    The @Staycation Lifestyle van conversion is coming along nicely.
    I bought a VW Transporter T6 Kombi Highline van 140bhp diesel SWB with tailgate.
    Slowly turning it into a camper van / day van with bed. I will also need something for cooking, cooling, sleeping, drinking ?? Choices to be made.
    I have lots more to do though, I have a new electrical system, using Victron components and a Lithium LIFEPO4 battery, so I obviously need to install some power devices. I have a new sound system, with Focal speakers and ibus 2.1 amp, Playstation PS4, which will be removable, TV's on headrests.
    Lots for me to look forward too and it would be nice to take you on the journey.
    Please do let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions.
    Vanlife for me is just beginning, it's a great adventure and I'm loving it. 😍

    Brilliant Vid.
    Inspiring.
    And definitely someone I could listen to all day.
    Yes the up grades can be expensive.
    But you get the point across that nothing should be an obstacle to getting the job done right!!!

    2:22 door strip. Your videos are great. The VW Golf door close is a lovely solid sound, I wonder if you can advise what the door strip is called and where to buy it, please. Cheers

    nice one!! Just FYI on the solar setup, i'd consider moving that roof bar so that the panels have full access.
    If only one cell (out of the usual cells) in one of the panels in your solar array is shaded, the overall output of your system can drop by 30-40%. Much like a clogged pipe or kink in your hose, if the current flowing through your solar panels is interrupted by a shaded cell, the end output is throttled.

    ThanQ again Fella for a mega informative video!
    You have unknowingly helped me realise why my passenger door has been leaking and it was after installing the golf door strip mod thing.. The driver door isn't leaking so I'm wondering if I have to remove the strip or just shorten it at a certain point? ThanX again for your videos 🙏🏽

      Great to hear I’m helping 😀 See if the drivers side goes as high up the door as the passengers. Or they can leak if parked on a slant

    I have a T5 non facelift from 2007. bougth the OSRAM H4-LED update only 100€ (germany) and the additinal Light you get is UNBELIEVABLE. Its absolutely phaenomenal. no other upgrade für the van light. please note th H4 LED are officially allowed ONLY with the Original VW head lights. Third Party Headlight usually have no certification, even though these LEDs would perfectly work.

    • @John1986ATR
      @John1986ATR 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Can you explain what you mean? Does this effect non standard LED headlights?

    • @KRISHNAWARRIOR
      @KRISHNAWARRIOR 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@John1986ATR In germany these LED-Lamps need a certifivation fro EACH (!) vehicle and for each individuel headlight-set. So these LED "Bulbs" are testet ONLY on the original headlight at the VW Transporter. There are many third party headleights for the vehivle, but NONE of them has an official certification by OSRAM. these bulbs Probably work in ANY vehicle with H4/h7 light, so generalyl don't worry, but you have to have them tested by OSRAM and be certified. This is germany ;). Oh any by the way these LED-Light by OSRAM ONLY work if there are classical H4/H7 bulbs in your headlight. They replace them. they won*t work in Headlights who are already LED !

    Where did you get the dab aerial? Was it hard to drill through the double skin roof

    • @StaycationLifestyle
      @StaycationLifestyle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got it from wired campers, however I still get bad signal areas, so I’m not sure if better are available. It was easy, I bought the correct size metal drill bit and had no problems

      @@StaycationLifestyle I was on 20s lowered 40mm and the gap was much smaller. I realise yours aren’t 20s but the radius should be the same. A standard van measures 460mm from the centre of the wheel to the top of the arch, may be worth measuring to see what yours is.

    air suspension... adding complexity and things that go wrong, and go wrong in a big, expensive way...

    • @StaycationLifestyle
      @StaycationLifestyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. And if it happens when in the EU, it’s even more of a problem. Not as easy to be serviced/replaced over there

  • @allanb52
    @allanb52 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I haven't got window deflectors, but do see the point. So VW door seals don't work, aerial and the lights don't work, my suspension works well, steel wheels are more reliable. My van came with a tow bar and yes it's useful, indeed hard to fit a decent bike rack without one. Roof mounted solar panel, no, you have to park in the sun...and your van is black..so don't leave northern England. The golden rule is if it works right it looks good, so buy a Vivaro, leave it alone (aside from tow-bar and wind guards) and save all that money. One thing you should know, by fitting a roof rack it will cost you a lot more on French toll roads, where the Class 1 limit is 2 metres, I learned that lesson the hard way.

  • @stevezodiac491
    @stevezodiac491 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Your roof bars are reducing the efficiency of your solar panel. The reduction in efficiency is not proportuanate with the shadow area they are covering, it is much greater than that.

    • @StaycationLifestyle
      @StaycationLifestyle  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My roof bar isn’t in that position normally, I slide it, I had been carrying a roof box. I did a video recently showing how roof bars and shadows effect the panels 👍🏼

    So you pay 20000 k for a van then spend a small fortune to make it decent.

    • @StaycationLifestyle
      @StaycationLifestyle  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You make it how you want it yourself. There is nothing wrong with how the vans come from factory. Similar to a house, you buy a house and make it decent by changing it to how you want it.
