That Sikh campaigner in Wolverhampton is amazing.
When I saw him knock on that door, I cringed, thinking he was breaking a big taboo of canvassing in order to have a pointless fight on camera. And then he won a labour vote. Incredible!
I liked him too. I liked the candidate who said thet she's a nurse, not a politican. Whatever your views, there are too many MP's who studied PPE at Oxford or Cambridge, who's parents bought them a flat when they graduated. Out of touch.
The problem with the Labour Party is not the grass roots campaigners but the leadership and leader Corbyn who is unelectable along with a hand full of there cronies ,

People seem to think Jeremy Corbyn is not strong, but it takes a lot of strength to withstand the pressure he has had and not to buckle but to stand by his principles. You don't have to sound aggressive to be strong.
This man can't get his own views in his parties manifesto. What does that say about his spine? He has had pressure because his policies don't add up and he carries himself in such a way that oozes uncertainty. This man is not fit to lead our country through a time like this.
That says he's a democrat, he abides by what his party supports overall in the Manifesto. His policies are costed with the sources of the funding identified - unlike the manifesto of the Conservatives and I don't think he "oozes uncertainty". He's not been used to being a leader for long but he's certain of his principles and what he believes in and that comes across clearly in his speeches which are delivered with enthusiasm. He's not had to do U turns on his manifesto, unlike the Conservatives.
As they used to say on a certain talent show... vote, vote vote, cos your vote counts!
+ Scott - you mean he dragged ! the party to a position where they are electable again and start to resemble a LABOUR party again. (read a party for low to middle income people = the majority in the country). While the party esablishment and most MPs were kicking and screaming and backstabbing whenever they got a chance.
After all he should have the powers like they used to have in absolute monarchy, where the word of the leader rules.
And he turned the Labour party around to show a spine when it comes to austerity and defending the NHS and so forth.
But he did not get every single point of his personal rather progressive views through on the manifesto you say ?

P.S. It seems right now as if he could improve the result for Labour but not get the majority - now imagine what could have been achieved had (New) Labour stood behind him from the very beginning. Even the short time where they could agree on a manifesto and campaigned for only a few weeks turned the polls around. - On the other hand Theresa May would not have called for a snap election, if Labour had consistently polled better. Labour poll results were not that bad before the leadership coup. One would think New Labour had better things to do when the Tories are busy to ruin the NHS.
As for him being "weak" - I could totally see him politely and STUBBORNLY defending the interests of the UK in the EU negotiations. And with UK interests I mean ALL of UK especially the low to middle income people, the citizens, consumers, smaller businesses, the industries that do not have the ear of the neoliberals (Tories or New Labour, doesn't matter). Like the fishing industry. While May will first and foremost defend Big Biz, the City of London, the interests of the tax dodgers, the interests of wealthy people (fox hunting anyone - it was almost as if she WANTED TO LOSE). And if she can May will use the negotiations as pretext to ram further promote her neoliberal agenda in the country.
NEVER LET A GOOD CRISIS GO TO WASTE. Like the Financial Crisis caused by Big Finance, THEY were rescued and THEY are doing great, while the citizens were subjected to austerity. Austerity does not work as an economic recipe - but if you work for the few on the back of the many austerity is a good strategy.

I was lucky enough to be at the Labour Gateshead rally. Corbyn really is a remarkably powerful and genuine speaker. Will be a tragedy when he inevitably loses. If you're in the UK and reading this, it's ESSENTIAL that you get out there and vote tomorrow, even if the Tories will win, the slimmer their majority is the harder time they will have pushing hard Brexit, further cuts, and regressive social policy. COME ON BRITAIN
I don't get how anyone can vote torry (and I used to vote for them, mainly because labour never made sensible policies, no not doing whatever the torries are doing is not a sensible policy), they're screwing everyone over (benefits, the disabled, children, education, police (and then having the nerve to blame everyone but themselves when there's a terrorist attack), the elderly, the unemployed, the average working person, immigrants, EU citizens who have made lives and families here, etc) while cutting taxes to the rich and having no plan for brexit (other than pissing off everyone in the EU), wanting to pass thousands of laws without going through parliament, ignoring the house of lords and so much more.
I don't get how anyone can vote for a man who supported terrorism against his own country. I don't get how anyone can vote for increasing UK debt from £1.7 trillion to £2.2 trillion.

"I don't get how anyone can vote for increasing UK debt from £900 billion to £1,400 billion." you do know that UK debt has not gone down under the torries either, so if we're going to be in debt we might as well provide for the people, rather than make those worse off suffer to keep the rich guys richer.
I am talking about Corbyn. And he did indeed support terrorism. As did his shadow chancellor, when he 'honoured' the 'sacrifice' of IRA terrorists. And you do know that the problems we have with state spending cuts now are down to having to cope with the debt we already have, yes? Perhaps you can explain how taxing the richer guys will pay off £2.2 trillion of UK debt?

How do you convice people that Tory spending is actually higher both short and long term?
sirico By lying. This 'trickle down' economic theory is a load of horseshit. Short term your proposition is laughable and simply untrue. Now, to debunk the long term we must look into the past time this was really taken up, namely Thatcher's years. During that time, investment as a share of GINI actually went down, meaning that giving them more money doesn't actually mean that they spend all of it. However if you redistribute it through taxes and benefits to the lower and middle classes (who tend to spend all their income) then you actually get more spending and therefore you get better economy, that is why many of the Scandinavian countries have such high growth rates. I'd also like to point out that during Thatcher's and Reagan's tenure, 91% of income growth was for the top 10% and 50+% was for the 1%. This clearly shows that the rest of the population didn't really benefit. Labour wants to invest in the future and the next generation, something that in the long run would bring in more money for the government and boost opportunity in the private sector, as well as helping more people. Back to an earlier point, the rich tend not to spend most of their money preferring to keep it in off shore tax havens where it is in effect wasted, so giving to them can actually lead to money going out of the economy. Even when they do tend to use it, it's often in things that are just financial games and not investment in the real economy that actually helps people. It tends to be in exchange manipulation and investment in housing prices, which just make it more unaffordable for everyone else. So stop believing that you somehow have superior knowledge, your arguments are unfounded. :)

I absolutely LOVE JEREMY CORBYN!! How anyone can say he is not strong is beyond me.. A man who has stood by his principles throughout his entire career. Consistently been on the right side of history showing incredible foresight and intuition. Enduring endless bullying and media bias and the attempted coup within his own party.

If so, should we then copy and scrap council housing which would eradicate Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit for every one and make every one pay for housing and council tax them selves, then transfer the funds from Welfare over to the NHS?

And therefore maybe Labour should win, that way when people see no improvement with the NHS, or the country still spirinling into debt and we become a "Developing" country rather than a "Developed" country

Dont expect the conservs to get us out of debt without cutting benefits and public services in order to reduce the yearly defecit and debt, as the money has to come from somewhere and printing more money = inflation, increasing minimum wage = inflation
So we need to save and live within our means

It cannot function by having 1 policy for X, 1 Policy for Y and 1 Policy for Z
Otherwise people become confused, they dont know what to expect and caos breaks out

Without the divisive tactics surrounding Brexit especially regarding the working class vote, on what basis would they have to vote Tory? The Tories could see over the horizon and new they needed a digestible narrative that was easily peddled and swallowed. Ukip had already put in the ground work for them, all they had to do was legitimise and tread around the anti-immigration feeling that was so prevalent, without isolating any current Tory voters. We will all move on from Brexit, where do they have to go next to divide, they have already sunk to the depths of what most educated right minded people would believe to be conceivable. What other narrative do they have?
