage the adjustment strap lock! Luckily we did get it back in but I really thought I'd written off the seat! Your video is very clear, I will save it and use it again and again! Thank you also for the one to put the covers back on.
As a fellow person who also managed to pop the adjustment strap lock on my minikid I would very much like to know the trick for popping it back in again. It would really make my week if you could share your technique of how to do this. So far shouting and mild violence does not seem to do the trick. Also, echoing that this video is great and the official manual and instruction video is somewhat lacking.
I'm afraid the harness is not removeable. It can be replaced by the manufacturer if you have a problem with it, but it's not something that you can do yourself.
I'm also a part of the group that poped out that plastic lock. 2 screwdriwers and it's back in. I didn't hear the 'click' sound but it's fitted back again - no loose ends. Just push down on 2 flaps while also pushing down whole component. I've used mid-force :) Good luck!
This is actually the first version of the Minikid 2, the new version's cover is a little different, but actually easier to remove. So if you follow this video it should be easy.
Hi! Just wondering, you said if the bottom place bit comes out it's not going back...it popped off for me...have I broken the seat? 🥺 **just spotted Matt Wards coemment below , tip for getting it back in. Hopefully I can manage it
I can't see the comment you mean, or the tip... The seat can be repaired when this happens, you need to vcontact your retailer and they will arrange it for you. If your seat is more than two years old, it's out of warranty and you will need to pay for it to be repaired.
The chest pads on my minikid have poppers on them that unfasten and then they peel off the velcro strap with no need to unscrew them at the back. Is mine a newer version?
So I didn't look at the video before trying to get the cover off. I stopped when pulling the material around the adjustment lock thingy where you pull the straps tight. It lifted a little but everything operates ok still. How do I know if I have potentially damaged it or if its ok? X
On the older model you did. And I’ll be honest, when I made this video I didn’t actually know that they had changed it and unscrewing was no longer necessary, haha! So although it’s not needed on this and newer models, I guess it’s still useful for people who still have an older one.
By all means yes. Very good video you made there and funny too ( losing the screw afterall had me giggle😂. Grand parents here. Now we can take the toddler for trips in our soon to be freshly washed, second hand Axkid.

Thanks, way easier then figuring out by yourself 😉👍
I don't think the step where you remove the straps is necessary. That's what the zippers are for. And the shoulder pads can also be removed from the straps, no need to remove those as well. Basically, all the straps can stay on. I think it's a little dangerous to remove them, because they are safety relevant and accidentally putting them back on incorrectly is a risk for the child.
Soooo…. Hahahaha! You’re absolutely right, but I made this video when the Minikid fabrics had just been upgraded to the Minikid 2.0. With zips in the cover and Velcro on the straps, for the reasons that you gave. 🤣 The previous version didn’t have any of that and the cover had to be removed in the way that I did it in this video, so that’s what I was used to. I had no idea that the new covers had zips and Velcro until after I’d made this video, hahaha! So yeah, you’re absolutely right, you can leave the screwdriver in the cupboard!
I managed to fix it myself. If you look at the plastic piece, you will see that it is like a U-shaped bracket formed by the lower face of the top flange and a plastic snaphook below. I found an Allen Key, which fit in the gap between the lower face and the snap hook. Basically you need to find something which supports the snap hook while you firmly push the cover back in place and can be removed afterwards. Maybe this works for you as well.
This video makes the whole process incredible easy-looking! If the chest strap covers can only be removed at the end it makes it most difficult for the most manly part needing most frequent washing! Disappointed with the design
You can remove them first, I just did it at the end in the video, but if all you need to wash is the pads you don't need to remove the whole cover just to get to the pads. Also on the never models the pads are attached with Velcro and you no longer need to unscrew them at the back.
Which version of the Minikid do you have? This video features the older one. I also have a video on how to take the covers off the newer Minikid 2, which is a bit easier. th-cam.com/video/h9wxu4f-S_k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=me1s-7M8SeSj7r4L
Sorry, am i the only one who finds this ridicously hard??? 😩😩 thank you so much for the video though. No other way i could hace figured this out

The seat is the most annoying car seat in the world. I swear. Moving it from car to car it’s such a hassle.
I will rather buy a f***ng new seat than do this!!! Made me soooo angry !!!
It must be the biggest turd of a product ever created by mankind

4 years later and you still saved my saturday!
Hahaha, you’re very welcome!

Hello. Thank you very much for your video. It was extremely helpful.
Is there a way to remove the seatbelt straps, in order to wash them?
No, I'm afraid not. Washing car seat straps can weaken them and there is also the risk that they may not be put back on correctly, so for these two reasons car seat harnesses are not removeable. All you can do is wipe them clean.
@@RearFacingToddlers Thank you very much for your response. 😊
You made this so easy!! Cant believe Ive not bothered to do it until now. Thank you!!
You're very welcome. Things can often seem very daunting when you don't know, and then once you do it you realise it's not that bad.

I'm glad you managed it, but if you do ever damage anything on the Minikid, it can always be repaired, never write the Minikid off!
@@insuliner We got 2 screwdrivers and somehow had to lift the bits of the metal up and click back in at the same time on both sides
@@RearFacingToddlers That's good to know!
@@rebeccaward8141 it worked, thanks a lot!
How do you take out the black seat straps that are fixed with silver buckles under the base of the seat?
I'm afraid the harness is not removeable. It can be replaced by the manufacturer if you have a problem with it, but it's not something that you can do yourself.
Excellent video, tks for your time to make it. As per other comments don't know why I left it so long to wash it.
Very informative! Also thanks for fitting our car seat last year, we are enjoying it very much!
Thanks your video is far superior to the official one!
That's lovely to hear, thank you.

Amazing, thank you for letting me know!
Hi is it exactly the same for the Minikid 2 please? We’ve had a vomiting incident. 😬🙈
This is actually the first version of the Minikid 2, the new version's cover is a little different, but actually easier to remove. So if you follow this video it should be easy.
I seem to have got bits (biscuit crumbs) underneath the car seat in the base. How on earth do I get them out?!
I'm afraid that the Minikid has a hollow shell and if any crumbs fall inside it through the hole where the buckle is, you cannot get them out.
Hi! Just wondering, you said if the bottom place bit comes out it's not going back...it popped off for me...have I broken the seat? 🥺 **just spotted Matt Wards coemment below , tip for getting it back in. Hopefully I can manage it

Hello, the Minikid 2 doesn’t have the silver bracket for the harness, is there different instructions for this model? I can’t find them online?
On the newer model the harness can't be removed, you simply undo the cover and remove it around the straps.
@@RearFacingToddlers oh thank you! I had not undone the zips all the way so had not realised. Thanks so much for your help.
The chest pads on my minikid have poppers on them that unfasten and then they peel off the velcro strap with no need to unscrew them at the back. Is mine a newer version?
Yes, the older ones needed to be unscrewed, but on the new ones you can just peel them off.
Excellent clear video! Thank you! I don’t know why I waited so long to wash our seat cover, this makes it such an easy process! 😊
Thank you, it's actually not too bad once you do it.
So I didn't look at the video before trying to get the cover off. I stopped when pulling the material around the adjustment lock thingy where you pull the straps tight. It lifted a little but everything operates ok still. How do I know if I have potentially damaged it or if its ok? X
If you have pulled it off it will be wobbly and feel quite loose. If it doesn't, then it's fine.
Gemma, were you able to put the locking mechanism back into place?
Hi, is it the same process for Axkid Move seat?
No, the Move is a bit more straightforward, because it doesn't have the moving headrest that the Minikid has. I will make a Move video soon.
Thank you for the fast and forward tutorial ! Brilliant
Thank you!
Hi, is this the same process for the Axkidd Move?
Making a Move cover removal video is on my long to-do-list. It's actually a bit easier because the Move doesn't have a moving headrest.
Thank you so much for this video! You save me from hour of total angry, when I would explore everytink by myself
You're very welcome!
I like the spoon tip, but I bended the spoon in the prosess
Haha, I guess you do need a strong spoon! :)
Thank you Soooo much for this! Id never gave managed it without the video!

You dont have to undo the screws. The pads are held in plcae by 3 buttons and velcro… but great video ! It helped a lot getting it all off. Thanks 🇳🇴

Hi, I'm the idiot who didn't push down on the plastic covering the buttons and strap and now its come out, have I ruined the carseat?
Don't worry, it can be repaired. You will need to contact the retailer you bought the seat from and they can arrange a repair for you.
Same happened to me. Unfortunately the next retailer is too far away. Has anyone a solution?
I have done this too! 😫 I bought mine online, has anybody had this fixed?
I managed to fix it myself. If you look at the plastic piece, you will see that it is like a U-shaped bracket formed by the lower face of the top flange and a plastic snaphook below. So every single one of the plastic "buttons" broke when i used the spoon. :/ Also, the spoon broke😢
Oh. That’s not good, I’ve never heard of that before… If you go back to your retailer, I’m sure they can get a new plastic bit for you.
It's like building a PC.

No need to remove the straps from the bracket as undoing the zip will release the straps in front of the sit
On the newest version, yes. But on the older models it had to be unscrewed, so this video shows how to do that.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Is this a joke? If I knew how long this was, I wouldn't have bought the seat. Wth, it's worse than the install
This is the older version, if you have bought the seat only recently you probably have the 2022 version. That one’s covers come off a bit more easily.
