The 90s in the UK was a huge musical melting pot, of pop, soul, indie/alternative/Britpop, rock, reggae etc, but the electronic music produced by the top tier of our homegrown dance acts of that era (Faithless, Leftfield, Underworld, The Prodigy, Orbital, Chemical Brothers, Fluke, Fatboy Slim, and others) has aged better than most of it, in my opinion , and this is one of the biggest electronic anthems of all of them
I was lucky enough to see them twice in Johannesburg South Africa and the 2nd time I went, we got there super early. Maxi Jazz was walking through the "civilian" area in front of the stage and was just saying hello to the few people in there. He came over while we were smoking a blunt in our little huddle and at first we thought it was security coming over to tell us to stop. We realised who it was the minute he got closer and he just came over, said hello in the gentlest way. He asked us what we thought of Faithless and what our best tracks were, how long we had been listening to them for and things like that. He must have spent a good 5 mins with us just talking about the day and he really wanted to know what our expectations were.. None of the conversation was about him. Just what we wanted. So incredibly humble and he just oozed really wise and intensely kind feelings from his soul. I'll never forget that moment. 💥🇿🇦🪩🎤
One of my most fav dance trance electronic house bands of that era. This song is timeless and so atmospheric. Faithless at their best. I only wish I'd seen them live.
went to a festival local to me and saw sister bliss drop insomnia in her set, the crowd went silent and then erupted .... she stood a gazed into the crown ...... its a timeless legendary track that will never grow old
This track was a mega global club anthem during the 90’s…. It brings back so many memories of going out here in Australia on a Fri or Sat night, great reaction guys!! 😎
Saw faithless in Manchester and Glastonbury in 2002 - Amazing and they all work really hard - This song looks great here, it fell a little flat IIRC i remember at Glastonbury 2002 but We Come 1 and God is a DJ were amazing and available online, well worth checking out. Sad to hear we lost Maxi jazz a few years ago, but those songs give me goosebumps, I enjoyed them anyway but being there for those gigs was amazing.
RIP MAxi thanks for the Hymne of Techno…. Faithless with regular Instruments like Drums,Guitar and Keyboard is sooooooo Spezial in TechnoHistory….. And that song..pfffffff what can i say…….MAGIC !!!!!
RIP Maxi Jazz. Thanks for the good times
Such a loss. Valè Maxi ❤
Normally not the biggest fan of dance music of any kind, but this has to be one of the greatest riffs ever written, regardless of genre.

I prefer the studio version. They're missing out on the video. I think Dido's brother was in Faithless.
Not a brother. Dido has a sister, that is the woman on the keyboard.
@@shauntempley9757 oh ok
@@wiscorpio72 Yeah. It is something that many do not know about, because it has been 20 years since that was first known by me.
Please react to the official video of Insomnia. You will love this…
