But he didn't really have Soul. But I do think that Kelly Clarkson, Pink they both Sang with SOUL. I sometimes think you can hear everything they've been through in their lives so far. A BIG ingredient in this recording was the producer, Phil Spector. He was a mad genius. Some of the biggest songs of the 1960’s were the result of Spector’s production. If you REALLY want to be blown away by that “wall of sound” and one of the purest, most emotionally powerful vocal performances EVER, you HAVE to hear “River Deep, Mountain High” by Tina Turner. Spector produced that one as well and later claimed it was his masterpiece. He made Tina repeat the vocals literally hundreds of times in one day to the point that she nearly broke emotionally. I mean like the poor girl nearly fractured from reality he pushed her SO hard. Because he knew what she could do and wanted to force that borderline breakdown in her heart and soul for a once in a lifetime vocal performance. And she NAILED it. The infamous “Wrecking Crew” studio musicians did the musical score live while Tina sang from the depths of her everlasting soul. Give it a listen and you will feel every word she sings to you. The vocals, the strings, the percussion, the backing vocals…all of it is absolute perfection!

Most white people missed the great Motown magic in the 60s and 70s, just like many black people missed the blue-eyed soul and amazing rock music of the same era. I'm thankful that I spent most of those years with black, white, brown and every other race for friends. You never know when you walk into my house... I don't know what you're talking about here because back then there weren't stations for all different types of music as much as there is nowadays. We didn't even have FM radio, just had AM radio. Country pretty much had its own stations but everything else played on a station together. So, we listened to all kinds of music. I heard (and loved) rock & roll, hard rock, soft rock, Motown, Philly Soul, some Country, standards (mostly what our parents' music, etc. And when I say "our parents' music, I mean people who are almost or are 90-something now! Like music from the 1930s to the 50's. So, your statement that white people listened to white people and blacks listened to Motown, etc., is totally wrong! If you really are a baby Boomer like a bunch of us out here and only listened to Motown, then I feel sorry for you because you really missed out on a lot of great music. Along with any white person out there who only listened to so-called white music, you missed out hearing great music from Motown and Phily, etc. But I've read enough comments from people like me (I mean old) who are from ALL races & all countries who were listening to the radio back in the 50s until about 2000 and we heard it all.
