I've seen them live in Berlin and I swear as soon as they began to play, nobody was standing still anymore. The whole audience was in extasy and dancing from beginning to end. Never have been to such a concert again since then. Unfortunately Maxi Jazz has passed away. Dido was making music together with Faithless as well She is the sister of Rollo, who is seen as the mastermind of Faithless.
It's moi Laura haha! The forever version is around 8 ish minutes long, if you like things to take their time. I prefer that one. Thanks for the reaction. Theres hardly any here on youtube and maxi jazz left us xmas eve last year. X
@@JustJP you're welcome. Your late era talk talk reviews ( we live one road down in our tiny town to tim friese greene. Didn't realise until recently. ) plus your exploration of sylvian . And early roxy music , had me hooked. Ha!
Went to Glastonbury 2003, primarily to see Roger Waters who was excellent, my friends went off to see some obscure band on the glade stage, I decided to stay at the Pyramid Stage for Faithless who were kinda new and different genre for me, definitely one of the best live bands i've ever seen, Maxi Jazz and Sister Bliss had 60000 people in the palm of their hands, as a prog rocker this was defo prog house or garage or whatever but what a keyboard and guitar sound and percussion that Neil Peart would have been happy with.
Nice! I never expected to hear Faithless getting some time here. I absolutely adore the albums "No Roots" and "To All New Arrivals". Both of them I can put on repeat play and listen to again and again all in one sitting.
I reckon you would like Leftfield especially anything off Leftism, Underworld were another great band, Cowgirl is a banger. But if you want a brilliant bass heavy banger it's got to be Superstylin by Groove Armada. Trust me, you'll love it.
Very cool track, great album. Was living in Bristol when i got into these, as well as Massive Attack, Portishead, Leftfield, UNKLE, Tricky/ Nearly God and Chemical Brothers, spending too much time in The Vodka Bar...
I love this song more than I can ever express - it took a source of pain for me at the time, Insomnia, and made a great story/song out of it Faithless were just amazing
Great band. Their "To All New Arrivals" album is excellent, and they produced one of the greatest protest songs ever with "Mass Destruction". RIP Maxi Jazz.
I LOVE this track! I highly recommend the Monster Mix as well ( it has an extended rap). This whole album is worth doing in full. Another great dance track is Underworld Rez/Cowgirl, and 2 great albums also worth doing in full are Leftfield ''Leftism'' and Chemical Bros. ''surrender''
Switzerland: You might like "Bostich", "Night train", "On track", "Vicious games", "Lost again" or - most famous - "The race" by Yello even better (some Swiss music).
You have to check out a live version. Faithless live are everything. Weapons of Mass Destruction, God is a DJ.. I saw them at Princess Street Gardens, with Edinburgh Castle behind them, amazing. Edinburgh is also where I saw Japan on their final tour, my first concert.
Oh man! Who in Europe born around 1980 hasn't amazing nostalgia to this song? Even if he/she didn't go raving. It's just great - and of course, only the album version will suffice! 😁
This could start you off down another rabbit hole into a vast sub genre of house dance classics and in particular crafted albums which journey you through highs and beats and builds and drops. The Faithless albums are great for all that. As others have already mentioned, other albums around this time include Leftfield "Leftism", Underworld "Dubnobasswithmyheadman", Groove Armada "Vertigo", Massive Attack "Mezzanine" and Rob Dougan "Clubbed To Death"
Faithless is a great rabbit hole to explore. As a prog fan I found a lot to love in some of the keyboard work. I would recommend listening to god is a DJ, take the long way, and To all new arrivals and many others. The lead singer Maxi Jazz sadly passed away a couple of years ago, but the band appears to be still active. The mastermind behind faithless is a guy called Rollo Armstrong who’s more well known sister is Dido (you may have heard of her) she sings on some of their tracks.
You are absolutely right. The dynamic music with the well placed vioce of Maxi is magic. Liontamer is my current favourite, but it varies, all is just gold.
A legit club classic. You definitely should do 'Salva Mea' that was also a standout on the Reverence album. Also the deep cut 'Woozy' which Faithless did exclusively for Danny Boyle's movie "The Beach"... One of the most outstanding progressive house tracks I've ever heard... Nobody's reacted to it on TH-cam, as far as I know.
Hi JP. I almost forgot you as when I renewed my gaming computer as I am an full total addict from the year 7 and I don't even want fight against it anymore, but now that I mostly have back my referencences and contacts I am goo for a go. You never failed me JP and I am quite sure you won't do it now either:)
I only knew of the single version, that is catchy from the start whereas here, it only gets to it at the very end of this album version. Starts off with minimal almost, then my favorite in house : deep house, then dub to end up with the part best known for it, the full on club!
Well this is a freak coincidence. A couple of weeks back I grabbed this CD, which I hadn't touched in over 20 years, to take on a long drive. It's been spinning in the car since. Lots of fluff in this record, and this of course is the big hit, but for my money "Salve Mea" is the real banger.
Oooh, this takes me back ❤ The chimes and ticking at the start remind me of Floyd’s Time. If you like this, how about Leftfield/John Lydon and Open Up? I spent 1992-3 at UK raves and dance clubs. The wonder years. By 1994 I’d burned out largely ❤
I was living in Tel Aviv when this came out, it brings back beautiful memories. I moved to Dublin and got to see Faithless many times at the Olympia. RIP Maxi ❤
Never heard this version. Where's the excess mess in darkness?? I think you need to listen to the single version too it's actually great and has more vocals.
But you picked the extended version and completely wrong one. The original is the best as in this song there are just few musical movements and they are the core. The original video is that black and white picture as the video is actually only in black and white. The hardest tune of late 90's for sure and one of the best drops ever. I have to admit that at the timne me and my friends didn't want be stoned or drunk, so we used xtc and that worked well for us but to anyone else, there is way more than you thinking of and the people are not your friends, actually the worst ever people you can meet in your life. I am not preaching here, I am just telling what kinda of unwanted things can come along. The biggest risk isn't even the drug you use but the criminals that sell it to you. I had once this situation where my dealer didn't show up as promised and I began to lose my temper. That time went reasonable well, but later on I found myself as I am a punchy guy as boxer but quite small that people started to fool me. Well the bad part of these cannonballs and what ever bicycle cousins was that I had to have at least my money back and also money for beeing here. There where these three motorcyclist, but fortunately the 'Boss' knew me and told the others who I was and that 'You leave this man alone and never disturb him' using my real name so tehy even knew who I was. The funniest thing here is that as I was the hed of the governujg aparment society, where all did own their aparments and weren't rented except for one moron who didn't pay his water, electricity nor other bills.
Remembered the band, track name, but couldn't place it. Well not till that (famous) break/riff, kicked in. Happens much earlier in the version I've heard previously. Re the track, it's alright. Never a fan of the terpsichorean arts I can take this stuff or leave it. It's harmless enough.
The keyboard drop is probably one of the most iconic in musical history and it was created by Sister Bliss just noodling on the keyboard.
I've seen them live in Berlin and I swear as soon as they began to play, nobody was standing still anymore. The whole audience was in extasy and dancing from beginning to end. Never have been to such a concert again since then. Unfortunately Maxi Jazz has passed away. Don you mean the whole audience was on ecstasy!
@@garnetnewton-wade4091 😆😆😆
I LOVE Faithless! This, God is a DJ and Weapon of Mass Destruction are three of the most important tracks in music.
Salva mea one of my favourites too
( the way he repeatedly says " brothers and sisters help me 😢" ( could be the longer forever version though)
25 years ago I did nothing else but listen to Faithless. A concert I went to was just out of this world. How they played the audience was mesmerizing!
As soon as the music started, I said to myself: “welcome to the 90s.” 😄 Music that never gets old
Love Faithless! "We come 1", ""God is a DJ" are absolutely classics. Also tracks like "Mass Destruction " are great.
No no no you need the video, rest in peace Maxi Jazz,
It's moi Laura haha! The forever version is around 8 ish minutes long, if you like things to take their time.

The track insomnia starts at 4:40

Of all time I'd say 🥳🥳😵🥴

Massive Attack deserve a mention, too
This is a nice change for your channel. This genre doesn’t make up much of my music library, but this band is most definitely present. Cool track!
Salva Mea is technically a masterpiece of a track
Very cool track, great album. Was living in Bristol when i got into these, as well as Massive Attack, Portishead, Leftfield, UNKLE, Tricky/ Nearly God and Chemical Brothers, spending too much time in The Vodka Bar...

Faithless were just amazing
Faithless is incredible! So many bangers
You should of played the monster mix, that was the one used in the clubs..
I've seen faithless live many times the drop on insomnia in a live concert was beyond awesome, spine tingling, it did it every single time with me
Great band. Their "To All New Arrivals" album is excellent, and they produced one of the greatest protest songs ever with "Mass Destruction". RIP Maxi Jazz.

I remember when this first came out, made a massive impact not only on both Faithless's music but the British music scene as well
One of the best tracks ever. still play it in my sets

The Drop.
An hymn, a legend track. Like I feel love by Moroder/Belmote/Summer it changed dance music life. A must 😊

Loved the idea of you and some glow sticks 😊 made my morning
Haha twas a fun time :D
This was hands down the best ever club song in 1996 and the drop near the end is the best ever made even compared today..,.
A genuine hands in the air classic

Salva Mea, God is DJ, Take the long way home, Tarantula are also great tracks if you like this one (album versions).
« I’ve never listened to this track »….ahahah bro you are going to laugh when the drop drops
God is a DJ live at Alexandria Palace very definitely worth a watch.
Absolutely love faithless! Rip Maxi Jazz 💙
I like. I already knew _Bombs_ and _God is a DJ_ , . . . . I'll have to add this to my mid-Chill playlist. Thanks, JP.
Absolute TUNEEE
Dj quicksilver - bellisima 👍👍 original 12" cut. Absolute banger of a tune!!
Finally. Thank you. First like, then I'm going to watch.
Thank you Mark, hope you enjoy :)
"I'm about to break out some glow sticks"
Wait for it...

Fuckin RIP too jazz absolute legend
Full disclosure, I did dance with glowstick to this when it was first released! 😉
The memories!!!!!

The timing👌
Seen Faithless years ago. Nothing like it whenever Insomnia started the whole place was bouncing.
Oooh, this takes me back ❤

Utterly sick track. Still sounds fantastic.
Who else remembers josh wink 😜 higher state of consciousness
The thinking man Techno
R.I.P. Maxi Jazz 🥲
You might like to listen to Fragma - Toca's Miracle - its a vibe
You should've done the Monster Mix. By far the best version. I've got like 10 mixes of this track.
I was living in Tel Aviv when this came out, it brings back beautiful memories. I moved to Dublin and got to see Faithless many times at the Olympia. RIP Maxi ❤
Must listen to mass destruction by faithless, that has a good story and beat
Ibiza party song... Great!!!!
Check out Bombs the lyrics are so true, amazing song by them
Never heard this version. Where's the excess mess in darkness?? I think you need to listen to the single version too it's actually great and has more vocals.
Laura is based.
Rave classic
i am normaly hated techno.... i am a fully metal or gothic head, but faitless and underworld i liked somehow... ^^
Can you even call yourself a raver if you havent sweated out to this with a few thousand bumping shoulders with you

Trying to sleep. I admit defeat. My feet are twitching, and my head is glitching. Can't ignore that 'damn' beat!👯🥱.✌&❤.

Terrible mix
Total surprise at the positive response. I like random sounds but this was a bunch of random sounds without a theme. Earache!
RIP Maxi Jazz
