Thai food markets are one of the best places to buy fresh and authentic Thai food, or to buy groceries and fruit while you travel in Thailand. There are loads of Thai food markets and night market all around Thailand, and heaps around Phuket. At the markets you'll find so many Thai dishes on offer and the foods here are cheap, and so tasty! And in case you’re worried, eating Thai street food is perfectly safe. It’s what the locals eat and it is cooked fresh and sold quickly. I’ve been eating it for 3 years in Thailand and my friends who have been to visit and tour Thailand have all eaten it, and none of us have had any problems. Thai street food is some of the best Thai food you’ll find in Thailand!
The markets in Thailand are a great place to get an insight into Thai culture while you travel in Thailand. You can shop alongside the locals and learn what they buy and eat. And the markets are a great place to try traditional Thai street foods, learn Thai recipes and cooking, as well as eat some of the best Thai dishes in Thailand. You'll see the people cooking the food right in front of you. And best of all, the food is cheap, often much cheaper than eating in a Thai restaurant. Eating at a Thai market is a good way to eat cheap on your Thailand holidays.

Two things amazed me. First, the 3 story mall. Would never have imagined that as everything always seems so 'small town' and rural. Second, as with all the market vids...there seems to be a lot of markets yet they are all busy and crowded. Like NYC at rush hour on the sidewalks lol Shoulder to shoulder. Missed Aorn and Ananda, but everyone deserves a day off lol
Yes, there are both rural and modern parts of Phuket, but it is far from "small town", especially at peak times on the roads. There are literally dozens of markets there, I've been to around 15 of them so far and there are still a lot to go. Yes, they do deserve a day off every now and then ;)

The best value markets are the local ones away from the tourist areas, where the locals shop.

I've never been looking for these shops in Phuket, so I'm afraid I can't give you an exact location, but the shops would definitely be there.

Nice video! Where is more convenient to shop? Bangkok, Phuket or Krabi? I'm going there and I'd like to know! thanks!
They all have their benefits and it really depends on what you want to buy. Bangkok has the biggest range of stuff, you'll find everything you could imagine there, but you often have to travel big distances between shopping areas. Phuket and Krabi have a smaller range, but generally involve less travel time.

OTOP, one tambon lots of products, lol..What would you say is Phukets main trading item (tourism/property prices not accepted) with the rest of Thailand. Do they actually grow everything they need, or is it shipped in? It's a big island but have they become complacent? Very interested to know your thoughts. Great vlogs, showing the realistic side.
I'm certainly no expert and I've spent limited time in Phuket but from driving around there I'd say that seafood and rubber would play a big part in the local economy there. I think they'd have to ship nearly everything in, it is Thailand's biggest island but it's still only 48km long and 21 km wide. Glad you're enjoying the vlogs!

Thanks for watching! Not sure about songtheows, I can't say I recall seeing them in Phuket. I personally use my car, but before I had a car I used to rent a motorbike upon arrival in Phuket and I traveled around on them. I have seen public buses there, but I don't know where they travel and when .... Google might know. There are also metered taxis in Phuket, as well as lots of tuk tuks. I hope that helps.

Sometimes. Sometimes sunny all day, the same as in the other months. Unfortunately no one has told the weather that there is a wet season and a dry season.
Everything but Ping-Pong tables... now, with all the ping pong balls in the country, you'd think there would be more tables. You play? I was considering getting a table... have guy's night where we scream and drink, and play bad ping pong just to keep the neighbors on their toes. They've all kept me on my toes for years now!

Big difference is Phuket is focused solely on Tourist were Bangkok you will pay much less.Good idea Holiday in Phuket and on way home plan a 2-3 days shopping in Bangkok way cheaper.

I drive around in my car when I go to Phuket.
I'm thai,I recomend don't touch or do shopping at the small shop in patong outside a big mall"junceylon mall" because,the produce are not real one like a copy and cost too expenasive.
Where do you recommend then ?
Are there real products there such as real Rolex watches that would be cheaper to buy there than say Australia? Are there Expensive stores such as Cartier or Louis Vuitton that are slightly cheaper than Australian stores of the same brands?
Things that are not made in Thailand are generally not cheap to buy here. Unless those companies have factories in Thailand then their products are most likely the same price as they would be in Australia.

Unfortunately the weather in the tropics is unpredictable and all I can say is at that time of year sometimes it rains, sometimes it doesn't, the same as any other time of the year. It really is luck of the draw. Sorry, but I have no way of predicting what the weather will do, in my experience it changes from year to year.
What's the best night market in Phuket?
The Naka Market (aka Phuket Weekend Market) in Phuket Town is the biggest and most people say it is their favourite.

Yes, the Phuket Weekend Market is only open on Saturdays and Sundays, from about 4pm till 10pm.

I've never done it myself and I haven't caught a tuk tuk or taxi in Phuket in over 5 years, so I can't give you an accurate figure. At a best guess I'd say around 250 baht.
+darrenb3 would you think it's a better idea to ask for a set price or would it better if we go by the metre? I'm just asking that for general taxi rides :)
Going by the metre is the best way.
