Don’t try any of these tips unless you bought the glasses from dollar store. It will destroy the glasses. How can you remove a scratch. Its common sense, the scratched area has to be filled for it to go away.
I think my polycarbonate sunglasses are trash now that I used the baking soda.... So many more scratches now even cleaned them before and after with dawn soap
I tried the tooth paste and it worked for me and got rid of the scratch completely! I’m not sure if it was just me that it worked for but it did work for me!
I used colgate sensitive I think I'll redo this once I get to my house bc I'm corently not so I'll update if I'm not right srry I took a while to respond!
Im also making a way how to put it on: first grab your glasses, second toothpaste and a little bit of toilet paper or something like that. Thurd put a LITTLE bit of toothpaste on thr scrach, lastly dab the toilet paper on the toorhpaste where the scrach is the whipe it off!
So, I've been using Dawn Dish Liquid to clean all of the grease from my glasses (I have oily skin), and while it works to remove the grease, I've not found it particularly helpful in removing scratches.
This probably needs to be re-ordered from least-to-most in terms of aggressiveness or potential damage. I’d never heard of using dish soap but I’d probably start with that.
Get a cheap ultrasonic cleaner, put in some water and a drop of dish soap and run the thing once you get home for 10-15 minute (one cycle) I've been wearing glasses for 30+ years and it took me 25 years to realize that you don't have to look through a vaceline jar every day. My cleaner runs for 10 minutes, and every weekend I empty out the water put inn some hot 30-40c water ad a drop of bleach, literally a drop, onto the 400ml bath run through a cycle and then ad a drop (again literally) a drop of soap. the drop of bleach is probably over kill, but at least I know that the tap water (even though clean) is now clean. I also got a ultrasonic cleaner with "UV" but it's so cheap that I don't think it's really worth using it (but I do). I've had the same pare of glasses for 2 whole year... U used to buy new lenses every year or every 6 month due to scratching $500 down the drain, this cleaner cost $50 🙈
I have a pair of Ralph Lauren black glasses that with $300.I accidentally clean them with an abrasive cleaner. Now they're scratched Sandy, looking and dull. How can I fix them
just use toothpaste? YOU MUST BE VERY VERY SPECIFIC ON THE BRAND AND TYPE!!! Some toothpastes contains larger and hard particles, which can scratch glass and will destroy a plastic lens. Some have smaller but about as hard particles. Some toothpastes have softer and smaller abrasives, or no abrasives.
So I have a tiny scratch in my glasses I do have the “I forgot what it’s called” but I’ll try to explain it. Blue light thing on my glasses where it looks like it’s purple to others but it’s for the watching of computers all day. Which hack should I use as I just got them and don’t want to mess them up more
That purple/blue coating is called an Anti-reflective coating. So, unfortunately that coating works kind of like a mirror coatings - these tips won't really help with that :( Sorry about that Melissa! We do offer blue light lenses if you want to bring your glasses back to life!
My 3year old daughter regularly bites her glasses. I tried soda, ceramic polish, toothpaste, baby oil.. without results..what else can i do? I ever thought about using hot air pistole
Guys just take it to a sunglass place if they mess it up . They have to fix it. If u mess ut up using the wrong cloth it will mess them up to the point of no return
You see, to clear the confusion that shouldn't be there, I'm a minor who has a mother that thinks she knows the best way to wash my clothes so she does it for me. Every time I tell her I can do my own laundry and chores and clean up my own stuff, she does it anyway.
I've tried many a way, toothpaste, fine rubbing compound, polish, baking soda, wax, heat etc.... some remove scratches as well as any anti-glare coating AND ALL RESULT IN A DULL LENS, especially non glass material, which is about 99% of lenses.... save yourself the time and frustration, either take excellent care of your glasses [like you would care for your eyes!] or replace them - these videos are the ego-trips of their creators, the blind leading the blind...
Yep, these tricks will be safe to try with polarized lenses! The polarized layer sits underneath the hard coating on a lens (which will be the layer to get scratched).
This is worthless click bait. You can't remove scratches from glasses. Except it and get out the credit card and buy another pair. Luckily for me, Costco is replacing mine under warranty.

Thanks it helps. I’ve used the toothpaste and it seems to work, although is not completely gone but I can see the difference.
i tried the toothpaste and the baking soda on my Ray Bans and it didn't work. the scratch isn't that deep either.
toothpase and baking soda only takes off the protection layer of blue light or sun protection clearly your glasses doesnt have protective coating.
For me it worked but not completely, I didnt do it on glasses but my mobile screen saver 😅
Thank you this helped reduce the halo around lights a LOT!!! 🎉

worked amazing for me, i bet it depends on the depth of the scratch, i had a ton but they weren't deep.

None of this rids scratches from sunglasses- its clickbait to sell their wares.
I just can’t see how toothpaste can remove a scratch
