    I love the comment from Editing drn and his friendly bickering about your playstyle ,-)
    Also, the unit cards and tech descriptions help people like me who haven't played the game understand your tactics better. Please give Editing drn an extra ration for his hard work ,-)

      Awesome! Hope you're having a blast! Yeah the Sabertooth's a great unit now it's been buffed a fair bit. Really glad we have another permanent answer to Stormcallers in the unit roster, have always struggled with them myself.

    The day has arrived, fast starting specialist with tanks and marksmen. Also starting Sledgehammers for days. You pointed it out, but they did not use their specialist at all. basically missed out on 200 or even 400 free econ.
    I don't know what giants pair well with carry Arclight, my guess would be overloads because anti air and forces anti air tech on your marksman and maybe even the anti missile on the sabretooths if they leaned hard enough into it
    Always a great game, edits has been fantastic, the gray helps me know to keep an eye out for the highlights and Editor DRN showing up.
    Wishing you the best of luck and all the sledgehammers!

      That laugh as the starting specialists were offered to us was pure relief not mirth. Was worried we'd have to go the whole tourney without seeing a Tank start! And then three show up all at once... that's life :D

    Editing drn, they can't hear you because you exist in their future, it's not that they're ignoring you. Interesting to see a bit more of the sabertooth again, guess that patch helped it out enough to be usable
    Hard to tell how good the new units are overall, but it's not your fault that you can't plan for them being available. Might be interesting to try a sneaky run with one by taking a card with one unit then selling it before your opponent can see, then come out swinging with a batch of them on a later turn

      It's okay Editing DRN thinks DRN is an idiot because he gets to see all his mistakes! Is frustrating when you have to spend hours watching yourself mess up over and over again :D Editing DRN is just me getting it out of my system - he knows they can't hear him but still rages against the dying of the light and the futility of it all.
      Really like the sneaky fast sell idea! Not sure how best to use it though. Dropping 4x Elite Level 2 Typhoons with Missiles one turn could be fun in the late game if you have deployment specialist.

      Thanks! Yeah Typhoons can be really good too, picked Sabertooth more as preparation for the expected Giants that never came. Think Typhoons might've struggled once bigger units arrived on the board but have had good success using them defensively vs aggro!

    Great to know tanks are at least strong against players who completely ignore their specialists! A little /s there. Like your videos, got into the game thanks to you. Autobattlers are great for old farts like me, Broodwar got too hectic, LOL got too fast, Mechabellum feels jusst right.

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, think they got distracted by the free Arclights and then fell down the 'trying to get Arclight carry to work - oops I died!' rabbit hole. It happens, I'm sure I've got a couple of videos of me doing the exact same thing! I've totally played Giant Specialist and not used the specialist in some games too - both wins and losses, it can happen to anyone - especially when the game is a short one. Glad you're enjoying Mechabellum, it feels like a RTS without absolutely no micro to me which I appreciate in my advancing years :D

    Not sure if you've already used it but this is my first vid seeing it:
    I gotta say, not a big fan of the editing DRM commments, even the funny ones (I did laugh at some of them), I think the video is a bit overedited. Your video, your choice, just my 2cents.
    *I do* like the unit card info though, maybe make it like a proper playing card that people can pause to read? I think that would be snazzy.
    Very happy to see sabertooth actually working, that attack speed buff really is what they needed, though they could still do with a bit more range or tankiness before they're worthwhile, they're still just a worse scorpion. IMO the rare units should be slightly stronger than their counterparts, like the super-mustang is.

      Thanks for being honest! Might've gone a bit overboad on this one. Editing DRN is a creative outlet for me during the editing process where it can be frustrating for me as the editor watching myself make mistakes. Figured it was a way to incorporate that feeling as some viewers also get it watching me make mistakes too, hopefully channeling it into a more fun experience than a frustrating one for all involved.
      Occasionally get comments about people wanting to scream at me for not building X or Y which would've been perfect in a given situation so spend a while trying to figure out a way to defuse that tension without breaking the flow of the video. Plus it's nice to be able to say "yes building X here is good and I should have!" especially if it's pretty obvious in hindsight. I'll try not to overuse the character though!
      Being honest I'm not much of an artist so just rotoscoping game assets from screenshots is pretty much the limit of my abilities and is already pretty time consuming but the card idea is defo a cool one, thanks! Totally agree that it's okay for the Rare Units to be on the higher end of the power scale but I'm happy for them to not completely eclipse everything else. Hope you can still enjoy the videos.

    • @sensha5470
      @sensha5470 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Drone_101 yeah, I enjoy it either way, and the comments themselves were amusing. I just find the pause and second person with the same voice to be a bit disorienting and it breaks the flow.
      I remember one person I watched ages ago had white-text as a character that they used for bits/major corrections.
      Pretty much the same concept as EditingDRN, but it doesn't break the flow of the gameplay under it.
      IMO the ideal place for the card units would be for them to be somewhat similar to the effect overlords and stormcallers currently have. Not strictly ruling the show, but significantly changing the game once they're on the field. I think the badger despite being the worst of the three is actually the closest to that, since if it had a competent statline it'd basically a spammy(er) vulcan.

    The edits are great additions most times but for some feedback and to save yourself some editing work, you might not need to put the unit cards up after the first time you bring up the units. The end analysis bringing up the techs with the units was a nice touch tho to see what the tech does but you might not need as much during the match since you take the time to so thoroughly explain your choices after the match

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for looking out for me! Yeah that's fair, only having the cards up when first introducing a unit or tech, and then maybe during the review at the end if it's important would defo save me a bit of time. Cheers!

    Hey drn,
    I really like the implementation of the edits. Never felt like I needed them, because you already explained your thoughts very concisely, but they ease following whats going on. I have no idea how much work this is, but its greatly appreciated!
    Here is some feedback:
    - I like that you show the images of the units/cards you talk about (especially 4:12 is such a great examples!)
    - editor drn is funny as hell and gives great insight after the heat of the game went off
    - Sometimes I feel like its a bit too much for me. At 3:19 at first I didnt even see that you added in the description of the tech. Maybe at points like this only show the icon of the tech with the description, because thats the "important" thing about that moment. I admit I wrote a whole comment about how nice it would be to see the tech description at this point, only to discover the description while checking for the timestamp ^^
    Let me know if you appreciate the feedback and keep up the great work!

      Hey Otoe! Thanks for taking the time to give such detailed feedback, really helps me fine tune things. Always looking to improve! Think you're right, the Arclight Charged Shot card was too big and could've used a touch of transparency to make it less obscuring at 4:12. I'm glad Editing DRN is still popular - gives me a fun little creative outlet during the editing process. If it ever gets too much do let me know!
      Alternatively to make that particular Arclight card clearer when I was talking about the tech I could've layered the info Cards. First have just the Arclight card appear then a few second later highlight the Charged Shot tooltip so the motion naturally draws the eye to the needed info.
      Being honest the Info Cards and especially animating them to move takes me (Editing DRN!) ages at the moment but I'm still getting the hang of the process so I'll get better and quicker with practise. Timing them to appear as I'm talking about the unit and last long enough to be readable but not too long to be annoying is something I'm learning as I go. The most time consuming part is still audio clean up but at least now I can use that step to find mentions of units and techs that I need to highlight. Thanks again for the feedback and hope you know it's always appreciated and I'm always looking to improve!

      @@Drone_101 Thank you for such a long reply!
      I agree with your suggestion about the arclight tech thing. Show arclight -> highlight tech -> show tech text below highlighted tech.
      For editing I think its essential that you find a way that doesnt take too long (in the end I want to watch more videos lol) while still providing the bonus context. Maybe a time saving solution (in editing regards) for highlighting something could be that you just freeze the video for a second, add arrows or circles and then unfreeze. Maybe add a "ding" sound for filling the "void sound". It would get your point across and shouldnt take too long to edit (maybe I'm foolish, because I dont have any idea about the process of editing videos. I'm just throwing my toughts around, same with the feedback. In the end its your channel and your call. I'm just one guy and I'm well aware that other people might disagree with my points of view)

      @@otoe4229 Yeah, my videos are all about sharing the experience of playing in a tourney with a friend who knows the game well and is happy to share their thoughts as they go. Trying to maintain that atmosphere is my number 1 priority. Have found pauses and freezeframes quite jarring so I'm trying to keep things as seamless as possible.
      Don't mind putting the time in as the editor as long as I'm happy with the final product myself! Always amazed so many other folks enjoy my creations and I totally respect that it's a privilege to get the opportunity to share them with so many supportive people who are all helping me improve. Hope that makes sense and sorry I can only make so many videos so quickly, doing what I can though. Thanks for the feedback as always!

    Has anyone else tried the tank spam with link hp and regen? It really gets "tanky" only decent stop is a melting point. It's like each tank adds to the max hp and the regen is based on that. It's not really op but it is fun.

      Linked regen tanks are fun but get absolutely blasted by lasers from MPs or Steelballs I'm afraid! Or any source of EMP completely cuts them off at the knees too.
